I record OSTs in two cases : -there is an official soundtest/jukebox (ingame or as an external program) -there are tools to extract/convert the music files from the game data files. I don't use music files found on the net. So I can't say yes or no for now.
I guess they uses 'General MIDI' settings in the game setup, so DOSBox uses the 'Microsoft Soft GS Synth'. MS Softsynth is based on the SC55 instruments set but with highly compressed samples and poorly emulated hardware effects (panning, chorus, reverb).
@@snuggie1849 The audio recording in the video you're hearing is from the physical SC-55 module itself, what you hear in the GOG/DOSbox version is basically bad quality samples of the SC-55 with flat non-dynamic instrument playback. Every copy of Windows since the mid 90s comes with a file called GM.DLS where those samples are stored, so it's the de facto default MIDI instrument set for PCs.
Thanks for the upload. As I was listening to this, noticed that parts of Dungeon4 (27:57) has similarities with Privateer's Mining Base theme (ruclips.net/video/V1S_Qn2gJSk/видео.html).
This might be a big ask, but could you please upload these somewhere as .mp3 or flac files? I'd love to be able to listen to an accurate version of the Arena soundtrack outside of RUclips! Thank you!

I read the SC55 is what Heberling used when arranging the music. Quite impressive to hear it!
This dungeon theme is a lot more pleasant on the ears than the sound blaster one.
Is that me or it sounds a bit quicker than it should be?
Do you play on a emulator? I thought the same thing, but I believe the sound card or video card was causing a slow down effect.
@@Shadowed_Echo I downloaded the game from Steam, and it used DOSBox as an emulator
@@octocat592 I've been learning to use Dosbox staging, once you learn it, I believe it's better then the original dosbox
@@octocat592 I also had memory problems with the vanilla steam dosbox version.
Thanks for recording of this OST! If you you accept some requests - can you record Might&Magic 4-5, Kyrandia 2 and Lands of Lore 1 on SC-55? :D

Still, thanks for your work (again)!

@@stripedhyenuh wow didnt know that thanks for telling me! I asked the question like 3 years ago xD
do you have mp3 downloads for these?
I feel we've lost the soul with games
Same man.
How did you extract the Midi Files from this?
a program called WinArena can do it here, the UESP has a download link for that under the Arena:Files page
