I watch this video over and over again and learn so much. I began my watercolor journey with Emma appreciating her budget/family friendly videos. I'm not a creative person, however, I find watercolors so pretty and relaxing. I admire your styles, this video helping me appreciate Jillian's conversations better. I have the tendency to "watch and paint," now I know I must listen to make improvements. I want to play with the pretty colors, but I must learn how to make the pretty colors look like something. Please do another video together soon. Jillian your family is beautiful.
I truly enjoyed listening to you and Emma's conversation as you painted. I think it's important to know, we don't need to get locked into a specific style, exploration is the greatest gift to every artist! Thank you for sharing this on RUclips!
This is so inspiring and relaxing to watch as well as refreshing to hear the reality’s of being a content creator. Definitely a reminder to everyone, no matter what job/ hobby they do; stay true to yourself, do what lights you up, do what sparks joy in your creativity and keep doing that, your energy and enthusiasm will attract the viewers that are meant to see and follow you!
I just found this today, Feb. 10. I’m always impressed with both of your instincts with regards to details, and how objects move. (Particularly with florals) My question to you is ‘Were both of you kids whose art at school looked fantastic?’ I’m a non-artist type that can follow instructions, the process really, but I have no natural instinct. I’m curious if at 58 I can develop art instinct, or if instruction based art will always be my MO.
Yes!! You absolutely can learn! I never took an art class, my son would laugh at my pictures when we drew together (in a nice way lol) I mean, I was god awful. I still cannot draw a straight line to save my life BUT I can finally paint pictures of flowers I am happy and satisfied with now. Practice really does make better. I have only been painting a year but it has been very rewarding mentally and all I really want to say is, please try! It brought me so much joy and you never know if you will find that joy too until you try!
Art doesn't come naturally, I have aphantasia= I don't generate mental pictures. If you tell me to picture an orange the memory of an orange will come to me but I see black. Anywho, I have come to learn that mastering watercolor is all about practice and experimentation. The more you practice the more muscle memory you build up, the faster you can get into flow- state. When I first began I tried to paint until I found at least one little thing I liked, like a petal or a leaf and celebrated those small wins. If you get frustrated, walk away for 5 mins, come back and start over. Practice makes progress. Don't be afraid to make ugly art.
You two together are so amusing, fun, and definitely funny! I love this! Thank you so much. Emma has been my favorite for a while. Now I have another artist to follow, Jillian Boon. 🩷

Which brand of cobalt green did you get Jillian?
what is that bluish/lavender color that you used that you pulled from the black palette that Emma said she wantedj??
It's lavender color by Holbein
What are the bottle watercolor shades? I want to add some neon brights to my collection
Wildrose by Dr ph martin and neon shades are by kissho paints!
Who are the few people u named to watch? Watercolor artiest ??
Beautiful painting. I think the dialogue is excessive though.
Glad you enjoyed the painting. You are welcomed to mute the dialogue in future :)
Why would anyone make a negative comment? Just move on then.
