    1.25x speed is much better

I’m going to try and combine both. I’ve created my own rigging systems in the past for better looking 2.5D head turns and then frankensteined DUIK for other parts of the body along with Ribber hose all working in tandem. This was super insightful and I appreciate it. Keep on keeping on man!

Hi, you are one of the best teachers I've seen doing tutorials and explaining the features of different tools. Very clear and right to the point! Your other video about RubberHose vs Duik is awesome as well. Thank you.

You can list the position properties so you dont have to seperate the dimensions from the bones. Using list can solve most of duiks disadvantages mentioned in this video

@@appstore1476 with the connector you can connect the keyframes from the second list to the joystick. You can shift click on the list tool icon in duik bassel to get more info

Agreed. For anyone wanting to know more I would recommend watching Dufresne's official Duik Rigging Tutorial on Tuto.

I have to say, excellent explaination but I had to reproduce the video at 1.5X speed in order because the presenter spoke too slowly, apart from that this was a top notch comparison.

Must of the things listed as issues on DUIK Bessel can be easely done by simple expressions. I know it is difficult to the most of peaple to figure out how to work with expressions and that's a point of the video. Amazing video by the way. My point is sometimes we need to do the hard work in order to get a powerfull result. Nevertheless I am really compeling to try Joystick sliders now, seems really simple to day to day work. Thanks!

When you have a shape path, you can convert every vertex into a null via a script which I think is built into AE, so each null will be able to move each vertex,so you do not need the bones feature for this. And in order to get better results, you have to remove the bezier handles and use the "RotoBezier" feature in After effects. (Right click on the verteces, and on the menu "masks and shape path" choose "RotoBezier" and I think you will get better results using this, however you have limited control of the curves as there are no handles.

Or you can just use Moho. And then import your render into AE. Rather than trying to find the perfect 2D rig solution for AE, which isn’t natively designed for full 2D animation rigging.

The problem with any outside AE solution is that they are outside AE - and reduce the ability to change on the fly when the need demands it. That's why so many of us use AE rather than a third party program. Using AE may not be optimal for every situation but it solves a ton of other problems too.

This video is AMAZING! You just resolved 99% of my workflow. Now, for starting I know I must use J&S for de face and DUIK for the Body. In the moment I feel more confortable with this process I'm gonna star with expressions system @Locky Locknburg is saying. Very good content!

First of all, thanks for this tutorial :)
Second of all, i´m having a hard time trying to make the movement with the path of layer shapes.
Can I a shape layer with different forms (normal, left, right, bottom and top) and then make the joystic?
Or this does only allow change the position, scale and rotation of a shape layer?
    Thanks in advance

Thanks for the great video, answered a ton of questions. You mentioned using both Duik and joysticks & sliders but is it possible to use both within the same comp. for instance, using joysticks and sliders for the head shape of a character and duik for the facial features?

Hi! Thank you so much for these awesome tutorials! Actually, Me too, I've downloaded Duik and installed it, but my Duik window which is showing at 0:12 on this video is slightly different. On my screen the Duik window doesn't have the auto-rig &IK, Connector, Animation blender, Add bones..and so on. I do have up to (Create structure, Links, and constraints, Create controllers) but not the below. Do you know why it happens? Thank you in advance!!
