i even find it difficult too especially when at school i had to deal with period pain during heavy period. i got moody and easily distracted in class. imagine being an idol and having a hectic schedule like them. they must be suffering. however they still manage to maintain their expression and be professional. i give them respect.
These female idols deserve better. They should be able to wear flats (as in shoes) and wear warm clothes. Like, be humane. This goes against human rights.
Smaller number of group members focusing on voice qualities as well as visuals would mean better talent thus lessening the need for agencies putting the performers in precarious situations with their outfits. That applies to both male and female. If you are truly talented you can force opinions to be recognized!
@Albert YK Chen If they feel forced to do something they don't want to do, then that is against their rights. 1st world human rights is no different the 3rd world human rights, only difference is in the aspect. Mental vs physical but both involve human rights...
@Albert YK Chen What if they don’t want to be sexualised or uncomfortable? They’re human beings, they should be treated like one. A lot of them go into the industry so young, they have no clue what’s going on.
@Albert YK Chen True but I think in most cases, those parents aren't aware or just want their children to be happy. But if they are fully aware, then there should be more cases of parents getting their children to leave those companies for good.
Fans always complain about companies forcing their female idols to diet. But sometimes, the real evil here are fans themselves. You body-shame them, criticize them and make fun of them. They are struggling because of fans like that...
People want to blame the companies but ignore that the only reason that this stuff happens is because of fan perception of idols. They have to be the perfect shape. They have to be the perfect weight. They have to look a certain way. Their performances have to be perfect. Then they wonder why idols get anxiety and mental health problems when it comes to performing and take it out on the company. Maybe look at yourselves first for the industry being the way it is.

Yea and the fact that most of them are girls is what makes me sad. Women should be uplifting women but instead we are just being the cause of harm for others
It's the most horrible thing to perform on their menstruation. Fans should respect their idols and there hardships too rather than say they are being unprofessional, they are also human.
Every women is expected to work weather or not they are on their periods. However of course shaming a girl for it and turning it into taboo subject is just plain stupid. Half of the population has it, why are we still ashamed to talk openly about it
Men always wear full clothes so the girls should also wear appropriate clothes and don't listen to the criticizers cause they can catch so many disease

It’s sad that revealing clothes are essential in the industry. Modesty and warm clothes can be stylish too. - don’t know how the comment section resulted into a cultural war since this comment obviously and clearly just states that if idols or performers are cold they should be able to wear long clothes. Moreover, nowadays it seems that very thin and short clothes are considered more attractive which is why I brought up the point “modesty” which is dressing more (in this case according to the weather) and still be attractive. Ain’t got nothing to do with religion. Be respectful. That’s a start for preventing misunderstandings. :)
Yes why do girls wear short clothes to reveal their body to men ??or to show off their body ?Logically men are getting whatthey want 'women in short clothes to lust upon' and women are giving them exactly what they want by wearing short clothes . Men have been a lot vocal about short clothes and when someone is molested its ultimately blamed on the size of cloth . Girls dont let men control and brainwash you . ?Men wear full clothes in almost all circumstances but women attire are just getting shorter day by day and that's concerning. Modest clothing should be provided to these female idols cause they are at a risk of being preyed on by men hope they are safe .
And what's even crazier is that Korea has a huge problem with women owning up to their bodies and if you are not modest, apparently you're trash? (Refer back to what happened to Sulli) But then, these companies are forcing the girls to show skin all the time? Make it make sense :(
Being a female idol is not easy...and also male...in conclusion ...kpop industry is very troublesome... only some groups can become famous...and the others who spent years training never get what they deserve!
If we take an example of our life....it's like you getting a well known job and recognition and other who also try hard or less compare to other doesn't get the well known recognize job...tho you do get job but not like the other. All our life are just same as the idol. It just that we have different field.

Its so different in the western like why can't it be like that too I know the group who started kpop as kpop were seo taji and the boys, they sang about the government and rebelling and stuff like that What the heck does that have to do with these rules who came up with these seriously
@@dh.9829 this all kind of rules are actually made because of people in this world who are very judgemental and useless who want comments or criticize whenever they want. They made the concept and companies work on what people want for. And try to ignore the uninvited problems.
things that need to tolerate : 1. Idols are also human. They know pain, tired, feeling, love 2. Fans DO NOT own idols. so, we have NO right to tell what's best for them. That's their company's job 3. No matter if that show has many viewers, idols' HEALTH should ALWAYS comes first. 4. Just because they are female idols, it does not mean, they should be girly at all times. If fans can diss idols, idols can also diss fans (careful with your words)
I dont think it's their company's job to tell them what's best for them cuz most of the time the company is just as bad or worse than fans when it comes to criticizing an idols appearance or personality
There's a few people that like chubby people. But in general a healthy looking person has a limited amount of fat. So chubby can be perceived as borderline fat/unhealthy. It's basically written in our genes to not want to like that. This is enforced by modern media to certain extremes to be sure. But fat people? Well, I wouldn't promote that. One, you're unhealthy and likely to have all sorts of complications, grievances or struggle with self image (don't think that this is external, especially for women). And a second part is how the outside world treats them. It's naieve to think people "shouldn't do this" because it is what people do and always will do. "Can't we all just get along" never helped anyone in practice. It's idealistic and unrealistic.
I really trust him, idk he just look like a good guy. The way he's talking about blackpink's member and interacted with them in the doc was just heart warming. And it's just pure.
The period thing is no joke. I was a ballerina and at the start of every new year or new class we were told that periods don’t give us any excuse to miss even one minute of class and that we have to dance as if everything is fine. I have endometriosis and get such extreme cramps that I had to be give prescription medicine to take the edge off the pain. And it’s not just cramps like most people think. Many of us get extremely nauseous, dizzy, get headaches/migraines, have horrible back pain etc. and it always makes us way more self conscious too because we’re always worried that it will show through our clothes. Imagine being on your period and performing while wearing a white tutu.... I’d never been so uncomfortable wearing anything in my life than a white tutu during my period.
This may sound werid but I think 🤔 jennie from blackpink gets painful period cramps 😫 cuz when people were calling her lazy she was Probably in pain and that one time she left the stage at concert she looked like she was about Puke and I deal with these problems i can't even leave the house cuz of it

well the one who cause this is other girls most likely. the one criticizing and body shaming. anyway boys usually have harder dance moves, and their moves usually use more energy. boys also have bigger disadvantage if they happen to be short. since height is harder to be manipulated, through surgery. girls being short are more acceptable, some even considered cute.

i hate how the double standard is REAL, when a male group does sth wrong, no one attacks them, everyone protects them, but when a girl group does something wrong, or not even wrong, or doesn’t dance 100%, they get attacked, it’s so sad, it hurts knowing that the double standard is real, being an idol is hard, but being a FEMALE IDOL is WAY HARDER, they get slvtshamed on the internet everyday, they get attacked everyday even if they did nothing wrong, when they smile, they get attacked for trying to “be the attention”, when they don’t smile, they get attacked for “being rude”, when they don’t react to other gps’ performances, they are called “rude”, but it’s always fine when a male idol does that, YOU DONT OWN IDOLS. THEY REACT IF THEY WANT. THEY SMILE IF THEY WANT. And what can be worse is when the time you're about to perform, then your period came- (Or when you're in the middle of the performance and your period came)Gosh, that would be embarrassing, and it is gonna be very painful when you're in the cold weather. I really felt bad for the female idols.
the saddest thing is that it's not just men who make female idols' lives difficult. yes, men have and continue to violate the idols' safety, privacy and boundaries, and that should be called out, but i don't think we pay nearly enough attention to how women too often are the source of other women's hardships. it's often female fans who make fatphobic comments and body shame idols and female managers have a horrible record of forcing the idols they're supposed to be looking after to starve/ over-exercise while fat-shaming them. Female staff too often are complicit in wrecking these women's (and young girls) self-esteem, mental health and physical health. the worst part is that most of the time they're not doing it with evil intentions the way men do. It's trauma that they've experienced and internalised from men, and are projecting onto other women because that's the standard for them.
Its disgusting how they rate you based on your looks but thats how the industry works . If you ain't got looks above average your nothing in society and I truly wish it wasn't like that .
There are a lot of female idols that don’t fit the beauty standard at all like Chaeyeon, Chaeryoung, Soyeon, etc and these girls are legitimately so talented and geniuses in their skills but all K-netz talk about is how “ugly” they look (when they’re not even ugly at all). It honestly makes me furious. Imagine the constant negativity you as an average person receive over there for not being beautiful. I heard plastic surgery clinics over there also come up to you on the streets and point out every flaw and insecurity in your face to urge you to go to their clinic to get something done. It’s beyond disgusting.

The way that female idols have to wear really short skirts doesnt sit right to me u can see theyre uncomfortable like use joy from red velvet as an example in almost every performance and im not even joking she has to wear short skirts its like the stylist hates her and seulgi on the other hand gets styled so well she outshines the other members i luv all the girls but this stylist 🙂
Red Velvet is known for having the worst stylists. Not ugly clothes in particular but they get dressed into unfitting clothes that do not match their body type and are just too tight. Not all of them have the same body type yet the stylists dress without considering the type of body shape each member has. Especially Joy and Yeri, they put them into ill-fitting clothes making their body look like they are going to burst. (I’m not fat shaming them at all, just pointing out how clothes that don’t fit you can be uncomfortable and unflattering).
The fact that people got mad at Wendy for being “too skinny”, even though they were the same ones who constantly fat shamed her for years, really pissed me off. She, and all the idols featured in this video, is a human being, not a fucking plastic doll made to be perfect. She literally tortured herself to try to please those disgusting people, by doing exactly what they wanted her to do. Lose weight. And all she got from it was more criticism. It really angers me how many stuck up people in act as if idols owe them (as consumers) perfect, flawless appearances, even though they do nothing but judge and criticize them. It’s things like this that really make me hate humanity.
Im Korean and these are all facts. But when they're on periods they take pregnancy pills too delay the date. I heard that they're mostly on periods when they are having rests after their comebacks. But the thing is even you want to become am idol you'll probably have to go in the top 3 entertainments in Korea. The reason for this is if you become an trainee in an unknown entertainment, it will be really hard to be recognized in public even if you debut. It's really hard to pass the auditions as you heard there are thousands of people wanting to become an idol like you. So you literally have more than hundreds of competitors. You really have 1% of passing the final audition and becoming an trainee. Or else you've gotta have 80% of your talent in your body to pass through the auditions. Even if you had went through all of these, it will be 2% of you getting in the debut group between all the other trainees. Becoming an trainee in an known entertainment is very, very hard, but debuting is way harder. And yes if you quit on becoming an idol while you were on your taining days, how are you going to catch up with school and studying? Korean school is very strict, you've gotta study really hard to stay on good grades. Ok just living in Korea as a kid is just a hard job.. ㅠㅠ i dont have any energy left to explain all the studying and life of being a student in korea. 😅 if your wondering how it is find my long comment in BTS N.O mv.
Omg yes. I am not from South Korea. But, when I researched about kpop and stuff I did read this info. And, also read that there are many fake companies too and few are so dangerous that they will lure young people into their companies, promising them good future then selling them off for prostitution. (If you remember those Russian girls case that went viral). Foreign idols recieve less salary compared to the Korean members. Just because they aren't korean. Also, if anyone joins a small company there will be budget and financial issues which eventually leads to disbanded groups. So many dreams crushed before beginning, many of them crushed during achieving them and many crushed after knowing the harsh reality. ☹
people bringing male idols up again... ofc its hard for them too but this video is about FEMALE idols who have it even more harder. just like in real life. woman do had it/have it harder. it wont hurt you to stop talking about your faves for a minute and acknowledge the hardworking woman in the kpop industry.

A lot of the problems women idols face could be made better by a better stylist team. If they were allowed to wear pants, cover up more skin, and wear suitable shoes, then they would hopefully feel more comfortbale and maybe even be less objectified. Women don't need to look sexy in order to be appreciated. Let them wear comfy clothes and show off their talents without having to care about looking "perfect".
it's not just the stylists though, a lot of ppl get mad at stylists but most of the time their outfits have to be approved by the company. so a stylist could've many times tried to dress an idol more warmly but due to companies being strict on their groups images and standards, they most likely send the stylists back to the drawing room to fit their liking.
If they started doing that then their management would fear they were losing out to groups who wore less appropriate clothes =/ the industry needs to care more about their idol's health over money.

No offense but their stylists should try to make them look fashionable, while also covering up the skin during cold weathers. Like, get them tight thick outfits with great colors and designs, it will be a treat to the eyes, while also not letting them freeze to death. Fashion doesn't have to be painful. We literally have TONS of fashionable pieces in different materials and fittings, for these reasons. So that we can keep up the aesthetic sense WITH comfort. Not while sacrificing comfort. It's so shallow of those stylists to not acknowledge the variety of options and just keep going for revealing stuff despite the cold weather.

Fame is lowkey sad. I think that's part of why people get so invested in these groups, or specific people within them. They want to see the sacrifice pay off. The issues definitely appear worse for the female idols though. I mean TWICE alone had Mina take a break due to anxiety; and now Jeongyoung too. And Jihyo def got a lot of shit for her weight. The companies shouldn't be waiting for them to break before they consider their mental and physical health. Seems like bad strategy even if we're only talking business. People don't want to see 8 of 9 members of TWICE. They want to see ALL the members of TWICE. Not taking measures to ensure the girls aren't going insane from the workload, the general pressure an idol must feel every day, the toxic bullshit on the internet (kpop fans are...really bad. like, really really bad), etc; shouldn't be an after thought. Should be at the forefront.

@Albert YK Chen You win. Pls accept my humble apology!

THIIIS
Yess
I heard companies don't do that anymore, so probably fans is the one to blame here
People want to blame the companies but ignore that the only reason that this stuff happens is because of fan perception of idols. They have to be the perfect shape. They have to be the perfect weight. They have to look a certain way. Their performances have to be perfect. Then they wonder why idols get anxiety and mental health problems when it comes to performing and take it out on the company. Maybe look at yourselves first for the industry being the way it is.
It's not because of their fans actually. It mainly because of their agencies.

It’s sad that revealing clothes are essential in the industry. Modesty and warm clothes can be stylish too.
-
don’t know how the comment section resulted into a cultural war since this comment obviously and clearly just states that if idols or performers are cold they should be able to wear long clothes.
(Refer back to what happened to Sulli)
But then, these companies are forcing the girls to show skin all the time?

There's a few people that like chubby people. But in general a healthy looking person has a limited amount of fat. So chubby can be perceived as borderline fat/unhealthy. It's basically written in our genes to not want to like that. This is enforced by modern media to certain extremes to be sure. But fat people? Well, I wouldn't promote that. One, you're unhealthy and likely to have all sorts of complications, grievances or struggle with self image (don't think that this is external, especially for women). And a second part is how the outside world treats them. It's naieve to think people "shouldn't do this" because it is what people do and always will do. the saddest thing is that it's not just men who make female idols' lives difficult. yes, men have and continue to violate the idols' safety, privacy and boundaries, and that should be called out, but i don't think we pay nearly enough attention to how women too often are the source of other women's hardships. it's often female fans who make fatphobic comments and body shame idols and female managers have a horrible record of forcing the idols they're supposed to be looking after to starve/ over-exercise while fat-shaming them.

Exactly. You'd think a channel that profits off making kpop content would know who HyunA is lmao. I would understand a lesser known idol, but not Hyuna who's been huge in kpop for over a decade now im-
The way that female idols have to wear really short skirts doesnt sit right to me u can see theyre uncomfortable like use joy from red velvet as an example in almost every performance and im not even joking she has to wear short skirts its like the stylist hates her and seulgi on the other hand gets styled so well she outshines the other members i luv all the girls but this stylist 🙂
Not to mention Joy is the tallest from RV and always has the shortest outfits. Like why??? That must be so uncomfortable and so impractical.

Also looking sexy doesnt mean wearing as little clothes as possibly they can still be attractive will wearing more clothes especially in the cold
@@shhd2105 True.
it's not just the stylists though, a lot of ppl get mad at stylists but most of the time their outfits have to be approved by the company. so a stylist could've many times tried to dress an idol more warmly but due to companies being strict on their groups images and standards, they most likely send the stylists back to the drawing room to fit their liking.
If they started doing that then their management would fear they were losing out to groups who wore less appropriate clothes =/ the industry needs to care more about their idol's health over money.
