yep, Shop Dad is definitely the guy to drive this old Chevy ! cheers from Australia :) And love the old school music while Doug is driving Erick...lol :)
tertessa that's what I wrote awhile back they have fun but everyone stays buessy working that's what I notice when Eric is filming and walks up on someone without them knowing they are working that makes a successful shop.
Thanks for the tip working with fibreglass on the Vett I'm not going to work with fiberglass any time soon wish I had RUclips back when I started body work in my eary twenties or right out of high school. Then learn tricks along the way, but sanding and blocking there is no trick and no way around it just lots and lots of hard work the more you do the better it looks when the paint lays on the body, that's the first thing everyone sees then under the hood.
1969. It was a black 4-door Two-Ten my father bought new in Prescott AR. I learned to drive a standard transmission in it. You never see ‘53s or ‘54s at Mecum or Barret-Jackson events. My grandfather had a black ‘48 (the year I was born). Got to drive it also.
YES a 210 - I had one sold in 1975, BUT I am going to pick up another just like this one. ALL BLACK / the one I sold was Black / White. Both are inline 6 with standard. My first was converted to 3 on floor / I will miss that, but on the tree is ok too. 54'S can't beat them for looks.
The birdcage got its name from the iron workers who made it back in the day. When you work with fiberglass make sure you take a cold shower afterwords. Hot showers open up your pores and make you itch a lot more. I hope that helps I learned that the hard way.
my first car,it ran well, got around 18 mpg average,i loved the six,the trans went out twice, only second gear, just breathe on it wrong,i hated it so much I became a transmission man over it,i could rebuild them in my sleep, good car
3 on da tree, I love that, my 66 Ford truck had it, once I rebuilt the column it was fun, no binding or twisting ,😑good gravy I was stupid for selling that thing. I ain't sayin shit about the last section
Anybody know how to get hold of Keenan, or know where he works, for a similar type repair on a '63 SWC? Or could suggest someone with that hands on repair patch vs a complete birdcage repair? Thanks in advance!
bernie mc I think it will be shown later, I was thinking the same thing and I wanted to see the small ice cream taco panel truck done? I like that little box van. That's what's in right now are box vans or anything that is unusual diffrent in California someone is always trying to set the trend.
Ken Mason I'll see if there is anything going on when I get back. There's so much going on and not enough time for me to cover it all but I think that would be good!
Any advice or can you guys make a video on how to fix oil canning metal. My roof on my f100 has it and I’ve heard different ways of fixing it. What’s the best way?
FYI to Keenan: I've worked with a fiberglass chop gun. Best way of not itching all night is to go stand in the bathroom full of steam to open your pores and immediately rinse off in a COLD shower. No more fiberglass itching!
Daniel Scott that's what I said. I use to work remodeling homes for a living and every now and then doing insullation or other misc I'd come in contact with it.
Daniel Scott thanks for the tip I used to get that fiberglass and wrap the same stuff the used to reinforce the bay bridge and most of the double decker parking lots in San Francisco my brother in law used to work for a company that invented the fiberwrap and he gave me bags full of the powder 5 gallon buckets of the resin and rolls of the fiberwrap it was almost like Kevlar bullet proof I shot at it with a 9 mm at the bullets didn't go through it. The only thing is I didn't like to sand it when I used it on a few things I'm a welder so I like to work with steel sheet metal not fiberglass that my brother in law wanted on his 1958 Chevrolet wagon look like the impala wagon body he wanted to use it for the rust holes in it, I have to say when I put the raisin on the metal without the fiberglass or wrap it looked wet and stayed that way for years I put some on the floor of my 1972 GMC SUBURBAN to see what or how long it would stay that way. If someone was trying to make a Carson top hard top convertible that stuff would have been perfect it was light weight and strong
Unless you are good at double-clutching, you have to come to a dead stop before shifting into 1st, or else it will gronch, as 1st is a sliding gear, not synchronized.
lilorbie lilorbie it actually belongs to a friend of mine named Wes Coleman, he is the guy who makes signs and stickers for KC and also has a super sick Cadillac CTSV wagon he drag races. Anyways I don't know the entire history I just know that him and Tanner (the guy who pinstripes who is also Wes best friend) chopped it years ago and had it slammed on bags but they were young and did it in a garage with the knowledge they had so now Wes is having it built to professional standards. Still gonna stay bagged I believe.
Erick Barrandey that,s cool. way back in 1973 i had a chance to buy a og. 1949 Ford shoebox. the price was only $25.00. the problem was . the car was in Arkansas and i lived in California. and i did not have any place to store it. i saw it again in the summer of 1988. the price had gone up to $300.00. there was a lean on the title, and the state said that they could not give me a title for it. the car was just about rust free.
lilorbie lilorbie man what a deal. Speaking of California KC and myself are flying into Orange County tomorrow for the next 2 days to film some videos!
Erick Barrandey talk about a small world. i was born and raised in Orange County ,CA. spent the first 29 years of my life "growing" up there. i spent a lot of my time cruising up and down P.CH. in my first car. a 1965 Chevy Chevelle Malibu SS. i was the first one in the group friends that i hung out with to get my driver,s lic. we all thought we were so cool, sadly that was not the case. and i just found out about a week ago, that one of that group has passed away.
We had 53 read Belair this one is not a Belair it was weet car I was 14 at the time 235 6 power glide it was black gary interior I had already bought it from my father it was mine they let my sister drive it yes she wrecked it my father never returned my money so I started safing again at 16 I bought a 57 ford fairlane 500 keep that car for 22 years then got dumb and sold it!
I'm not sure what there is to explain about a motor being somewhat taken apart. Doug explains afterwards that it was being broke down to be sent over to the engine builders shop. That's about all the info I got out of it myself.
"Anchors aweigh" while Doug takes the 54 out for a short cruise. Nice lol
Doppleganger t
Thought Shop Dad was going to fall out of the car. Thanks for the updates and post.
yep, Shop Dad is definitely the guy to drive this old Chevy ! cheers from Australia :) And love the old school music while Doug is driving Erick...lol :)

Shopdad has some good one liners 😁😁😁 nice to see you guys having fun..
tertessa that's what I wrote awhile back they have fun but everyone stays buessy working that's what I notice when Eric is filming and walks up on someone without them knowing they are working that makes a successful shop.
that '54 is my dream daily driver. I wouldnt change a thing!!!!
Doug your probably the only one in the shop that knows how to drive a column shift lol
I remember working on these 1950s cars with my dad. Easy Peasy, 👍😉
Thanks for the tip working with fibreglass on the Vett I'm not going to work with fiberglass any time soon wish I had RUclips back when I started body work in my eary twenties or right out of high school. Drove a 52 Pontiac Chieftain about twenty five years ago. Flathead straight eight and turbo hydramatic.
My first car and I also learned how to drive in that same 54.
I thought we were going to get old timey shopdad donuts! Haha
Funny vid. 54 looks good going down the road

Make a good turkey call , nice CHEVY , great background music can't beat American made ( Doug in GA) 🇺🇸
Great stuff Eric keep the content coming
Hamish Ortonville thanks! Will do.
I got a good laugh outta this one. Thanks guys i needed it 🤣
Not to be picky, but that 54 is a 210, not a Belair.

I hope to be restoring cars when I'm old and in my 70s
Oh man, my first car was a 2 dr BelAir, straight six, three on the tree. Bought it from Michigan Bell Telephone for $50 in 1964 age 13. No rust.
This is a 210, not a Bel Air. The Bel Air was top-of-the-line. This car is the mid-range series.
Don't fall out that door shop dad!
Awesome Doug! Keenan that was just creepy. And we had a Austin shot. HEY ERIC
Frank M HEY FRANK!
Hey Eric..... Saw the Z and thanks Keenan & Doug
Dwreck Baker the Z has its front end back together. This weekend I should have it back on all 4s.
Drove mine in the last few weeks........
I like it that was my mother first car 53 -54 it was blue she was the one that had a car out of all hers friend's so she was the driver
my first car,it ran well, got around 18 mpg average,i loved the six,the trans went out twice, only second gear, just breathe on it wrong,i hated it so much I became a transmission man over it,i could rebuild them in my sleep, good car

That 54 sure is sweet! Has KC lost the bad habit bet yet? Hehe
Rudderify YES he's back on the NOS!
Nice 54 I have a 51 2 door Chevy hard top I'm trying to get going 😬
Keenan is hilarious
Keenan looks like nick cage from Raising Arizona hahaha.
Had same car in 1970's. mint condition. paid 500 for it. Had the comfortable mohair seats.
“Squirt in the throat”...hilarious!!!!!
what would you charge in the states to fully sandblast a car and primer it
Anybody know how to get hold of Keenan, or know where he works, for a similar type repair on a '63 SWC? Or could suggest someone with that hands on repair patch vs a complete birdcage repair?
Thanks in advance!
Did I miss something? what happened to the property that KC showed on an earlier video that was going to be the new shop location
bernie mc I think it will be shown later, I was thinking the same thing and I wanted to see the small ice cream taco panel truck done? I like that little box van. That's what's in right now are box vans or anything that is unusual diffrent in California someone is always trying to set the trend.
bernie mc e
I may have had a little too much tequila before watching this video and busted my gut laughing.
USN_Ret 84-05 Haha good to hear!
ahh yes the old baby powder and pantyhose fiberglass trick...gone awry! lol
Can you do a fiberglass repair video showing some of the work on the Vette?
Ken Mason I'll see if there is anything going on when I get back. There's so much going on and not enough time for me to cover it all but I think that would be good!
Any advice or can you guys make a video on how to fix oil canning metal. My roof on my f100 has it and I’ve heard different ways of fixing it. What’s the best way?
Js S Good question. We've had a few come through that have had that issue. I'll be sure to ask.
Erick Barrandey thank you sir! Any advice will be appreciated

Hows the ranch coming along?
Unless you are good at double-clutching, you have to come to a dead stop before shifting into 1st, or else it will gronch, as 1st is a sliding gear, not synchronized.

WhenI here birdcage for a frame, i think of the tubular frame of a birdcage Maserati
Is the '54 for sale or are yall rebuilding it?
Tim Brown it's a clients future build in line with the rest!
I think we’re due another vid, ain’t we?
Who tore the international up???
Wayne Brogdon Zach is adding upgrades per owner request.

hey Erick what,s the story on the shoebox on the lift behind the vette.?
lilorbie lilorbie it actually belongs to a friend of mine named Wes Coleman, he is the guy who makes signs and stickers for KC and also has a super sick Cadillac CTSV wagon he drag races. Little grease on that clutch pedal lol.
So now there is creepier than Garrett. Thanks Keenan. Well, not really thanks. Congrats?
Belair for sale?
That's a 210. The cheap trim and hubcaps gives it away
That only works if you dont wear a shirt with your name on the pocket, just saying Keenan
Tony Finck HAHAHA
I'll buy it. Name your price and tell me where to come get it.
Last time? Mom drove one in 1961 so I saying 1961.
Hasn't run for years. No lube in any bearings etc. Cold start. Ancient probably worn out engine. LETS REV THE CRAP OUT OF IT STRAIGHT AWAY!!!!
John is correct. It's a 210. Not a 150 nor a Belair
Tupperware tudoor
Doppleganger Code
It looks like a Chevy 210 to me.
so whats the deal r u making a tv show or what
lucky nice car but you get to work with your dad
I said I'll buy it and I meant it. Next time put some clean gas in it.
LOL, SHOPDAD, NOT THE SMARTEST ONE OF THE CREW, START WITH HIS MATH,,
This is not a BelAir, it is a 210.
That's no Bel Air....it's a 210.
Your fast forward stuff on video is boring and a waist of time. because your not explaining anything!
I'm not sure what there is to explain about a motor being somewhat taken apart. Doug explains afterwards that it was being broke down to be sent over to the engine builders shop. That's about all the info I got out of it myself.
