She leaned over me several times to ask questions of Cis Corman, then the film started. She's so gorgeous in person.
This is not available on DVD for a variety of reasons, first and foremost, it was produced in association with the Special Olympics chaired at the time by Eunice Kennedy Shriver so most of it is probably still 'owned' by the committe. It's a non-profit organization. Another reason is that Barbra Streisand may have special legal allowances that prohibit any public distribution without her expressed consent, but I'm not sure about that one. She has a tight grip on her recorded performances, recordings, etc. Third, it was broadcast on ABC which may also have some legal rights to it. My guess though is that the 1st reason applies, it was a benefit broadcast still owned by the Joseph P. Kennedy Foundation. Since I was lucky enough to be sitting next to Barbra, I very clearly overheard her ask (I believe it was) Cis Corman, after the concert, as the film just started, "Is someone recording the show at home?" The answer was, "Yes, we recorded it." So Barbra herself (or Marty Erlichman, manager) most likely currently has the best quality copy. Marty had a Sony reel to reel half inch video recording deck at home back in the 1970s-80s.
I just discovered Barbra in 2017. I was watching Don’t rain on my parade from an American idol performer and I just decided to look up the original singer. I haven’t looked back since lol 😂 👏🏽

great quality! I found just now the entire little concert inside an old cd rom from old things found on emule years ago. it's a poor quality video, but decent on audio...maybe can I put here on youtube?
I wish I did. I found it by typing in the song name on Facebook. There’s also other videos when she did a Hello Dolly concert in 1969, opening for Elvis. I’m trying to find more hidden gem videos that keep getting removed from RUclips to upload.
I think Mary's performance that night is the ultimate interpretation of this song. I tried to get her to do it live as part of her jazz show a few years ago. 🙂G!
