Back in my photographer days, I would print portraits in greyscale and hand color them with oil pencils and Marshall's Oil Paint for myself and my clients. You should try it with one of your daughters portraits once you feel more comfortable with the art. Dick Blick carries the supplies now. You'll love it.
Also, the Polychromos are great, but when you want to bump up (IMO), you'll want to check out the "Caran D'ache Luminance Colored Pencils. I actually use them together. My favorite white pencil is still the Prismacolor.

Thats actually a fly that mimics a bee :-), its def not a bumblebee. Very good video, I am up to 15 greyscale coloring books, I'm addicted!!

If you like greyscale coloring go on pinterest. You got loads of pictures in greyscale. I did color fishes and looks great too
Be careful using Pinterest or Google Images. Many of the pictures on there have copyright issues. Any pics you colour and share on Facebook or upload to any other site - please, please give credit to the artist and also ensure the artist has given permission for their images to be used in this way, or there could be legal ramifications. Please be a responsible colorist.

Hello Vicky, I'm a little late discovering this new craze. I've been coloring for about 4 months now and just yesterday discovered this gray scale coloring. I love it! I felt the same way you mentioned about how color would go over the dark gray areas, but it goes over it just fine. I didn't know whether to keep the dark areas black or use color, but now I see how it works. It is really cool! Thanks for the video. I could really relate to everything you were saying. Have you tried printing a family photo out in grayscale and coloring that? I am trying that as well. So fun!
I have this coloring book and the Natural Wonders one you showed. I would love to see you color lots of pages in each book and PLEASE INCLUDE the brand and specific name of the colored pencils you are using. Coloring grayscale is intimidating by itself but trying to choose which colors to use is beyond stressful for me 😁 You are so brave to try this on camera. You did a beautiful job. The bra looks real!!!

They have some really cool grey scale books at dollar general. They have images of real animals etc kinda like this one. I've been wanting to try one but feel so intimidating lol I should just buy one right!? Lol
I feel the same with animals. I want them to look realistically colored... I find if I make them unreal colors its easier to get into my images and make them come alive.
I just ordered the wonderful fairy tales which is by majestic coloring on amazon.com, but not a lot of gray. great video
