I am so grateful to have Alla prima 2 as my art school and Rosemary brushes as my tool. “Have your big goals, have big dream but never skip all the little step and keep your skill level up”. Very inspiring, thank you so much
Loved this interview! Been a big fan of Daniel's work for years and HUGE fan of Richard Shmidt and his book. Couldn't agree more with what Daniel said but I found it so reassuring to have learned that Daniel never went to art school and instead used that Alla Prima II in place of a university education, then just went after what he was driven & loved to do. Very inspired! The part when he mentioned asking newer artists what they loved as a child in that innocence without any other motives really stood out to me as well - such a great question and marker to gauge how one is spending their life. Daniel seems to live his life very true to himself, and I believe this is why he's found such success. Great stuff. Also, Rosemary & Co. brushes are my sacred tools and all I use! Keep the interviews coming!
Australia is the most impossible place to get a hold of Rosemary brushes, Richard Schmid books and most quality art products. I'd love to see Rosemary brushes and Plein aire resources and Richards incredidibly valuable books in Australia and Regional Western Australia. We pay the most for products and shipping, it's so unfair to Aussie artists. I love all these chats and artist interviews, so valuable for forever learning artists everywhere. Thank you.
The thing that really stood out to me was when y’all were talking about him winning that competition, even though he didn’t fee like he could win especially competing against some of his art heroes, but he did! And when he said to not let that intimidate you, that spoke volumes to me. Really inspired me to starting looking into what kind of art fairs and competitions I could enter. The interviews are Gold! Keep it up!
I absolutely love Daniel’s affordable art instruction. I’ve watched several of them and plan to watch even more! What a great interview. I started using eclipse combers because of him!!
Love, love this interview!!! Daniel is wonderful, I feel as if I've always known him, perhaps it's our view on brushes, LOL!!!! I think he's the male version of me, only younger. Symi you are an amazing interviewer!!!!!
The discussion about prints was pleasant to hear. By the time I find the artist and their work, the pieces are usually long gone. The improved quality of an image in a print, relative to a smaller image in a book, is usually worth the trouble.
Wow such a wonderful talk show and so honest and natural. Symi you are sooo sweet and a star and Daniel….you are super hero.
Symi, you are a incredible interviewer! Your sense of humour adds so much to these as well. Thanks for doing this, very excited to see more!
Awww thanks, Jesse! So happy to hear you enjoyed this! Watch this space I'll be bringing out Season 2 soon! :)
I loved Daniel's ideas about prioritizing building your skills and not skipping steps along the way. Great interview! Thanks!
Thank you, Bill!
I love Daniel's attitude and perspectives on being an artist
Awww thank you for your comment!

I'm glad you found this useful. Thanks for stopping by!
Truth from Daniel: "any development in skill requires going back to the basics" - time to reread Richard's Alla Prima book.
Can’t wait to watch the whole interview this afternoon!
I hope you’ll enjoy it, Ryan!
Great advice, Daniel! Thank you Symi for another wonderful interview!
