Actually a fairly accurate depiction of life as a late diagnosed autistic man. I am the Trickster jungian archetype, and clearly that man is too. First we’re in trouble for behaving atypically. Then we’re accused of faking by non autistic people after getting diagnosed or realizing we’re autistic. Then we’re mocked and treated as stupid even more overtly than before we were labeled when we fumble or experience demand avoidable. Being openly disabled and masking less leads to further overt hostility as the price of not masking our differences is hatred from the ignorant who made us learn to mask for them in the first place. And then we’re told our differences make us hopeless, and undesirable, un empathetic, over emotional, selfish, for our entire lives. We lose friends and family and job and housing and school opportunities in learning to respect our own existences and boundaries. We’re told that other autistic people are better than us, more abled, more functional, trying to play the age old Capitalism game of making us hate our own people rather than hating the system that oppresses autistic people. Which tends to work less affectively on self aware autistic people. To be Openly Autistic, is to be hated and mocked relentlessly for the rest of our lives. But it is still better to be open, than to live as a lie. Many of us live entire decades of our lives invisibly and learn the hard way it’s better just to be hated for who we are than light ourselves on fire for others warmth forever at our own expense. Because the price of our freedom, is the loss of illusion, and the acute awareness and experience of power, control, and pain. The price of being born autistic, is that ‘The Real World’ is our own personal Hell. And we can either pick up a smiling mask and join the demons who mock us, or we can become a Tricksters and Jesters and learn to live in such a world without succumbing completely to it’s hatred and despair through embracing the liminal, paradoxical, and hypocritical game for what it is, nothing more than a thinly veiled illusion. And if life is an illusion, who better to break that illusion than those of us born not fully within it? They fear us autistics, because no matter how much money and power they have over us, our very existence and nature makes it so they cannot fully control us. This makes us incredibly and increasingly valuable in a world held together with lies, cardboard, blood, and duct tape. Which is exactly why they want us to believe we are nothing. So that even those of us capable and able to change things, are too completely traumatized and drained to do so.
I feel ya man. I was diagnosed when I was three, so the situation is different with me, but everything you said about the ignorant ass people is one hundred percent true. They laugh because they don't know what it's like, and at the end of the day I say fuck em! I'll live my life the way I please.

The ones who immediately put down autistic people for existing in public spaces either online or in person every single day. The ones who relish in mocking our special interests and making it so that even just daring to be happy as an autistic person is in and of itself cause for them to harass us. Pretty much the entire system of Capitalism responsible for ensuring our never ending suffering as disabled people and eternal codependency on Alystics tbh.
