Thank you for this tutorial. I just bought some cheap materials from temu as I am just starting to do watercolour painting to help with my mental health. I am a healthcare worker and ever since Covid, I felt like I never recovered not from the sickness but from what we have witnessed and experienced. It's like having trauma, burnout, and anxiety all mixed together at the same time. I can't explain it. I just started few days ago, it helped me relax, redirected my mind to focus on painting rather than my anxiety and stress. Thank you so very much for this. Looking forward for more tutorials! Lots of love! ❤
Terrific video! Your explanations as you paint are going to help me as I learn to use watercolors. The tip about the streak filling in to see if you have the right thickness for the paint was a revelation!
I am inspired by your thoughtful explanation of the process of watercolor painting. I learned so much about color and technique, abd can’t wait to get started! Thank you and you have gained another follower.
Love your painting and teaching style! This is the first time I have seen one of your tutorials and now I will be watching and attempting all of them! You make this look achievable! I'm a beginner of less than a year but landscapes are my favorites to learn. Thanks for posting!
I followed this along and I loved painting it. Thank you for sharing the reference photo. I learned how I can interpret a reference like that into a painting!
I LOVE your tutorials. You are simply an AMAZING teacher and I learn so much from your explanations and how you show things. Perhaps one of the top three teachers I have found on RUclips. Thank you for your amazing content, it is a blessing. Thank you.
I really enjoyed “ listening “ to you. You got right down to the process without a 5 min intro . I’m ADHD so I just want to dig in and you did that. Your instructions were clear and easy to follow . I actually feel like I can do this . Thank you ! I will tell my friends about this site
Tried this yesterday and will probably use it as a study to improve techniques. Lovely and very instructive. This reminds me of where I grew up around southeastern US marshland coastal islands. Thanks again….
I'm not a painter, but I can really see the value of painting the same scene a couple of times, not just for practice, but to loosen up the creative juices and openly embrace the fact that every painting is different, even using the same reference photo. In other words, not letting the painting sense your fear! Very cool tutorial. It's tempting me to give it a try, myself. I have some watercolor pencils I've never used.
Absolutely!! Practice is so important and it’s fun to see how different each painting turns out even using the same reference photo! I do hope you give it a try!
Bonjour, Astonished, passionate about drawing, then watercolor, considering myself as an eternal beginner, I followed step by step your tutorial, realizing it after, getting in the end almost the same thing, except for some details not having your experience. However, I must congratulate you for the quality of your tutorial, which ended with a subscription on my part, an exploration of your videos, generating lots of projects that I did not think I could realize. A big thank you
Thanks for a great tutorial, Hannah, the marsh turned out beautiful. I am just getting geared up to switching from acrylics to watercolours so appreciate your introduction to materials you use. Greetings from Canada
Thanks you for this tutorial, I am a consistent amateur, I like to paint as much as possible, so I love picking up New ideas, I absolutely do love your first layer, how you layed that down,it looks so pretty, I would very much like to see more videos in real time, I do prefer real time instead of tictok, keep painting, Best Wishes, Karen, a keen amateur painter.
I just found you! New hubby! I struggle with watercolor. Acrylic and pencil are.my areas. Hoping you can help. Love your work thank you so much for sharing!
I don't do tiktok, but glad I saw this here. This scene looks like a scene on Beach Road in Chincoteague, VA. I hope I can do it and add a Great Blue Heron in the water as that is the bird that I usually see there.
Kind of crazy, but I know Google spies on us... I just bought your book on Amazon! I didn't know who you were. So I came over here and saw this painting and thought, God, how beautifully tranquil! Then it dawned on me, I think I just bought her book! Glad I ran into you!😂
Thanks! The reference is definitely a photo, if you look at it on unsplash it’s from a photographer and you can see the camera information. If you’re talking about the painting in the top page of my sketchbook, that was my practice painting before filming the lesson!
Hi Hannah, I just painted this picture as the first page in my very first sketchbook and am super thrilled and proud how it turned out 😍 Your tutorials are so good and I've learned so much from you already, following you for a few weeks now on Tiktok. I also used your Artistro colors which I LOVE. I was just wondering, is the sketchbook that you used hot-pressed? The water looks so incredibly still in this painting, in mine you can see the texture of the paper quite strongly (it's cold-pressed) 😐
Thank you so much!! So glad you enjoyed the tutorial! This sketchbook is cold-pressed, but it does have a little less texture than other cold pressed paper I’ve used, and I’m finding I do get those really smooth paint applications in it! So it just depends on the paper really, and you can experiment with different types to find what you like best!
Do you have the link for the reference photo please. I looked at unsplash but could not find it. It's a great site for finding references, so many lovely photos. Thanks!
“Your painting can sense your fear” I love that!
Thank you! I learned a lot from this video, in particular, tinting colors for consistency. Your teaching is terrific!

I’m so happy that watercolor is helping you relax!! I think it can be such a helpful and healing hobby when approached in the way you are! ❤️
God bless you
That looked intimidating at first but you made it look so easy!
Thank you for the tutorial, it’s really helpful especially the colour mixing. Would like to see more landscape tutorials ❤
Thank you for breaking down this painting process
Lovely photo you chose to paint, and the way you painted the scene is very approachable. Thank you!
Terrific video! Your explanations as you paint are going to help me as I learn to use watercolors. The tip about the streak filling in to see if you have the right thickness for the paint was a revelation!
Amazing how the reflection makes the painting come alive! TFS!
I've never seen the tinting process and it's great! I always struggle with sky colors looking unnatural and this is the answer. Thank you!
I am inspired by your thoughtful explanation of the process of watercolor painting. I learned so much about color and technique, abd can’t wait to get started! Thank you and you have gained another follower.
Thank you so much! I’m happy you enjoyed the tutorial!

That’s so funny! I hope you enjoy the book!!
Great demo thanks. But what type of brush, tension etc, is the Joy brush, what alternative can we use?
The reference looks like a painting instead of a photograph. Very pretty though!
Thanks! The reference is definitely a photo, if you look at it on unsplash it’s from a photographer and you can see the camera information. If you’re talking about the painting in the top page of my sketchbook, that was my practice painting before filming the lesson!

I did your 100th episode and love the outcome, you’re an AMAZING Teacher! Where can I post my finished one for you?
Thank you so much! You can post it on Instagram and tag me! I’m @hannahhh.mp
Hi Hannah. What brand of paints do you use? They look amazing.
All my materials are always listed in the description of the video! 😊
Hi Hannah, you mentioned that you mat your work; any chance you could show us how you do this when you have the time and inclination:)
I’d be happy to make a matting video in the future! Thanks for the suggestion!!
Do you have the link for the reference photo please. I looked at unsplash but could not find it. It's a great site for finding references, so many lovely photos. Thanks!
Oh shoot good catch! I just added the link to the reference photo in the description!!
❤❤❤
❤
the same art possible digitally ?
How in the world do you keep the paper from buckling?
Having higher quality paper helps a lot, and it’ll still buckle a bit but usually flattens back out once it’s dry!
mine did not turn out like that lol
26:04 yeah, yeah it is different than yours. 😂😂😂😂. A lot different
