Fun fact! The Hildebrand quests lines were originally created to see what they could do with their facial animation suite for cinematics. They absolutely went ham, and thus the Agent of Inquiry was born.
I was SO curious why it felt like the facial expressions where turned up to 200% like in this gmod meme videos

You can really see the results as you progress through the expansions too! ShB would not be as touching without all that Hildibrand has done for us

Here's something that's pretty cool. The "Battle on the Big Bridge" trial was the first trial in-game that had voice acting. Yeah, they gave that honor to this absurdly silly questline... and I absolutely love it.
In fairness, it IS Gilgamesh, who's generally beloved by the fandom for his wacky antics, so...
@@Nehfarius I will fully admit, he wsa the sole reason that I got into FFXIV. I'm a bit of a nut for video game music and Clash on the Big Bridge being present is one that will always get me to at least try a Final Fantasy game.
I loved that battle. I remember I went find Greg and he basically use the duty finder to fight me and I was like fine...I set the battle then teleported to the gold saucer and before I can shoot hoops the queue popped.
Heroic himbo… That NAILS Hildibrand.
Look, I'll confess: I was real disappointed that Nashu didn't keep wearing her "inspector outfit" except for the previews. And the scenes with Nashu and her bombs STILL make me howl with laughter.
This quest line single-handedly made me commit from free trial to subscription.
I absolutely love that these quests exist. So much love has been put into them.
And the fact that is was originally supposed to be just an amusing distraction while they worked on 2.X MSQ and raids just amuses me. They never suspected that it would become what it did.
@@Uldihaa I fell for this miniseries the moment Nashu decided, with a little bit of logic, to try to cure memory loss with a bomb to the face.

It kills me that the devs chose not to add in a Shadowbringers leg to Hildebrand's journey all because they felt the content was getting stale and and turning into a self parody. I would've loved to see the Gentleman of Light become what he must. Hildebrand in the apocolypse has so much potential. But maybe we'll see that potential realized come Endwalker!
we can rest assured that somewhere out there, Mildebrand Handerville, Officer of Asking Questions, launched himself into the flood of light hoping to halt its advance. whereupon he was vaporized immediately, but at least the resulting sin-eaters had more expressive faces than usual
Fun thing. Keep a close eye in The Heroes' Gauntlet on the last leg. You might catch a surprise.
@@TSLsmokey Funny enough, a friend of mine actually managed to catch Hildy in Gauntlet three fucking times in a row a couple months back. I'm still mad about it since he hasn't popped up for anyone else.
@@TSLsmokey I'm aware of that Easter egg, but it's so minor that it's really not much of anything beyond a reference to the past questlines with him and a confirmation that many people do think of him as a hero after the adventures he's gone on.

Say what you want. But both Hildy and Godbert set aside any matters at hand the moment a child needed help. And then Godbert shows what kind of father he is by casually flexing his son into an investigation even if he doesn't quite agree with his sons chosen profession. He supports him nonetheless. :D
I swear Drybone rains more than any other area in Eorzea. It's amazing that it's still a desert at all.

This is such a Jesse quest, I love it.
I'm getting some Zapp Brannigan vibes from Jesse's Hildebrand voice.
This questline was a lot of fun to go through, even if logic and common sense are out to lunch for all of it.
This is just the ARR Hildibrand questline. Every expansion has one of similar lenght and humor. Can't wait to see Jesse tackle those!
unfortunately Shadowbringers doesn't have a questline for hildebrand and it won't get one either based on what Squenix has stated. :/

@@RhinForti They can't force themselves to write him, or else it won't be nearly as funny. Besides, he's coming back in Endwalker.
@@RhinForti We'll be getting him in Endwalker from what I've heard, besides, shadowbringers spends most of it's time in a place hildy wouldn't be able to join us in anyway... and when it's not, the situation is to serious in the MSQ to pull away into Hildy's wild antics anyhow.

This is the best thing ever, haven't watched it yet but I love this quest series. Started it when I was kinda more in a darker place story wise and it is just amazing.

It's Early Access patch day and I decided to watch all these streams to pass the time! The absolute best, love the voices and ESPECIALLY the use of the scholar emotes between cases.

Too anyone new. The quests are not always this silly. This questline is where the devs get all their silliness out of their system

I had actually gotten Weaver to 50 before doing hildebrand quests so I was loving these quests while feeling secondhand embarrassment for walking into Rose's guild with THIS MESS. 🤣
My poor au ra couldnt show his face in town for a while (went into heavenward after doing the first questchain).
Imagine if one day, they made the Monk LB3 a short cutscene of the WoL suplexing the enemy as an April Fool's joke. The amount of people queuing up for the Phantom Train raid would be unbelievable.
Honestly, I've been looking for Jesse FFXIV content so much on YT but so little of you experiencing the story exists, I'm so excited for this, can we expect more FFXIV content on this channel?

Jesse, there's a reason it's a "Cat-Girl Town". Miqo Seekers of the Sun live in patriarchal communities inhabited by one alpha male, the "Nunh", his mates and daughters. Occasionally an immature or unsuccessful challenger male will live there too, they have the "Tia" addition to their names. But only the Nunh is allowed to father children.
Keepers of the Moon Miqo's don't do this, iirc they're actually a matriarchal society.
Yep, in fact, they are so matriarchal that boys don't even get real names - just names that mean "first son of ", "second son of ", etc.
E.G. a Keeper of the Moon lady named "Okhi Nbolo"'s firstborn son would be named "Okhi’a Nbolo", her next born son would be named "Okhi’to Nbolo". Her daughters would get unique given names, such as "Sizha Nbolo" or "Cemi Nbolo".
I’m just now here because I wanted to do the quests myself first. I’ve seen lots of cat boy players with Tia as their last name and now I wonder how many are aware of its meaning
@@BottledDelusion I doubt most do. They likely just either hit randomize until they hit a name they liked or just changed the first name. What's really funny is seeing a Nunh running around, adventuring (and you can get Nunh from the random names).

Personally, I see Hildibrand's voice as either being a bombastic rendition of Patrick Warburton (Family Guy (Joe Swanson), Emperor's New Groove (Kronk), and many others), or as Anthony Sardinha (Indus from Epithet Erased).

I haven't done these quests in awhile so every time he doesn't speak to the rest of the npcs and just does the objective I feel that lol >.
I'm going to say this to everyone playing or just interested in this game, and I don't care how it makes me sound. If you can't appreciate this questline, you have literally no sense of humor. You may, in fact, be a rock. A literal piece of sediment.

Hmm, so I've been arguing with a friend about this for the longest time.... but... is hildabrand actually a zombie, or is he just stupidly lucky? The amount of situations that should have killed him, even by FF14 standards, is staggering.
Considering how strong his father and mother are, it just runs in the family. I don't think they are normal hyurs, I mean Godbert does have "God" in his name.
