    Something nice about the Immolation grenades is that they seem to spread volumetrically, so if you funnel enemies down a narrow corridor and toss an Immolation grenade, you can have them travel down quite a long path of fire for quite a lot of damage.
    Zealot became my favourite of the patch. I loved the idea of a class that was more melee centric (especially for those that wanted a bit more VT2 playstyle) and the new tree finally does it for me. I went for a speed centric zealot with Immolation grenades, chorus of spiritual fortitude, Martyrdom (with Faith's fortitude), Master's retribution, and Swift certainty. Paired it with an Eviscerator and Shredder (as well as purge the unclean at the top of the tree) and it turns hordes into mush, and really gives me the feel of a number of skills and weapons from most of the VT2 heroes.

      If you're on PC there's plenty of helpful mods on nexusmods. Changing friendly zealot fire is one of them. Unfortunately it can't just recolor it at the moment, it needs to do a particle swap with something else in the game, and the only two things you can change it to are nurgle goo or nurgle vomit, but either one are very noticably not bad to stand in unless you're in the specific situation of fighting that boss. At any other time it's trivial to tell if it's friendly or not.

    • @ShiningDarknes
      @ShiningDarknes Год назад

      Hate to say it but the options in that mod do not change my "unless you are colorblind" except maybe the green fire but then you circle right back around to "I can't fucking see through this fire (which is why I hate any vet who uses the smoke grenade, FFS fatshark let the player see through it or make it mark enemies inside or something).@@Paradoxikality

  • @mr6291
    @mr6291 Год назад +23

    Fury of the Faithful has another small bit of utility to it. You can use it to slam your body into a group of enemies (like a big group of ragers and bruisers) to give them a brief stagger. When using a thunder hammer, you have to get used to being surrounded. This adds a bit of utility to your move-set when used properly and can make you more comfortable in tense situations.

    • @xnucleartater
      @xnucleartater Год назад +8

      To add on to this, when charging at a sniper within your 20m range, your Fury of the Faithful negates any sniper shot, allowing you to face tank the shot and take down the sniper in melee if required.

    One thing I'd like to note: I haven't had the time (read: couldn't be bothered) to test it out in the Psykanium to make sure that's the case, but I think I've noticed in missions that, after finishing my holy relic ult and getting my 100 over-toughness, and then losing that over-toughness, I was still able to replenish that over-toughness through toughness-on-kill for what seemed to be the duration of the over-toughness buff itself. If it actually is the case, it's probably a bug, but I still wanted to mention it. :)

    • @Broomtwo
      @Broomtwo Год назад +2

      I don't think its a bug, sounds like its intended. I think its just while you have the buff your maximum toughness is increased so it can go up and down, kinda makes sense

    • @romanpyatibratov4361
      @romanpyatibratov4361 10 месяцев назад

      It increases your max toughness by giving over-toughness.
      If it wasnt patched since patch 13 - that means it works as intended.
      It does have some interactions, that not many people know about. For example you get health damage if you got hit while your toughness is not full.
      Yellow over-toughness allows you to get hit in melee several times without taking health dmg. Easiest to check with mutant grabs as he slams you on the ground few time. Usually first slam removes some toughness and 2 other dmg your health. With over-toughness you wont get health dmg as he deals dmg to your yellow toughness. And game only counts for blue one.
      Same goes for veteran talent. While above 75% toughness - gain 50% toughness reduction. Also counts for over-toughness. Which makes Voice of Command veteran incredibly tanky (as long as you kill specialists/elites and get headshot kills)

    The 100% cd increase is made literally irrelevant if you pick the “backstab kills give 20% cooldown” so 30s increased to a minute. K but no matter what 5 backstabs gets it back. So if you want the strongest thunderclap on-tap go for this because it literally has no downsides (fun fact when wildly swinging crucius heavies into crowds while pushing forward and waving your camera around sometimes it registers hits from the second half of the swing as hits to the back but even if they don’t it will knock over anything it doesn’t kill and said knocked enemies almost always end up with their backs to you for a follow-up.

    Is it just me or does the central keystone not really synergise that well with the rest of the tree? Seems very durability focused but needs you to be quite dead to work. Maybe I'm approaching the trinkets wrong but I also don't see much else useful to put points into.

    I found martyrdom is less useful as a damage buff and more useful as sort of a tanky fail-safe. The damage and attack speed buffs are amazing, but it's really the damage reduction plus wounds that shine. Plus the perk that reduces damage that reaches the next wound state by 50%, you are essentially taking half damage to your health the whole game.Having so many wounds also allows for more aggressive play styles that can risk taking hits or going down even (given you know your team can pick you back up). That paired on top of healing corruption aura, you will never lose max health unless going down or picking up grimoires (even then you heal a lot of grimoire corruption).
    You never want to be at low health with it. You want to be at full health. Just because you aren't getting active buffs doesn't mean the build is bad, it means you're playing well enough that the buffs aren't needed. It instead kicks in when you're in the thick of combat, gives your damage the extra kick you might need and tankiness to survive the encounter.
    Granted the whole play style centers around a slow start and your whole build will have to center around martyrdom. But you gain more tankiness and damage the longer you fight between healing. That means the harder you fight in a mission, the stronger you become. You can forgo medicae stations unless you've been downed a lot and can give it to your squishier back line or to a tankier ogryn. Hell, you can straight up tank a demonhost (granted you trust your team to kill it).

    I’ve been trying to make a low health build work in DT, but I think they need to re-examine it or tune it some more. This is almost directly from the Saltzpyre zealot character from Vermintide 2, but unlike in that game where you can sustain yourself from the temp health mechanic, there is no such thing in DT and so much can go wrong or pierce through shielding which makes making low health builds harder, I think.
    Tangentially, so much of the new talent tree reminds me of VT2 abilities. Veteran smoke bomb and invis reminds me of Bardin’s ranger vet abilities. Zealot infiltrate and backstab skills remind me of Kerillian’s Shade class. Others are like warrior priest, assail reminds me of waystalker trueflight volley, even complete with the ability to reduce cd by 30%. There’s even a shout to revive teammates like Kruber’s mercenary class. I’m not upset, just really fascinated by how much feels lifted directly from VT2.

    I really like martyrdom I have 3 wound curios to help out with it. The thing with martyrdom is that you don't want to never heal and stay at low health all the time instead it's more like an insurance policy, this way when things get dicey you grow in power and can when needed murder in some breathing room for you and your allies all the while you get a flat increase on attack speed, damage and damage reduction.
    Adding on the ability to reduce damage that puts you to the next wound to take big hits makes those last 3-4 out of my 7-10 total wounds near impossible to get rid off

    I've used both Blazing Piety and Inexorable Judgement. Blazing Piety is better with weapons with low crit where you want those nodes that are effected by crit. However, if you run a weapon with that already has high crit (such as the Combat Knife), Inexorable Judgement's value either matches or overtakes Blazing Piety due to it favoring high mobility builds. I've been going back and forth between the two keystones with my Knife Zealot and both feel very good. Inexorable Judgement out damages Blazing Piety sometimes but the attack speed fluctuations can sometimes feel odd, but the value of the Toughness boost it gives cannot be overstated. It turns my Knife Zealot into a Dodge Tank.

Meaning that instead of soaking up all incoming melee damage that you would take until the overcharge is gone and then the bleedthrough damage comes, the moment you aren't completely full with your new temporary max toughness, you get bleedthrough. It doesn't change much, of course as you should be wary of melee attacks at any time, but I still feel scammed that I got downed while having the extra toughness from bleedthrough damage, as I tried to use it to save myself and my allies from being overrun. Until they fix that, the extra toughness is a gimmick at best, not a too important ability. As it is now, this toughness ability is only truly good if you're pinned down by a lot of gunners and don't have anything that can deal with them from that far away, it is not a good idea to use it to protect yourself from bleed through damage at all.
    TL;DR not an awful ability, but glitched and needs a small hotfix.

    my favorite was the crit build, even without daggers.
    right side has good toughness damage reduction and bleed, left side gives free starter crit to start rolling and that 20% attack speed, then you go apeshit with fury and permanently stuck in. i rarely have trouble clearing any hoards, and gunners fear my 12 pocket knives !

    Stealth Zealot made knives viable in Damnation. Not only that, it's actually pretty damned good, compared to my Mk7 heavy sword which has issues with crushers but no problems with crowds or my Antax which has no problems with crushers, but not exactly optimal with crowds. Combined with the Sprinting counts as dodging talent, sprinting in response to the backstabbing suck sound is no longer a bad response, but is instead a pretty good way to stack some momentum. It makes Zealot somehow even more high effort to play, but man is it fun.
    And landing knives on far away snipers never gets old.

    I wanted to call attention to two less flashy but no less valuable talents. Shield of Contempt provides a massive 75% DR for 4 seconds every 10 seconds to anyone in coherency that takes damage and Restoring Faith returns 25% of any damage you take as health. These two together drastically improve your durability and they both still work while bleeding out giving your team a significant increase in available time to save you in the event you go down.

    • @Subforum
      @Subforum Год назад

      Shield of Contempt seems amazing, but I was curious how the cooldown works. Does it trigger and go on CD for the entire team if anyone gets hit, or does it have a separate cooldown for each individual player? The latter would basically make it 4x more effective if everyone on the team is taking an occasional hit.

      Also like how the "drunken stance" node adds at least a little sustain to your momentum.
      Even 8 or 10% extra damage and attack speed on a bolter or shotgun makes a difference. Let alone for an eviscerator or thunder hammer with the melee attack speed and damage. Not out of this world of course, but a nice bit of filler to round out a build if your pathing permits. Does make me wish I could get momentum for the Veteran though... Can you imagine a plasma gun with that and the crit chance and all from their tree!? Would be fekkin insane, m8

    The problem I have with the knives and firebomb is the opportunity cost of not taking the buffed version of the best grenade in the game. It isn't like Ogryn, Psyker or Vet where all (or most in vet case) are about equal. It is very lopsided due to the sheer power of stunning now massive areas.
    The assassin tree aura helps with last man standing but also promotes bad play styles. So many wannabe ninjas just keep dying half a mile away from everyone else. Also does literally nothing if in coherency.
    As for keystone, I feel like only one is consistent to take. While a wound build is a neat concept, you cannot hit the cap, ever, in missions where you would want to hit it. Also taking that many wounds means your stamina, toughness and health are going to be bad.
    Don't get me wrong, I love the zealot but 1 amazing blitz, 2 good abilities, 2 good auras and 1 consistent keystone, does limit build potential.
    It is nice with how fast zealots are when running around with anything though. It is an indirect buff to the slow run weapons.
    This is also not saying I don't like the assassin side of the tree. I do and I have clutched with it but it feels like I am not doing anything to help the team, just allows myself to play mall ninja for a little bit.

    Be wary of playing as, or more importantly with, stealth zealots. When they go into stealth they of course drop all aggro. Which means those 3 maulers and 2 crushers that they were dodge-tanking as you as the nearbye ranged guy was blasting away are now going to be instantly on your ass to stomp you into greasy paste.
    More than once I've seen squad situations degrade badly when a stealth zealot gains a bunch of aggro only to go inviso-ninja and drop it all leaving his ranged teammates scrambling to compensate as he runs around trying to get a single backstab off.

    Blazing Fury and Chorus of Fortitude combo. I really like this in Auric, especially Maelstrom Quickplay where players tend to get cocky and get punished by a tide of armored specials. Let them reconsider their life choices for a second, recover, and hit back hard.
    The shroud.... meh. I find I used it primarily for rezzing teammates. It's clutch if your team gets downed a lot, but with high ping, a one-shot clutch hit on a monstrosity can be a coin toss. Otherwise, not that useful. The big boys come in waves, and backstabbing one will leave you in a middle of an angry crowd. Maybe with revolver and long shots, I'd rather leave specials to the other classes though.
    The classic zealot still good. Double rush, go in, stun and kill a bunch, go out.

      Right now I'm just lvling my zealot to 30 as im 25 and shopping for stronger weapons so I can reach certain breakpoints(like one tapping certain enemies with certain weapons).
      I used to have cracked out characters on the gamepass server, even having all the OG accomplishments that unlocked all the clothes tied to achievements, so I'm basically lvling all these things again. My go to build was a lacerate blade with flamethrower with awesome blessings, curio was all about HP.
