IT was respect. Ben Wade knew that even if he went to Yuma he would get out. So he did it out of respect for Bale's character. To show his son he was a man.
exactly, many viewers failed to get the reason why wade killed his gang, this was the reason the film was made & what the filmmaker is trying to convey , dan told wade he had never succeeded at anything & his son doesn't view him as a hero, wife too.
I think this movie is about the value of men. We have two different characters, but in a way they're the same because they somewhat hold the same values (honor, courage, etc) and so they both respected each other
@@KyleS3m3noff yeah Open Range was good, I just have so many memories with this movie in particular. Until I was about 12 or so I didn't even know it was a remake. Usually remakes are the bad versions that don't live up but I think this movie nailed it especially with the cast. You can't really go wrong with Christian Bale and Russel Crowe though to be fair.
@@watsondillon1997 mate, I totally get it. This is one of those rare examples of a remake improving on the original. I know it's verging on blasphemy to say, but I actually think the True Grit remake is a superior film as well.
@@waitingforgodot355 As soon as Jimmy said he hates him in everything he's in I thought of Mystery, Alaska. He was such a nice guy in that. Kinda funny, Russell Crowe egged him on in that movie to get him to be tough and Durand's character in this egged Crowe's character on to the point of murdering him.
one of the best "revisionist" westerns made in recent years. "Slow West", "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford" are also terrific movies and beautifully shot and acted.
It came up on Netflix and since I loved western-themed movies such as The Good, The Bad and The Ugly and games like Red Dead Redemption I gave it a watch and really enjoyed it, definitely the best western since Clint Eastwood’s Unforgiven.
HAHAHAHHAHAH i love how you guys disagree on things and stay calm and mellow throughout the disagreements, not look at each other but are speaking directly to one another. it's quite hysterical.
If you enjoy western movies, you should try True Grit . It's a remake of a classic western by the Coen Brothers ( Just knowing that you know it's good).
Although True Grit was outstanding (Stenfield legitimately smashed it out of the park, and the only actress there will ever be that could stand toe to toe with Kim Darby as the tough little silver tounged shit talking titan in cinema history. That was a movie destined to be a crass shitpile but those involved turned it into a fine film), I adore the original way more (the ending the Coens is faithful to and works in a long form series like a book, but the 1969 movie ending is the right one for me)..
@@Zenon0K I didn't watch the original movie from start to finish, only clips of classic scenes, but I'll get right on it then I'm curious about the ending if it's different! Thanks :D
If you like this movie you should check out Hostiles (2018) it has a lot of the same cast Christian Bale, Ben Foster as well as a bunch of other great actors. Best movie from 2018 in my opinion
It's a good movie, but the part that really impressed me when I first watched it was the audio effects during the gunfights, especially the big one at the end.
If you like Russel Crowe and great movies, Master & Commander: The Far Side of the World(2003). One of those underrated movies that somehow EVERYONE loves and you will too.
Love this movie but the only thing i don't like is how the ending was done and it was not how ben Wade's gang was killed and it was not how they didnt end it with Dan's wife getting the money but it was the way they killed dan off, he literally could've hopped onto the train to take cover from ben Wade's goonies but he just started having conversation with the man like nothing else was going on,its like what did u expect to happen for them to stop shooting, and look the only reason I'm saying this is because this movie could've been a 10/10 if it wasnt for that one issue and honestly I expected dan to die but not in that stupid and idiotic way that's all
I'm still not sure what to think about this movie...the ending didn't get me at all, overall a good movie, but not great. Ben Foster is the stand-out in the movie, that's for sure. If I can recommend two (modern) Westerns, it's 'Seraphim Falls' (2006) and an Aussie ''Western'' 'The Proposition' (2005), the latter is for sure one of my favorite movies made since 2000.
You REALLY, REALLY, need to change your mic setup. Guy on the right is in the left, guy in the left is in the right. I enjoy your reactions... but please take the time to fix this...? Please and thank you. Good stuff as always. =)
The director, James Mangold, was super into the idea of making a modern western movie. The closest he came to achieving this goal was with a movie called 'Copland' ... and it's super dope. Not a great name, but a great movie. Sly Stallone (doing the best acting of his career by a mile) plays a sheriff cleaning up a town full of dirty cops... it's fuckin' awesome. And the climax is one of the all-time great movie endings. Strongly recommend it.
IT was respect. Ben Wade knew that even if he went to Yuma he would get out. So he did it out of respect for Bale's character. To show his son he was a man.
Yh and he did, coz he called for his horse whilst on the train

Ben Foster managing to command every scene he's in while surrounded by fucking KAIJUS of the acting world is a testament to exactly how good he is.
I literally could not agree more with absolutely every word you said.
This movie is so underrated. It's also directed by the same guy that directed Logan and Girl, Interrupted. To name a few.
James Mangold. Walk the line is another great movie he made 😍
@@Ninaofthe90s He's got a great filmography. Definitely worth a deep dive.

Ben Foster is terrifying in every role he plays.
You must not have seen him in Six Feet Under then...
Rather terri*fick in every role he plays!
One of the most underrated movies I've seen
Ben Wade killed his team because they represented his evil. He was just playing and having fun till Evans got killed.
Ben Foster is one of the most underutilized actors of his generation. Dude is so fucking good in everything he's in.
Word. One of my favorites!
This is one of my favorite modernized Westerns I've ever seen.
This and Open Range.

If they make a Red Dead Redemption adaptation then Ben Foster needs to play Micah.

Yes

what a coincidence I watched this the other day for the first time since release. Got the urge after rewatching Hostiles where Bale is phenomenal.

Thank you for this reaction.
And bravo for still being the only reactor to watch this movie, you've cornered the 3:10 to Yuma market!
Actor played Butterfield was Milton in Walking Dead
Yes Dallas Roberts is such an underrated actor

Peter Fonda in one of his last roles as the stagecoach shotgun.

I watched this in a local bar one night, the movie and the experience was pretty cool lol

Wade killing the crew is part of his clean getaway, I guess.

The Western is one of the best genres of all time! You guys have to check out the Magnificence 7, with Denzel Washington!

If you haven’t seen Wind River I recommend.
Phenomenal movie. Ben Foster is fantastic.
Great movie
Watch Unforgiven & No country for old men
Also try reacting to Rounders or Mollys Game or Fury
Fury would be a great reaction!
Highly recommend tombstone, Young Guns, And Butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid
Tombstone was fantastic!
If you thought Ben Foster was menacing in this...you should check out John Cusack in Never Grow Old!
Review Red Hill 2010
Watch Logan Lerman (''William Evans'') in 'Fury' (2014).
Gone Girl next
React to Gonr Girl, Freefire, Blood Diamond or Upgrade
Already watched gone girl and he reacted to upgrade
I dig you guys. But you really need to solve your audio/echo situation!
Come on!
Christian Bale...please watch Empire of the Sun - Steven Spielberg directed - Christian Bales FIRST movie - John Malovich - WW2
