As someone with PTSD/CPTSD and a plethora of mental illnesses I absolutely loved this scene as a teenager. I just went mute and glared at the professionals I didn't like, but anyway this is so much more realistic and I loved this film due to Scout's performances. Respect to Zombie for taking a more realistic approach with PTSD.
God she was so adorable and happy in the first one now she's a classic PTSD case. Great actress 👍🏽
This is how you write a character. She's acts out very emotionally which is what makes it so real.

Scout wore NO make-up throughout the movie, except for a couple of scars.
A LOT different from the sweet and lovely "Laurie" she played in the first film.

The last bit was so spot on for what it's like when you're so anxious from your ptsd that you go through your meds and you flip out. This recently happened to me but during a panic attack, I was trying to open my medicine bottle and my last few circled into the sink. So that made the panic attack worse so I called my Dr very upset and he said "the insurance company dgaf what your story is." And he was being very mean about it. I eventually found some in my travel bag after the fact but it really sucks when you rely on it. I just like how honest this depiction is.
This is one of my favorite scenes in the movie. I relate to Laurie.

She did a good job!! Liked the scene. The therapist also did a good job but particularly the girl was awesome!

To be honest, if I was ever attacked and had a sibling of mine try to murder me with a giant butcher knife, I would probobaly act the same. I wouldn't be able to get control of myself and would just loose it.

I've had those days. Word of advice: Don't fear your dark side. It's a counterbalance to everything about you that's good. You need it. Don't fear it. God gave you two sides for a reason. Take your demons and own them. Turn your rage into something productive. Distract yourself from paranoia. There's no such thing as a perfect mindset. The only perfection is balance. Keep that in mind the next time you're afraid of yourself. You shouldn't be. You have a choice. You're playing the game. There are many"cheat codes," to manage your broken pieces or your inner evil. Make the devil your b...(female dog).

She is suffering from post traumatic stress like nobody's business! She also seems to be suffering from survivor's guilt. Michael Myers really did a number on her, but can you blame her? All of her friends were murdered one by one, then, he stalks, terrorizes her. She's afraid the whole thing will happen again, and won't be able to heal unless she knows without a doubt 100% Michael Myers is really dead!

That's why I was so satisfied when she tore him apart with his own knife. But you can tell by the look on her face at the end that she can't be healed anymore. There's no hope for her. Michael is still alive through her now. Wether you believe it's supernatural or phycological. Evil never dies. It just finds another host.

This my favorite part in this movie alone. Especially the way Laurie acts. A great example of PTSD/CPTSD. I have it due to different circumstances but relationships are hard for me sometimes because it's hard for me to trust others at time. Especially feeling isolated, depressed and anxiety. Anger is a symptom I thought I'd never have but I do. It's one symptom alone that upsets me, because I end up hating myself anytime I flip out, but it's due to anxiety and feeling as if I'm in danger. "I can't deal with this. I'm not strong enough, and I'm tired of pretending that I am!" That line right there hit home. Things are getting better for me, and I'm so glad I found a therapist who truly understands trauma. ❤

Suffering from ptsd is a monster in its own self. Not to mention when she sees similarities and starts feeling like she’s turned into the monster... why do people who’s been through stuff feel like there becoming like the same monster that hurt them?
Sometimes it's just in a persons nature. They get sick of being the victim and decide to turn the tables (often without even realizing it)
This is not even accurate. It’s a Hollywood depiction of PTSD
@@brianaguilar8283 you'd be surprised. It's kind of a rarity, but there have been PTSD cases in real life like hers. Worse than hers, actually.

how can anyone say scout is a bad actress? she was pretty impressive in this scene, especially since this is a horror movie. let's face it, usually movies in the horror genre do not have this caliber of acting. i really hope she gets to have more chances to show off her talent in other roles. and plus scout is a lot, LOT better than most actresses her age out there today.

lol when this movie came out i swear i was one of the rare few who loved it for what it was. a psychological horror. mind u im a huge halloween fan in general. the only thing that i dont like is that the score is missing, not that it had to be in every scene but once or twice would have been nice. and i feel like the horse and sherry moon zombie was a bit much. i dont really under stand where he was going with that. it had that weird family connection from halloween 5. my only theory is that theyre experimenting with the idea that those who inflict trauma infect their victims with that same evil. cause ur never the same again, its easier to lash out in anger especially at those who have it "good" and want to hurt them cause they have what u dont. kinda like laurie does here with annie. although annie is scarred and phobic about leaving the home as oppose to how out going she was in the first one she does still have her father. laurie effectively has nothing compared to that. doesnt mean she isnt grateful but her life fell apart in the biggest way. its not a halloween film, this is something different an exploration of cause and effect. and yes zombie falters here and there in writing. but this is one of the few horror sequels where we get to actually see how our survivors are doing as opposed to them being just fine with no scars, physical or mental. here no one is the same, everyone is reacting naturally and as a young kid struggling with ptsd my self it made me feel less alone to see scouts performance. especially these sessions with the i could give a fuck for 100 bucks an hour line (pure gold btw) and her frustrations with how slow the healing process is.. that to me just encapsulated how i felt in therapy week in and out wanting to be rid of the shit in my head, of the experiences, of the pain. angry at the fact that the more i pushed it away and tried to be ok the more it found me. shit its 6 years after the fact and i still struggle. people who dont suffer from ptsd just dont understand that it never goes away. its life long. scouts performance is spot on and ill always be grateful for that cause when people basically write u off as a nut case most of the time if u let it slip ur not A-ok a movie like this goes a long way in making u feel less alone.

This film, H20, and Halloween 2018 all capture different sides of trauma. Friday the 13th Part 5 also represents trauma well.
