We're so pleased you love this edition Daniel! What a wonderful review. We spend so much care and time on each of our editions, and Jonathan Burton has created some fantastic artwork for this series. And don't worry, Folios are meant to be read! You won't damage them by looking at them :)
Dear Folio Society, thanks to this video & the videos on your own YT channel about your exquisite editions of the A Song of Ice & Fire series, I gifted myself on Christmas of 2022 all 5 of your currently released illustrated hardcover editions of A Song of Ice & Fire and they are without a shadow of any doubt some of the greatest most cherished Christmas presents that I have ever received. I even gifted a copy of your amazing edition of Jurassic Park to my younger brother who is a massive Jurassic Park fan & he totally adores it. Thank You. Any hope that you good folks might soon enough do The Wheel of Time next please? It would be so magnificent to see you do for The Wheel of Time the same quality treatment that you brilliantly did for A Song of Ice & Fire🤞🙏🤞
If Winds EVER does come out, I’d love to see Daniel do a review of the series as a whole since it’s been a while since he reviewed the books individually.
I bought the HBO edition as a teenager and discovered midway through that the pages were bound out of order. That's all I'll say about that... Edit: I just realized you were talking about the show lmao. I was talking about the book/show tie in edition.
I've been collecting these as they are released and have the first three volumes of the series. The map is fantastic! There is tremendous pleasure for some of us in feeling quality paper and seeing beautifully illuminated fonts and pages. Pricey, yes. But I love them!
This! Just got the third one, and while it approaches the critical point of comfortable weight, the font, feel and colour of the paper, the art (my god the art) and all the other jazz is simply impossible for me to resist.
At this point, the best version of A Song of Ice and Fire will be the one with seven books, even if they're printed with a mimeograph machine and held together with binder clips.
Gonna sound salty here, but do you really expect someone who gets sent free stuff to take the time to give an actual in-depth review with that kind of info? He also failed to mention the type of binding it is (smythe) so you can open it all the way, how many illustrations there are, the type of paper that is used (the actual reason it's split up into two), the artist, etc. This is more of a "oooh, shiny, free, nice to look at, use my link..."

The best version of 'A Game of Thrones' is the UK/World First Edition in royal format hardcover (which preceded the US edition and it's therefore the true first pritning) with the Jim Burns jacket published by HarperCollins -then the read leather one that was issued by the same period once the TV series appeared. There was a demy format book club UK edition which had the same cover but of course it was a smaller format. I sold my signed copy of the World First for an undisclosable sum a few years ago...
I think mine must have been a pre-owned returned one. Has a funny smel to it and the fold-out map is literslly coming apart at the seams with big holes and rips at the corners/edges that only get bigger each time I fold/unfold it.
Great to see you review this! Absolutely get the fear to ruin them, I just re-read AGOT on kindle. Will definitely do a physical re-read when I've got the set. Expensive but ASOIAF was my gateway into fantasy.

Don't recall my edition coming with a tote bag. Was a few years ago, of course, and I'm not a popular Booktuber. The editions are amazing, hope you complete the collection. They look incredible together on a shelf.
I bought all the books in the series (currently only the first 3 are released in this format) as first printing. They are definitely the most beautiful books I own. They beat the Cosmere leatherbounds but they beat them by price as well, unfortunately.
If you're in the UK, they are actually much much much cheaper than Sandersons books. I straight up will not buy the Cosmere stuff until he distributes fairly to the UK (without us having to pay double or higher price).
I think they're super generic and dull. All of my copies are the Tor/American editions with nice artwork. (Don't ask me why it costs hundreds of pounds less to import those than from the Sanderson store though. It's ridiculous.)
@@lsdeann_3293 Because they aren't shipped with a normal carrier or in small bulks, but in full containers for big stores. Jealous as I may be 😊
I own all three collections of the ASOIAF Folio Society editions and they are wonderful. Admittedly I only pulled them out once and never want to touch them again in fear of damaging them LOL
If you like that Daniel, I'd recommend Folio Society's version of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. The cover is amazing and sparkly. It also costs less than the GOT one (but less inside art).
Another thing to note on the asoiaf folio editions is that each POV character has there own personalised symbol at the start of each chapter which is a nice touch. Although I do feel sorry for the illustrator now they’ve got to do books 4 and 5 because of all the extra characters George adds 😭 that’s a lot of extra symbols 💀
yeah i think these are beautiful, but i do prefer just the standard hardcover dust covers, I know i’m boring but i like them, and i display them beautifully on my shelf, maybe Daniel can roast it someday.
@Daniel Greene - what do you think is the appeal of leatherbound editions? Easton Press has a leatherbound set of Lord of the Rings that I've been contemplating buying. Would one read leatherbound copies or are they just for looking pretty?

- The Limited Edition Dune Box set with the a gorgeous artwork of Mother Gaius Helen Mohiam and it‘s magnetic lids.
- Their edition of Alice in Wonderland
Love to see you review these and hope they will send you many more! Jealous as I may be 😊
I own all three collections of the ASOIAF Folio Society editions and they are wonderful. Admittedly I only pulled them out once and never want to touch them again in fear of damaging them LOL
asoiaf is my fav fantasy series and i love it when you make videos about it.
Gorgeous edition ! I felt guilty buying the regular illustrated editions. I can't imagine how I would feel if I bought the folio society one.
Man, that trick with the subscription plug was a real big boy move. Fuck, no more kids table for you bud
I may get this just for the map
Tier Ranking of all your Special Edition Books! Or just a video where you show off all your special editions :)
Man even tho I own three different copies of the first book of asoiaf alone , I NEED THIS
WOW, incredible editions!
I love how every Daniel vid is just a little bit more wacky than the last :)
If you like that Daniel, I'd recommend Folio Society's version of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. The cover is amazing and sparkly. It also costs less than the GOT one (but less inside art).
I would love to be able to justify purchasing this, it looks amazing.
Imagine Daniel opening the box and pigeons flew out of it
Another thing to note on the asoiaf folio editions is that each POV character has there own personalised symbol at the start of each chapter which is a nice touch.
All the bomb sounds+animations had me LOLling!
@Daniel Greene - what do you think is the appeal of leatherbound editions? Easton Press has a leatherbound set of Lord of the Rings that I've been contemplating buying. Would one read leatherbound copies or are they just for looking pretty?
Welcome to the wonderful world of Folio Society. 😏
