  • Big schools of sand eels brought bluefin and yellowfin tuna to the fishing grounds south of Block Island in big numbers in the summer of 2023. On this trip, Captain Rob Taylor leads the way to a banner day of tuna fishing, targeting them with jigs, and looking for "small life" to find fish outside the fleet.

What kind of rods were those man they are impressive. I use a little larger gear with conventional reels with 40 pound line using penn reel and shimamo talevera rods which I recommend highly

That day, I lost a 400lb BFT 5 mi S of Land's End Newport. Hooked on 9 oz speed jig on 30lb mono on a 7ft HMCF spinning rod with a Penn 704. Insane! I got it below the boat to get a look about 30' down. Popped the line, but man, was it fun!
