@ BW, Stepped away is exactly what I meant! Unless he passed away, was taken away at gun point or was beamed up by a UFO, he left by choice. A man can't be taken away unless he chooses go.

His LP's like Memphis Unlimited, A Nickel and a Nail and a bunch of fantastic singles. 1978's The Bottom Line which was recorded after his release from prison was pure smokey soul while the rest of the R n B world was riding the Disco train. Songs like Are You Going Where I'm Coming From, I'd Rather Be Blind.., The Only Thing That Saved Me, I Don't Know Why, Nickel and a Nail, Love the Way You Love, This Hurt is Real... A beautiful artist who thanks to people like you guys means he might be better known.

It might but unfortunately O.V Wright had a serious heroin addiction and did time in jail. He was a magnificent artist but died too young.
Maybe he was in the service.
