Great question! There is a blinker kit available for them. The all weather model comes standard with the horn kit on it but is an add on available for the base model. Yes you can absolutely add a plow on them. The rear seat through Mahindra is not available yet for the new models, but there is aftermarket options for them as well as ROPS "roll over protection systems" for your passenger needs. The base model starts at $20,599 and All weather model at $28,739. However right now Mahindra is offering anywhere from $1000 to $3000 Rebate on select models "OR" Finance incentives as low as 0% for 36 months , .99% for 48, 3.99% for 60, 4.99% for 72, and 5.99% for 84 months. *{ on approved credit }*. So if you a considering purchasing one now is the time to take advantage of those great savings before they discontinue the promotions.
The older models are sought-after because they resemble more of the iconic Willy's jeep. The font end design has been changed for the new models due to a lawsuit from Jeep because of the similarities to the way Jeeps look. There are a few other changes as well, like engine, gearing, etc. At least it is what I have gathered from a lot of customers I talk with. The main reason is the looks.
The older units with the 2.5 motor are tuneable. Diesel Freaks is working on a tune for the new 2.7. Without the tune you are limited to 55 mph and the motor is underpowered in stock form. Yes it is still a drivable unit but for those who want to use them on the street they are a little underpowered

I agree, too much $ for a non road legal side by side substitute. I bought a low mileage (60k) 95’ YJ that needed some work for $6k. I put in about $5k in repairs and upgrades over the last couple years and now I have a reliable, nice looking, great performing on and off road legal rig for about half what the Mahindra costs. Yes, I know it’s not brand new, yet it serves multiple purposes.
We like ours but it lacks in speed and they need to get rid of the governor! The fastest it will go is about 56 and it’s gutless on hills and steep inclines. The computer is encrypted and needs to be able to be switched out or tuned somehow. I would love to switch to a different computer to run highway speeds of 65. Everyone flying past me gets old around here. Otherwise, we have no complaints. We installed a backseat, roll cage, and a turn signal kit. I built a custom top!! It’s awesome to drive, it just needs that tune!!!! That 4 cylinder 2.7 should be able to do so much more!!!
I have called the Mahindra customer service and I have gotten nowhere. They keep referring me to my dealer and the dealer has no information. Can you please provide me with a good contact phone number for getting my ECU reprogrammed so this unit will have more power and speed?
Within the first 3 minutes there was NO mention of price-THE most important factor to those of us who are not middle class. Right? So, research shows the basic model costs $30,000 new. Do used ones cost more than, say, $5000?
You would need to tune or flash the ECU to do it. There is some mention in forums about a bypass plug for speedometer, but it disables your speedometer completely, so I would not recommend this. Also, I would recommend looking at warranty info to make sure it does not void any warranty period you may have. Thanks for your question. I hope this helps.
Good point point on reflection however I would lean towards the weld has different paint on it like rust preventer. Either way parts were welded after they were painted and weld covered up. The gap/crater in the frame to the left of the weld could signify a catastrophic failure either way it’s ugly and something funny going on there.
After all that work you would have more money in the old vehicle ( brakes, turbo diesel, power steering, heavier axles, paint and repairs, initial cost, $120 per hr. For mech. Machinist, or body man) and then you still have an old vehicle. Been there many times.
For $30,000 there are side by sides from literally every major manufacturer in that price range that would mop the floor with everything to do with this buggy. And for $30,000 you can buy an extremely fine Jeep. Hell for just under 10,000 just picked up a 2006 TJ in showroom condition completely unmodified with less than 100,000 mi on it and the only damn thing it needed was tires. Mahindra has the nice idea of putting a very simple little tractor motor in what is basically a CJ5. Were they fucked up is the price, and the fact that it is not street legal. Defeating its entire reason to exist.
For the price that they are asking for one of those , why not buy an old Suzuki samurai or grand Vitara and do whatever work that may be done then add tires & suspension you want for half the price , if you want a smaller off-road vehicle
