      Keep your eyes open for high performance and even exterior mod parts. Tuck them away, getting exceedingly difficult too find them. That would be extra neat for you, get a special Monte built up for your area. Not such the commonly done car, get you a few ooo's and ahh's from the ladies and at car shows. Hope one pops up for you, sad yours is on it's last miles, keep it going as much as it makes financial sense to do so. Thanks for the compliment. @@atomicorang Ah nice, got to keep em flying. 40, wow, super trooper, not much you did not know. The stories you could tell from the AF point of view. That had to be special on the 135r, was that the flying gas station or does the 'R" mean something different. At Pope you guys loaded us on 130's or the Starlifter. You men were all business when it was show time. We flew from Pope straight non-stop to Germany in the 141 and jumped in for the annual Reforger exercise. At Pope by distant hangars we could see the Specters bristling with guns siting there. Flew on a C5 from some base in Florida back down to Panama, Howard AFB, was stationed at Ft. Kobbe adjoining Howard. We would walk over to your base px and see all the AF types no bloused boots, etc and would marvel at the chow hall food you guys got compared to us. Well, God bless you, thanks for the extra hard work putting in those extended years. Never made it to the Sand box, was in 73-83. Did go to the Sinai for MFO duty, made it to Cairo etc.. Never got to trip a trigger though. About 3 weeks after we returned state side I ETS'd and I will be damn if I didnt read in the paper we hit Grenada. Called back to Bragg, no answer at the barracks, called one of my friends wives and she said they were all gone. Later spoke to them and they had a blast. Commandeering Mercedes spray painting 82 Abn on them etc.. Now years later maybe I did not miss much, having to be that guy in the frenzy. But then I still have my fully packed ruck etc. I dont think I can pick it up now, what a wimp. What a pain in the butt, had to pull in a few favor cards to even get them done, no one wanted to attempt a project like this. @BADMONTESS  2 года назад

      @@d.l.signati7412 You are keen eyed, like that you appreciated the look enough that you spent a significant amount of time to find a source for them. That validates my even building them, so thank you. I have plenty of pictures I can send you of them I their different phases of production, installation etc. Perhaps you can find a shop to hook you up. I went to a junk yard, removed a back window and took it to the fabricator. With my car on level ground, he measured the glasses correct angle and then was able to recreate the angle for the mock up glass for the build phase. This helped in that the louvers slats are actually laid out with the ability to see through them with the rear view mirror. And the ends being able to be angled to follow the contour of the glass. Uh oh, you have your 04 SS in the shop, you going to be having any really special work done to it? Love seeing people still having an interest in these special cars. Might be able to help with some questions for odd work or thoughts, sources etc. Keep me posted if you want photos. I have sent them to other people who for one reason or the other never moved forward with them. Think for some reason it is a large challenge for most fabricators to take on. Think when the dust settled I was about $3300 into these, but I really wanted them to add to the Montes curb appeal.

    • @BADMONTESS
      @BADMONTESS  3 месяца назад

      Hi, thanks for the interest, cool you are going to modify your Monte. The place that made the functional Ram Air hood is out of business, the owner died a few years back. Someone bought the rights to all the hood designs and they never really did much with it. So there seem to be none on the market. below is a link to the next best thing. If one has enough drive, fabrication skills or money or even a body shop friend, bet they could make it fully functional.
      Nope, no straight pipe, still have a functional cat converter too. It does have an exhaust cutout, but still sounds great closed
      The mods to this car are endless. Essentially full BMR suspension, boosted fully built motor, 568whp., bored .10 over, Borg Warner turbocharger, custom grind COMP cam, ceramic coated Diamond pistons , all internal bearings CALICO coated, Crank Cryo treated for extra strength, Lifters, springs etc. custom worked heads, custom built Cartuning manifolds, crossover pipes, down pipe, QTP exhaust cut out, Magna Flow high flow cat converter, Magna Flow mufflers, custom 3" exhaust pipes from down pipe back to mufflers, then 4" tips (the pipe size really helps with the sound too). Twin in tank Cadillac CTSV fuel pumps, all new stainless fuel lines, Custom 1 off HD 4t65E tranny, GMPP limited slip differential, Custom built Florida axle shafts, Hughes billet 4000 stall torque converter, ATI Engine dampner, 80lb Siemens injectors, ZZP billet fuel rails, Electric water pump, 2003 Chevy Impala HD Police Interceptor radiator, Intercooled, Holley Water Methanol, Holley Dominator engine management, MSD Launch controller, Auxillary Brake booster pump (to hold car still while reving up to launch), KYB AGX Struts, Eibach lowering springs, Brake upgrade (2002 Camaro front dual piston calipers), cold air intake in fender well, Custom back window louvers, I'm forgetting somethings, but this gets us in the ball park, you can see interior etc. tried listing the performance mods. Had to do a bit of head scracthing, remember the mods done over 16 years. I actually bought this car new, Feb 2002, right off the showroom floor, Had to move cars, open big doors to get it out for the test drive.
      Anyway, again, thanks for the interest, and best of luck with whatever modes you choose, these cars have potential to be a middle weight contender. And if nothing else, they are diferent than most of the other cars rolling around, so thats a plus. The Monte now just lives under a car cover, under the carport. Took it out once this summer / fall. Kind of sad really, it rolls hard. Drove it from Utah to Pennsylvania, to Colorado, Arizona, Calif. Feels like a factory turnkey ride, sounds, handles different, but totally dependable. Best wishes to you Monte man!!

    • @BADMONTESS
      @BADMONTESS  3 года назад

      Thank you, worked hard to make it different.
      The backseat delete was pretty straight forward. Just had to have a concept to make it look kind of trick. Bought the polished diamond plate. With a grinder cut it to fit snug enough yet remain easy to remove. Under the diamond plate are large cavities exposed when seats were removed. Here is where the speaker crossovers and a couple other electronic gadgets are concealed beneath the diamond plate. Then took 1'8" steel plate to create a firewall between the passenger compartment and the trunk. The track officials would not let me pass the TECH inspection because of the water methanol container in the trunk. After that a piece of particle board some cheap carpet, glue etc. and I'm happy with how it turned out as a stereo display for amps, ported bass speaker etc.
      Sadly, the Monte just sits now a days under a car cover under a carport. Think I put about 200 miles on it this past summer / fall, just too busy working. Did not do even 1 car show, took it to the track once, parked it.
      What about your Monte, how long you had it, what year? You trying to do any power adders? How did you end up with a Monte anyway?

    Who are the louvers on the rear window made by ? Where did you find them ? I want some to put on my '02 Dale Earnhardt Edition.

    • @BADMONTESS
      @BADMONTESS  4 месяца назад

      Hey, you have a keen eye, appreciate the question. Sadly the louvers were never commercially available, so with that they had to be custom built. Had different trades involved, welder to fabricate, body shop to finish. It took a lot of searching to get someone to step up and do these. Went to the junkyard, removed the rear window from a Monte. The welder made a rest for the junk yard window, arranged it to mimic the same angle of the installed glass, so you can see through the slats with rear view mirror (used my Monte with angle gauge ) then he took it from there and fabbed them accordingly. If you are thinking of having some built, I have pictures of them raw, unfinished you could show to a welder as to what you are needing done. Think by the time the dust settled about $2300, yikes... Its super you have a DE Edition, pretty rare version, keep it squared away, these are getting rarer by the day, congrats.

    • @SamMcDowell-e9w
      @SamMcDowell-e9w 4 месяца назад +1

      Well, then that got me to thinking, one of two, or three possibilities: 1.) I could adapt louvers from another car with a similar profile, not easy, as the W chassis Monte has a fairly unique rear window. 2.) I 3D print my own parts from black resin, then hand-buff it to a satin finish. Or lastly, 3.) I know a guy that works in a local custom body shop in my area that just got an autoclave last year, and we can make it out of carbon fiber, no gloss gel coat, just finish it with a matte sealant.

    • @BADMONTESS
      @BADMONTESS  4 месяца назад

      @@SamMcDowell-e9w Like your ambitious attitude, pretty creative thinking, 3D print one up, satin finish on a black car, sinister effect, so many possibilities, add a red edge, red bowtie. Autoclaved carbon fiber, that would be insane. Tweak an existing similiar unit, that would be an interesting search, never thought of that. This is why its cool to talk with others, you just never know what their thought process will conjour up. I went the metal route, that was the only thought I had. You may open up new angles for other people to acquire louvers. You have to keep me updated on how this all washes out, you come across as a doer, so lets get a popping. Look at the center of the bottom louver slat. Had a laser shop cut out the bowtie, added a splash of red for effect, details matter. Take care bud...

Unfortunate news is they were built by people I approached here in Utah. Always wanted to make more and sell them but the numbers tend to scare people off. I'm into these for $2300. Additional were going to be $1200 unassembled, then a welder had to be brought in to assemble, then a body shop to properly paint. After that a shop to set up a method to mount to the glass. Quite the process, almost never got it finished, barely got it started. But they really giv ethe Monte a darker appearance, sinister etc. Thanks for asking bud. You have a tube channel for your car?

      Sweet extra low mile Monte you have for yourself, great snag. These are actually very nice cars, corner well, engines last forever. I think they look great as well. This was the 1st production car designed for racing in a wind tunnel. Chevy could not use it for NASCAR the 1st year as Ford and the others now needed time to build a competitive car. There are turbo kits made for these Montes. I like the ones from CARTUNING, they are out of Canada. Link: www.cartuning.ca/special/
      Then there is ZZP Performance who have quite a few aftermarket upgrades for you. This company is more widely used than others. I have bought quite a bit of their products myself. zzperformance.com/collections/3800
      Warning, it is wise to avoid getting infected by the modification bug. It will lead you down a path of never ending spending, lol, one always tries to make their Monte better and better and better yet. Our transmissions are not robust enough to handle hard launches from a dead stop. You are safer doing it from the roll about 40 mph and then laying into it. Well take care, thank you for the comments. Be safe and don't go broke. But these are fun cars, you will never be that car as there are always those cars that show up and steal your thunder. So get used to not being top dig, but you will be a contender in some circles. I mean we can all go out and buy GT-500's, HEMI's etc. they are a dime a dozen. Our Montes are special in that they are not built so often and thus have a special place in the herd on Friday and Saturday nights.

    What front bumper is that I like the grill and I've been looking for one haven't been able to find the right one

    • @BADMONTESS
      @BADMONTESS  2 года назад

      Hey hi, so the grille is the add on feature. Other than that it is the standard SS front bumper. The grille came on the Tony Stewart edition from the factory. Then SLP made them for a few years. They have been out of production for probably 10 years, extremely rare to find one for sale.
      Here is a link for a guy on eBay selling similiar ones he made up. They are okay, going to be sometime prepping them for paint etc. The screen mesh is added to the back, perimeter is a bit wide. His attraction is the price
      www.ebay.com/itm/265782557369?hash=item3de1dffab9:g:j10AAOSwX7FibvYM&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAAsGGmzvV2vkjmm1EbRlAuR2BhO%2Fa2DD52Qoti56zKdzLcw3zTPzibmzuRWGXG9hWlVYTNAo64856pzGCuptMoAs2cQISCGR3MbrwjmSSX7dWAN25Y0rc%2Bdru1Hd8HNI75vUAmm2QBRRjtzCryse545jL3CFQTawIsXAbA%2B5DfitkJZ0JmNhGsFXiD7ataKdlBBlBdKO6wjExPOo6T1hkqOgZCeTBVQFSosfk8Qw50lw4g%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR9q1n9u5YQ
      I on the other hand have 2 of the 3 new SLP grilles that I know about in the U.S.. I would sell one, want to keep the other should my car ever have a front end collision type thing. But my price is significantly more than his. I'm wanting $500 for a new SLP grille. The other one is in Vegas and he is not selling as he has never mounted it on his Monte and intends to do so. Buit I just scooped them up way back when. You could make me an offer, if its not to far off base I would consider it.

So pulled it out and put it into the game. This is the original factory number matching block in the car now. Bored .10 over and as you can see built. But that build failed within 1500 miles. So went back to my original block and built it up. It has been in the car now for 11 years built like it is. We did it right the second time. 1st one was built in Las Vegas and the shop there just did not pay attention to the details and the motor popped under load on the freeway. Huge puff of white smoke and oil leaking everywhere, LOL, must have been quite the sight to people behind me.

Next buy EBC "Yellow Stuff" brake pads for the Camaro calipers on the front and then EBC Yellow Stuff brake pads for the rear Monte Carlo calipers. Then buy rotors on eBay: [2 FRONT + 2 REAR] 4 Platinum Hart *DRILLED & SLOTTED* Disc Brake Rotors - 1386. You will have to clean and paint your calipers with the Red Caliper paint at Auto Zone etc. Also upgraded brake lines with: "buybrakes.com/2002-chevrolet-monte-carlo/brake-lines/goodridge-g-stop-brake-line-kit) Then drained all fluid and replaced with the MOTUL 5.1 non-silicone brake fluid.
      Hope that helps out, The Yellow Stuff shed an enormous amount of brake dust all over ytour wheels. But the trade off is "Car and Track" magazine gave them top ratings over all other pads for non-fading dependable braking pereformance. I take my car on a road course and dont like to have brake pads fade from over heating and cheap low boiling point fluid. Rather clean dust away then wreck the car. What are you running? • @BADMONTESS

      Hi, here are a few things done to the engine and transmission. The list could go on as so much has been done but here are some basics. The 1st engine build did fail within 1500 miles. The shop I had build it in Las Vegas failed to properly assemble the engine. Opened it up on the freeway one afternoon, boom, huge puff of smoke and no power. Blew the heads apart, push rods failed etc. So I found a shop in Sandy, Utah who builds and races their own dragster, Pro-mod cars. I took my original factory engine up to them (the other that failed I bought from Intense Racing". that is a story for another day, grrr. So for this build I had all the main and rod bearings "Calico coated". Racing is the proving ground for all of our coatings. Under the extreme conditions of high speed and engine wear, Calico gives race teams a critical edge. The new virgin 3800 GTP crankshaft was "Cryo-treated" for up to 20% more strength. Connecting rods are custom billeted by Pauter,

      I've been working with these 3.8 for over four years now. Its what was in my first car and Ive stuck with them because they work and theyre a good engine to learn with. I made the decision to leave mine stock (except for the plastic intake) for practicality but I love to see other guys preformance builds too. I recently got a park av with 91000 miles for $500 with a blown engine. Its the first engine swap ive done completely by myself and by the time i had it on the road I only had $1600 into it including the fluids and tag.

      Hey hi. So what you are looking at is a now very RARE after market SLP grille. it is held on with double stick tape over the original Monte grille vents. There is an area on the grille to mount the SS or Chevy Bowtie emblem. It has been out of production for years and are now very much sought after. The Tony Stewart Monte Carlo came from the factory with this grille cover. So if you are ever scavenging through auto junk yards and see a Tony Stewart Monte remove the grille if it still has it. They go for over $300 in todays market.

      Hey bud, turbo is the way to go for the big power on the top end. My system was done by me. Go to ZZPERFORMANCE.COM they have turbo kits there for the 3.8 engine used in the Monte Carlos. If you have the 3.4 engine you are out of luck trying to turbo it. Another site is CARTUNING.CA They are out of Canada and build a great turbo system too. I prefer theirs personally. Mine is from neither as it is a custom system. ZZP and CARTUNING sell bolt on kits ready to use out of the box. Go to MONTE CARLO FORUM.COM and look over the site. Its not very active anymore, but loads of information about our cars there. Use the search bar with key words, great info. They specialize pretty much in our 6th Gen. Monte Carlos. Keep me posted on your actions. Thanks for looking at my car. Take care

    • @BADMONTESS
      @BADMONTESS  4 года назад

      @@scottyevans7304 Hi Scotty. Side window louvers on the side windows would look pretty trick. There are a few styles the mustangs have, it will take the right one to pull it off and turn a few heads. Would be something I would love to see. My back window louvers took me going around beating on doors and playing a couple friend cards. It took 3 shops to manufacture and complete the install. After it was installed I took the car to a different shop, showed them the finished product as a template in hopes they could mass produce these for me. They do laser cutting, metal bending etc. But they do not weld, so they would make me the parts. But I still needed to take them to a welder to assemble the louver. Then again to a body shop to ready them for paint, paint them and then mount them on the car. So essentially this project came to a stop as I was right back in the same place as I started. The louver you see on the car, by the time it was all said and done is close to $2200, fabricated, painted and mounted. It is 100% aluminum. Chevy bowtie emblem was cut into the bottom slat by the laser shop, which is one reason I tried to get them involved for the mass production phase. Just was not meant to be. I could send you pictures of them in the raw state from the welder before the body shop got them. This may be something you could take around and try to have them built from the photos. I went to a junk yard and pulled a rear window from a Monte. Took it and my car to the master welders shop. He insured the car was on level ground and then determined the angle the rear glass was installed. Then he fabricated a stand for the junk yard glass insuring the same angle was honored. And it was from this he built the louvers. This insured the slats were cut and assembled to allow visibility out the window with rear view mirror etc. So it was a bit of an operation to bend them with the curvature of the glass, weld all together. Next off to my builder who devised a way to attach the louver to the rear glass. From there to the body shop to do their magic, get rid off all weld, grind marks, paint, clear coat. Then back to the builder to attach it top the glass. Which is fabricated metal brackets incorporating threaded sleeves attached to the glass. He used a product by 3M called "Window Weld" to attach the brackets to the glass. The louver is then laid over the (4) brackets with louver screw holes aligned with brackets threaded sleeve and then secured with flush mount allen head fasteners to the brackets. I can easily remove the louver in 5 minutes to clean the glass. This all took a bit of team work, hence the price tag, everyone needed paid for doing their share of the puzzle. Your thoughts?

      @@scottyevans7304 Hi Scotty, thought I replied to your comment, I wrote out this long response and now do not see it. But in short The places that did them for me is the key to the build. Took 3 different shops working their magic to build these. I will go into more detail on a later reply. I was going to copy and paste my reply to your to answer another mans question and there was nothing to copy. So when I get a few minutes I will reconstruct a reply. The big answer you are looking for is "no". They are not connected to each other I had to take pieces around to each shop for them to do their phase. Will detail a more thorough answer and give you an idea of what it would take you to get them built in your area. Side window scoops or louvers would look really trick. There would be no other Monte running that mod. take care I will be back in touch.

      @@iperez8743 Smart man, that kind of thinking will pay off getting you down the road of success. Business 1st, playing 2nd. I do believe the Chevrolet Monte Carlo was the most winning NASCAR. Snippet I found, did not dig to deep, but it may still hold true. The 2000 Monte was the first NASCAR developed in a wind tunnel and then Chevrolet with this extremely aerodynamic car was not permitted to race it that year as it was considered unfair, the other teams had nothing like it. But our 6th gen model went on to be quite the champion. You do have a unique car for yourself. It screams NASCAR...
      Little news articles: This means that any new car cannot be too much stronger than what it will be racing against. There are those that think the new Monte was way too good, thus the holdup in its release date. That same train of thought would also explain why the Taurus got more than the original facelift for 2000. And while that may indeed be just speculation, the bottom line is that there's finally a new Monte Carlo for Chevy fans to feel good about.
      The 2000 Chevy Monte Carlo, held up by NASCAR for an initial release in 1999, is finally on the track, and hopefully by the time you read this, back to winning. The car was originally slated to hit the track as early as May of last season, but NASCAR decided to hold it up until the start of this season.
      One of the flaps during the 1999 NASCAR Winston Cup racing season was that Chevrolet produced this all-new Monte Carlo SS well in time for the season, but wasn’t allowed to race it. After close inspection, race officials told Chevrolet that the car could not be raced until the beginning of the 2000 Winston Cup season in February at Daytona. The reason? It may have been because this car is so good in the wind tunnel that NASCAR had to re-think its rules package.
