I still have my OG Mach One I bought when I was 15. Complete survivor.
I just want to say, thank you Phu for teaching me how to lace a wheel. Out of all the videos out there, yours was the easiest to learn from. Thanks for another fun video!
🙏🏻🙏🏻
A person can sell their property for whatever they like. The buyer can counter offer. At the end of the day, the seller is not required to hand it over because you think they should. I get offers on my 83 Blue Max. It's not for sale. I get offers on my 86 Bronco II. It's not for sale. I don't have to hand over anything because someone else thinks I should. 😂
I think you should only price match with other brick and mortar stores within 50 miles.
As far as the lowballing, if the add says negotiable I think throwing an offer 25% lower than the price is reasonable.
Anything more can be insulting unless it’s been for sale for a while.
It's wild!!! I had a 94 GT growing up just like this one. I rode the crap out of that thing. It stayed at my dad's house when I went to college and when they moved in 2009 he threw it away. 😢
Wish I had a chance to give that bike to my son to ride now.
Your story hit me hard. I had a 87 Haro Team Master, and a 88 GT Pro Freestyle Tour Team Model (pink) both bought by me delivering news papers. Turned 16, cars were more exciting at the time. My dad wanted them out of his shed. Saying "you don't ride them anymore you should sell them" I unfortunately did. Those 2 bikes are worth 6 to 7 times what I originally paid for them now. And I want them back.
I have one for sale that same year it's a great investment
I think every bmx and freestyle kid from the 80's wish they had their bike back. I moved away to stay w my dad back in 88. When i came back a year later nobody knew what happened to my bike. GT pro racer. It was decked with the best of every part. Hutch bear trap peddles, DK neck, forklifter bars. Profile cranks. If i had it today i still wouldn't sell for 2 or 3K or what ever they go for now.
Here’s my opinion on a bike like this: I don’t know the price it was originally but let’s just say it was 600. And then if you add in the factor that it may have three or four extremely rare upgrades that would’ve been Pro-spec back in the day and may be really hard to find. At that point it may have brought the bike to a 1,000 dollar bike in the 90’s. In my opinion to pay more than 3,000 is insane, but to each his own.
These bikes where $2000 to $3,000 brand new, in today's money what is that $9,000 for manufacturing standpoint with the chromoly and aluminum alone you probably can't even get the same quality tubing, Gary Turner's son Craig Turner's is manufacturing GTs right now and is still not engineering the dropouts to this level it was the height of the industrial revolution of the '90s manufacturing and these bike were a product of great resources remember a lot of this aircraft quality tubing was military surplus that became available to the public
nostalgia is expensive.
@@RonaldHeaton-lf7ry WTF?
I had a GT intercepter...it was probably my first "real" bmx bike. It was identical style to this. It had clear grips with the GT logo with wings on the bars. I loved that bike.
Glad you’re good after your boat accident Phu!
At least it didn't scalp him ear is still too close for comfort.
Fr
I just bought a Huffy HX Compe, and HX Pro, and a GT Mach One Pro yellow. All brand new BMX Race bikes. Then i bought a Dyno XR 200 tan model all og with schwinn tires and Haro Knee Savers
I’m glad you mentioned the phone for pricing because I’ve been doing that for years before buying anything. Not to mention all the research I do on a specific model before purchasing, if I’m not to familiar with the model and specs. Awesome video Phu!!
Scammers are the worst!! Thanks Phu
Hi, Phu & Alfredo 👋🏻 Always nice to hear you guys share knowledge 💯
Cool video price for 80s bike is super high but I understand why. I only buy alluminum frames to prevent rust since the bike is stored outside, I just got seats from specialized directly due to how high seats cost these days. Price match is nice but I would add 10 or 20 bucks to the price as a shop fee this might help scare lowballers away and help keep lights on. Personally I'm that guy that buys bits and pieces because I enjoy making my bikes one of a kind.
That was really your only path as a kid... building. Mostly mail order. I don't remember very many complete BMX bikes... Our local shop was a Schwinn dealer. They had a few Stings an SX 2000s... later a few Predators. That was about it for completes. Most companies didn't sell completes. Frame, Fork, Bars, maybe seat post... then you bought your parts from other companies.
@@TimMcVeyI always wondered why my uncles and his friends bikes where so kitted out with so many custom parts
I agree its better to buy in a physical store than buying online..also nice advice on research n price matching..thanks for the advice
some of these bikes are soooo rare- they they need to be advertised online just to find a buyer. Tjis bike retailed for about 450 bucks in 1994.
That’s crazy! Diving and bmx are my two favorite things to do!
I’d like to add also, because I live in the UK and we’re not graced by a BMX store in every town, the online market here is big, but you do have an independent choice, I now buy most of my parts from a small independent shop which is run solely by BMX riders and enthusiasts, just one branch and they’re fantastic, full of knowledge and passion and it’s the next best thing to actually visiting the shop, this is a good option over the global retailers or Amazon sharks if you don’t have a local store…. Great video and great advice as always though thanks..
BMX store in every town? LOL
I live in the USA. We don't have a BMX store in the entire state I live in. I haven't seen a true BMX shop since the 80's. So don't let the internet fool you... they are all but non existent in the USA as well.
@@TimMcVey I had no idea, when he was saying don’t go online visit your local store it gave me the impression the US had one in every town, all the more reason to try and get mail order from an independent I guess, let’s keep those guys running.
@@jonsharman6853 I have a local bike shop... about 40 minutes away. I support as much as I can. It's a really small shop and doesn't really stock the stuff I want... so I mail order quite a bit from PlanetBMX.
I'm all for supporting the little guy for sure. I just can't justify having the shop order stuff that I can order cheaper and get faster myself. If it's in stock... I'm likely to impulse buy and overspend a bit.
But I get that he can't possibly stock everything... and as an old BMX racer, my taste is probably a lot different than the kids in the town he operates in.
This dude is hilarious I can watch his stuff all day
Foo..you're the man brother. I love your videos.. I wish their was an Epic BMX up north. You guys live and love life! Retro Bmx for life... thank you
i used to have a blue mach one back in the 80`s. i let my friend borrow it and never saw it again. the end.
I had a 1982 GT Pro my mom won for me in a drawing from JC Penney. It was stolen around 1987. I later got a 1989 GT Dyno VFR. Mom gave it away after I moved out of the house in 1994 thinking I didn't want it. I moved half way across country and could only pack so much into my 1990 Corolla. I miss those GT's especially the Pro.
Lol, I sold my '95 pro series frame and forks in 1997 for like $80 😅.
Absolutely love that the OG GT's are bringing big money. I used to race BMX & still have every single one of my GT's (& Schwinns & HAROs & Treks &...). I'll never sell em but glad to know when I'm gone, Somebody will cash in big. Bikes were LIFE for me & my friends until about 15 going on 16 when Cars & Women came into the picture. Both of which are the worst investments a man can make. I don't think I have a Pro Series but I have Power Series, Power Series 1.0 (Box), Mach Two (yeah boi) & I can't recall if I still have the Mach One or the Intercepter because ONE of those I had some 19 Year old down the street "stole" it when I was 15 & let his peasant ass borrow it.
What I'm NOT very ecstatic about is the price of freakin AAPro's. I know it's been this way for years at this point but I cannot believe what people are selling & buying GT AAPro's in ANY condition for. Primarily horrible from what I've seen. Man, those were like $17.95 out the door at my local Schwinn/GT Bike Shop & I bought about eleventeenhundred of them back in the day. Rode em down to the wires & junked or burned them.
When you mentioned the Mach one. I perked up so much😅. I loved that bike!
Price match is unfair to most local bike shops. I rarely low-ball even if the item was posted for almost a year. One thing I hate though is that when I sell something and I price it way lower all my DMs would ask "what is the issue?" and when I tell them it doesn't have and I just want it disposed immediately they stop responding.
Ive been eyeing a 94 Mach 1 thats in great conditiion on offer up for 1k. Not sure if its worth it?
There is Guardian Angels watching over that Phu… glad you are still here(hope I spelled it correctly)
You got any haro 48s for sale. looking for the 3/8 axle set. lookin for an older team model performer GT 88-89 in orange. You should get a bunch of frame together in different states of decay and even newly refinished frames and talk about the values of each one and what effects that price. get some with little rust, some with a lot. etc. what's the WTP ATF frame good for? park, ramp, street, flatland?
Hell yea 🍻 Support your local bike shop!
Be safe out there Phu…the ocean is getting wild
I have a 1994 Dyno Slammer and a 1996 GT Speed Series. Slammer is in perfect condition with bull dogs, a bashboard with unused padding and 3 piece cranks. Speed series has a little bit of rust where headtube meets the downtube. These bikes are so rare that its hard to know what they are worth. I have had offers all over the place. I am currently looking for a gt pro freestyle tour from the early 90s.... havent found any i really want. id pay 5 grand if it was in perfect condition.
Scored a brand new Sunday Ex for 300$. Felt pretty good about it
I would love to see a full rebuild, cleaning And stuff of sealed bearings
Does it have a Threadless headset or not that helps find the year
People need to do their own research. I owned an ‘88 Mach One. That bike is only worth that to someone that actually wants it. I had a black and polished Pitbull brake. I had four piece GT bars. My S&M bikes and Sunday are worth more than that to me. They’re new tech and I ride translucent paint or raw. Ride what you like and can afford.
Got mine for 400 today lol what a steal 🔥
Old BMW rear windows have a similar shape and they call it the Hofmeister kink. Not official BMX lingo but, hey ! They’re both BM’s
That's how I learned and still learning! Hit that google lense now and know almost instantly lol
Tell me the difference between an 88 vertigo and a performer
I just got the 29 inch pro series BMX and it was 500 dollars off its 300 rn
Vintage bmx pricing is ridiculous..
Pouring some serious knowledge in the game.
You’ve gotta do research…especially buying used. Some people on eBay will try to sell you a frame for the price of a complete bike.
I recently messaged a seller and offered half of what he was asking…because I researched the bike and knew the value of the bike complete. He pretty much told me “I know what I’ve got”….and that’s fine…it’s his bike, he can charge what he wants. It’s been weeks and I’ve seen the frame relisted twice.
I’ll gladly pay a fair price, but I won’t get scammed. Let someone else learn that lesson the hard way.
eBay prices are not even realistic. Stuff stays on there for years and they don’t lower the price.
@@donniebrasco4114 sometimes you find something fairly priced. I ended up picking up the entire bike I was after, for a fraction of the price the other seller was asking for the frame.
But you’re correct, some people are completely delusional with their prices, and would rather sit on it forever.
I bought a gt bmx on offerup for $50 hopefully it's the OG one
Just bought a used stolen saint … I feel a lot better after watching this. Thanks my man 🫵
To me I have searched online for certain bikes like a Haro Dave Mirra local and even on fleabay and there All over the place by hundreds! Ugh...
Im afraid to lowball anyone or insult them.
But when I searched for my bike and still not sure of the correct model name. (What's a Minnion?) I couldn't find anything on it and only seen one like it currently on ebay so I guess my bmx freestyle isn't that popular.
Plus sadly a lot of MirraCo dislikers.😔
I pink out my Gt for my daughter it sick 90 Gt with pink chain ⛓️💥
Still got that red S&M ATF frame?
Foo’s tha Man my grandma would say Go play on the freeway! Hahahaha
bike GT pro series back in the days that bike cost between 650 to 850 i know i owned one brand new latest parts ,not 4000 way to much money for a bike if i had my GT pro series i would of sold it for 800 to 850 never 4 thousand but thats me....
Thank you!!
Okey loving this videos! 🤘🏼
I have plenty of bikes and 1 old school kids bike and there is no way I am paying 4 grand for a dam kids bike SHOP OWNER lol. Still liking your videos though🤙💯😎.
Exactly!!! I may go $1200 for a freestyle I want. No higher
thank you phu your awsome
Well, now that I know you, I will never ask you for price match or trying or try to lowball you. You put the price I’ll pay the price just because I’m like you guys.
thats too much lol plain and simple. nice vid
Is there a special bmx diet to heal wounds
I call the back of the frame.., duck tail
I am the creator of the Dudes In Red Panties Community and I take GREAT offense in what you said…
Cool video Phu😂
OMG! I just found the smartest person in the universe! What a lucky day
NO phu NO!!!!!!!!!!!!🧡
I wouldn't even by a car for 4k.
I've had a 85 pro series for $500
That was some funny sh%t - his shorts are getting shorter and he needs pics of homies wifes , then hes getting eaten by a seal
"How do I know this is the right price....GUUUYS"
I got a pro bmx frame new for $150 😂
all ya gotta do is google it up
$4000 for a bike you can't ride trails on without fearing for your life even when it was new? 😂😂😂
Wuzzap sir Alfredo sir ..
Gorgeous bike but desperately needs a drop nose seat
no boat is able to KO phu!
Where were you when I needed you?! 😅
I got one for a fake pair Oakleys back in high school but the kid was a real asshole so I didn't feel bad. Anyone with eyes could see the shades were fake but he was dumb as rocks. The bike was very much real, I guess it goes both ways... 😂
It's a 94
I have won a lot like that but it has brakes on the bottom it's not fake and I can't find it anywhere I know it's a Pro Bike I bought it at a yard sale my son's had the pimp bikes.... I cannot find one like mine in anywhere I was going to sell them all a mongoose Pro that my son put the I don't know who took the handlebars off the dino 25th anniversary I think it is all the parts are there accepting the garage I have the seat Paul that is bent on the bike I know it's worth a lot of money I was going to sell all those bikes 300 and I thought hell no I'm not doing it I don't know how I can sell them I can't sell stuff on eBay I need cash we we po people were not allowed to have money very very I'd rather give them away than get ripped off there is a Schwinn Le Tour does one pedal almost mint except for the being in the basement there is one that's from the 40s with original tires but not a badge it has a leather seat from probably 1910 my Huffy bike which they never die period with a basket they don't sell anymore there's more than that I have never seen a bike like the dino 25th anniversary
93
Oh man.. pls pls don’t go diving again. Just stick to riding bmx 🫢
4k ur trippin Phu. There's a 95 pro series for 12 hundred. That bike ain't that rare. There's a lot of em out there
People can ask thousands for BMX bikes and those people still have those BMX bikes. Everybody thinks their stuff is worth so much money. Wrong.
Screw Albes I ordered a wheel and they sent the hub rim and wrong spokes. Only reason I ordered complete is because I didn't know the length, Florida rednecks smh
