Wouldn't surprise me if they gave it to Yaroslava Mahuchikh - broke the high jump world record that had stood since 1987, reigning world champion, Diamond League champion for the 3rd consecutive year, defended her European championship, and won Olympic gold.

That would be my choice on the women's side. Other females would be Hassan based on her three-medal performance in Paris (including marathon gold) and as the video mentions Beatrice Chebet for the 5K/10K double gold. Men's side would probably be Jakob, just so many good performances across the middle distance category.

Ingebritsen's 3000 record was valued at 1320 points, and Mahuchikh's HJ record was valued at 1319. And his competitors were much closer to his level (1299 and 1295 in the same race) than her competitors were to her level. Her record may not have Beamonesque, but it was still phenomenal and historic.

have to agree to @19Kamau79 , Cole is just such a freak at finishing fast its insane. But sad to see (again) that leading takes away chances (thinking of kipchoge). Maybe putting pacers in at every race would give fair chances

    • @GardenChess

    • @19Kamau79
      @19Kamau79 24 дня назад

@GardenChess Jakob can beat (present) Kerr only in extremely fast and paced race, if going out slow there's no possibility to defeat the kickers. Jakob does 3000m and 5000m the best as he isn't speed dominant runner, therefore he didn't have the 1500m Olympic podium because field were way too talented for tactical race.

really hope this channel go to straight to the point rather than a lot of "context explanation" just to make 9 minutes plus video. if you wanna talk about jakob, talk about him, if you wanna talk about olympic record, talk about olympic records. No need to make an unnecessary explanation for the sake of longer videos

At the 5 min 50 sec mark of your video, you incorrectly posted Jakob’s time at 4:43.73. You’re a minute off.

Even though Jacob was great, Duplantis will propably win...

its impressive that he has 3 wr in 3 categories, but is 2 miles really different enough from 3km? it´s 6% more. If we use this logic we could have had Usain bold breaking 106m and 212m WR and hold 4 WR with 1300+ score, but it sounds dumb doesnt it.

    Duplantis >> Ingebrigtsen
Mondo dominates every meet he enters. Jacob has great times once in a while but often does not consistently come out on top.

But he tripped and fell in the Paris 1500m blue ribbon event? That one race was his primary target and he failed

@RUNISFAST hard to say whether hitting the wall was a matter of choice? It was the same with Bol in the 400m hurdles. Just peaked too early and ultimately burnt out

@@tonyririnui4043 well he won the 1500 last olympics, so that is olympic peak. And everyone has their days. 4th in the olympics is not even that bad.

Usain Bolt hasn't done this? 3,000 and 2 miles aren't even events you can win world or Olympic championships in. So if you're going to do that then you'd need to include the 150m as well. And when you realise bro needs to run 6 seconds faster than that to actually hit Bolts point level, you realise Bolt broke the tables😂

Correct me if I missed something, but there is nothing new in this video, right?
As for JI, he is a true great but it is becoming harder to respect him as a human given the increasing number of stupid tattoos all over him, which look like some cell mate did with a needle in prison. What exactly is he thinking?

Bolt could have done 1300+ performances in the 135m and 170m, that would be a fair equivalent to Ingebrigtsen’s non-standard event distance records

World record in an event they don't race at the Olympics or WCs is not athlete of the year worthy. His 3 consecutive 5k titles are more impressive than that.
