EPIC! Big Socal Bluefin tuna bite

Snuck out to chase some big blue in tuna around so cal waters. took us some time and a few baits but you can't get bit if the baits not in the water! Our efforts were rewarded with a Bluefin tapping out at about 172#. Huge thanks to Matthew the Captain of FV It Never Ends, always and amazing time!

Do you save the head when you cut em on the water? They let us go but we got destroyed by FnG a few years ago. Even after they told me what needed to be done to be legal i didn’t understand it.

We did keep the head and tail, what did they say you needed?

@@tannerchang714 that was the problem. It was a few years ago when that BS started and they didn’t even know. We had 2 whole fish in kill bags and 1 quartered with 1/2 of it in each bag with the whole fish. They kept us for over an hour while they were on the radio and phone trying to figure it out. They were asking if they should confiscate all our fish and write tickets. Then they tried to trap us for running an illegal charter (we knew each others addresses). They finally let us go because there’s no way we broke a limits law because we had 3 people and 3 tuna total with 3 licenses.
