Mr. Martin, you have my admiration and respect for your work in publishing teaching and knowledge to Men of Good Will here in the southern hemisphere of America - Brazil. I leave you with a strong hug and may prosperity be in your steps blessing your loved ones.
I am big fan of your step by step. It really helps on my new to me 04 Jeep grand cherokee. I have not tried raising my spare tire cover/Skid yet but I am planning it for summer. Love your detailed method. Thanks
Thank you. I'm glad you liked it and found it helpful. Hopefully, as soon as I get more of my shop done. I'll be back at doing some more modifications to the jeeps and Dakota. Thank you for watching.
Do you know if these inserts are the same size for the 6 cylinder? The part numbers for the v8 and I6 transmission mounts are different but if the inserts are the same size it will still work.
Great mod. & very smart also I must say. I'll give you a thumbs up but I do not like Poly bushings on my daily. Thanks for the vid. as always SIR MARTIN.
Another amazing video. Just so happens I need to install one on my '01. I just finished putting new links in the rear upper control arms in that v shape deal with the rubber bushings in it over the rear differential. That in the front end or completely done. Plus a wheel alignment $500 worth of parts and then I took a look at the transmission mount and guess what?
@@martinbuilt thank you for the quick response I have a 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4 4.0l but I was thinking of selling it but after seeing your truck I wanna swap the engine to a 4.7 and fix it something similar like yours since am not really into offroading and it's my first car it's awesome
@@jbastidas29 yes it's been a great Jeep I've been having a lot of fun with it and there's so many more projects that I still want to do. If you do a 4.7 swap try to find yourself the HO engine. You'll also need the ECM and wiring harness.
Due to a battery acid issue, I had to replace my transmission at 20k miles. The new transmission (same year used with 14k miles) has been working great, except recently at 25k miles I hear a pop the first time I reverse. The van is still under factory powertrain warranty. A tire shop is saying my issue is transmission mounts. How is this possible at 25k miles? Is it possible to damage transmission mounts from off-roading? or maybe it was damaged from acid?
1st of all how did battery acid ever reach the transmission mount? And that noise could be a bad motor mount or transmission mount. I had to replace an upper stabilizer mount on my wife's Ford 500 after 10000 miles.
@@martinbuilt Thank You!. great question, my fault in putting in a cheap battery burned through some plastic connector on my transmission and then water got in :( IKR.. .. However I don't think related to this issue and don't even think it's transmission mounts. About a month ago I got stuck in very deep sand and getting out my front end made some nasty loud popping noises. almost exactly to what I now hear.. the popping noise i hear only once when parked for a while pulling out of my driveway and turning out, never again. It does not happen when drive around once the van his hot. Others are telling me I have a bad U-joint or a bad axel. How can diagnose and how could a Tire kingdom miss this?
Ever think about turbocharging your 4.7l i have a rear mount turbo on my 4.7l ram 1500 and sts sells one for a jeep srt8 maybe you could modify it to fit a wj
I am currently working on building a new 4.7 and I saw on a Jeep WJ Facebook page someone was selling a used Kenne Bell supercharger kit. Try to get ahold of the guy multiple times to ask him a couple questions he never responded and eventually sold to someone else. And I have pondered about the turbo as well
@@martinbuilt yea i have practically same setup 08 cams ,08 intake , ported heads and its all stock internals it made 475rwhp and mid 500wtq at 10 psi but i daily drive it at 5psi to be safe but the sts kit was simple to install took 10 hrs and they also sell a universal kit if you any good at welding you could build one for cheaper
OK thanks for the reply, But i was wrong my passengers' side Axle is making a loud clicking sound i think it needs to be replaced Does this sound right to you. Also how do i know if i have a Veri-lok rear?
Yes that sounds like the axle is going bad. Check out this web site, put in the VIN and it will give you a complete build. Chrysler Build Sheet fcacommunity.force.com/RAM/s/equipment-listing Enter the VIN as it appears, case sensitive.
I ve been following your channel, great DIY off road and fabrication. Referring to a video from a few years ago, you made a battery box that went under the back seat of your Grand Cherokee. Do you think there's room in a Cherokee Sport? To do the same?
Just finished my motor mounts, and going to do my transmission mount next... you still have that extra one? ;P Haha I'd buy it from ya! Thanks again for the videos!
Hi! Do you have any videos on transmission change on a 04 grand cherokee? My jeep isnt shifting out of 2nd gear. Please help! I just bought it and need to get it on the road. Thanks for any information.
Get a cheap code reader. Or utilize an auto parts store one. It will tell you if your solenoids are working. You will get many tips from YT. You can change any parts you need to in your driveway. You can do it! I never touched a trans before but from tips on YT and jeep forums I managed. Try. If you can't do it, you can still have it hauled to trans guy. Is your trans fluid burned black? If so, make sure the check valve has been removed from your cooler lines. (Also easy).
My transmission actually just blew i was crossing my fingers you had a transmission drop video haha . I'm not entirely sure if I can get away with not dropping my transfer case as well
Hey Martin. Hope all's well, I was watching one of your earlier videos where you swapped for a newer intake manifold on the XJ. I noticed you've got your fuel line heat wrapped quite a ways back. Curious to know if that's made any noticable difference?
Somewhat off topic: speaking of AW4 transmissions, does anyone have any idea why the automatic transmission on my '99 XJ would be working intermittently? One day, works like a champ...next day, I have to shift "semi-automatic" (1-2 > 3 > D). The "semi-auto" method works fine; kind of like standard without a manual clutch. Thanks to anyone for any ideas (FYI, it's not the solenoids or TCU).
Thank you for your videos. On your 4.7 upgrade what kind of horsepower gains have you've gotten . I have a dodge 1500 with a 4.7 and would like to do thoses same mods. Thanks Brian
I keep sayin why dont you make these custom parts? Even that valve seat tool... definitely would be a market for it. Im in a dodge Dakota club and im surprised on how many guys and girls in the club are always askin the best way to do stuff like this especially with out an aftermarket tool/part.
Yeah I'm working on that. If you noticed in the video in the background you can actually see the valve spring compressor tool and I have a box of 50 of them. Got a little bit more work to complete them and then I will put them out there for sale.
I can't say for sure if they will fit. I wouldn't be surprised the motor mount itself could be different but I would bet the insert is exactly the same.
"Hook up a friend of yours. " :: wink wink:: I could use one. Lol. With all 3 mounts now done, any further significant vibrations? When you did the motor mounts, you said there was a little, any more with the trans mount?
