- How-to video of me doing it real time.
McMaster part numbers I used:
5583K48 Abrasion-Resistant White ETFE Tubing, .278" ID, 3/8" OD, .048" Wall, Semi-Clear White
50915K615 Brass Sleeve for 3/8" Tube OD, Brass Compression Tube Fitting, Packs of 10
50915K245 Tube Support for 3/8" Tube OD X 1/4" Tube ID, Brass Compression Tube Fitting, Packs of 10
5583K46 Abrasion-Resistant White ETFE Tubing, .187" ID, 1/4" OD, .031" Wall, Semi-Clear White, 10' L
50915K613 Brass Sleeve for 1/4" Tube OD, Brass Compression Tube Fitting, packs of 10
50915K244 Tube Support for 1/4" Tube OD X 1/8" Tube ID, Brass Compression Tube Fitting, Packs of 10 (NOTE: This is edit 6/29/2017, the original post included the INCORRECT part number, 50915K243. I ordered 50915K244 again and verified they fit with the 1/4 tubing above).
I chose ETFE because it has excellent chemical compatibility characteristics and you can see if there is fuel or bubbles inside it.
Increase control and power? Yes! You should install a pyro and boost gage. JATonka has excellent info on how hard you can run it on his web site. I stay below ~1150°F max. I find the only time EGT's get very high is when trying to maintain freeway speeds on grades on 5th hi or perhaps in 4th hi on a very steep grade, otherwise they are fine. You should set limits and not violate them.
The spin-on filters are JATonka, nice guy:

Thanks for the part numbers! I plan to do this in the near future, and having those numbers will make it that much easier/faster
Please note I had a typo above. Also, the ETFE tubing is expensive, yet 1) has excellent chemical compatibility (I run waste oil that could be contaminated) and 2) is translucent enough to see what's in there. You can find 1 or 2 cheap, but getting both is more challenging without paying more
thank you for posting this. I could learn mechanics from you, all day long ! way better than being screamed and yelled at.
Very welcome! I'd post more if I had time. Do you have a military vehicle?
brianp454 Not at the moment , but I'm on the market to buy a bobbed 5ton, or a M932A2.
this video is great except that i have lost you on what lines your talking about, im trying to visually follow you but your camera is at a angle where i cant see the exact lines and parts your talking about
Thanks for the video. Do you have the Part #'s from McMasterCar for the lines and plugs?
Click "Show More" above
Does this have any drawbacks, e.g. lower MPG or no more ability to use non-diesel or biodiesel fuels?
No drawbacks other than you can get EGT's too high. Install a pyro. JATonka has a good explanation on his web site.
Anyone knows what are the pros and cons of bypassing the fuel compensation of that pump?
Did bypassing the FDC solve your fuel leak?
Was it leaking into the crankcase or externally?
Thx for the video
Charles Riley it foxed my fuel issue when it was bypassing into the crankcase.
I know it solved my initial start and sputter out problem and rough running the first couple minutes.
so all this dose is increase your control of the power?
It helps prevent fuel leaking into the engine oil, boosts power, improves reliability, etc. What more do you want?
Awful camera angles. Can't see what you're pointing to half the time.
