I really like the idea of an artist asking another artist stuff thats oriented more towards advanced painting - technique and composition, maybe some interesting small details about layering or colour mixing. I don't know if you have done it on this channel but I think it would be much more informal and useful for those who paint more seriously and already know and don't care about basic stuff like " Do you sketch compositions/thumbnails before doing a painting" or " Do you decide to paint with watercolour or oils depending on what your subject is". I think the recording would be so much more valuable!! Anyways, I love what this channel does, thank you!
Thank you very much Simy for this great interview, with such a talented artist as Nick Alm. I have learned a lot from this interview. Well done Simy thumbs up for you 👍
Great interview, I enjoyed it! His watercolor paintings are very realistic, would have been interesting if we could know some insight into his approach but some other time maybe :-( I have been studying his watercolor paintings for quite some time. Few unique aspects of his watercolor are the way he gives importance to the subtle values, texture, usage of limited colour range and colour palette that is closer to oil painting. The most unique aspect is the way he uses the texture of the paper and the colour granulation to build realistic skin texture. I haven't come across any other watercolor artist who believes the medium, pushes the limit but we don't how he does it and may probably never know!
Thanks for your feedback. I was blown away Nick said yes to the interview, and of course, I couldn't ask every question I had... :) But yes indeed, maybe another time! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
He is such a remarkable artist! Thank you so much for this interview.
You’re very welcome - I hope you enjoyed this!

"it's the result that counts" - about painting from photos or not. Nice to hear an honest artist. His results speak for themselves
Symi, your plein air painting is so good!

He maybe excellent but too egoistic ...
Ego is the precursor for excellence. How can you ever do anything great if you're not confident you can?
I thought he was thoughtful he sounds to me like a person who works many hours on his craft and it's all he knows. One day I'll be that way
@@taliaspencer9093 nah, but this doesn't implies that he is egoistic
@@lostinthefaq it implies that an egotistical nature doesn't have the negative implications people think it does
What oil do you use to clean brushes? Sorry, I didn't understand.
Could you write the color palette that he described?
