So weird that I couldnt watch this live but did two weeks later because I was in it. Greatest day of my life. If it looks amazing on TV, wait til you run it, the best forever moment😭😍 I attended in 2017 and was moved and inspired by 50,000 super heroes. Thought no way I could ever do this. But after Shalane won I put it on my bucket list. When Des won Boston, I thought I have to at least try. Every sacrifice crosses the finish line with you and is worth it.
I ran this very race. It was my 7th consecutive NYC marathon and I it was my personal best to date (4:23:26). Looking forward to the next in-person NYC marathon.
They finally mentioned "citizen runner" at mile 19. I was wondering the first 18 miles when they were going to acknowledge the guy with the number!!!! 🤯 unbelievable. 😍 Gebre 🙆🏽♀️
Hey NYRR stay true and do not cave in to those that put more on world records than the individual competition that each race brings. dont ever allow sanctioned pacers to dictate the race. thank you.
Of the 37k views how many watched this for 2.5 hours straight? Also I have this question...what is the purpose of watching jogging for hours? Also this question...what is the purpose of allowing the city to be shut down so people can jog through it? I just don't see how this *actually* benefits anyone.
The city is happy to accept the street rental fee paid by the event host. The event host is happy to accept the entrance fee paid by the runners. ( that is a lot of money if you look into how to be qualified to join the run). Tourism related businesses are happy to see revenue generated by the runners. Runners love a race that they can complete and compete.
@@jakejessen8927 Well that *does* make sense...Should have guessed$$$....but not the part about people enjoying a race they can complete. That part doesn't actually benefit them...they gain only an illusion if they finish...and would be just fine if it never happened.
@@logic.4218 well, I disagree that anyone can complete it. Sure, anyone can complete it if they’re jogging or waking the whole course. But most people have trained for the race so that they can complete it at a certain time. 26.2 miles is not a joke
I like Jon Andersen on ESPN, but it’s so annoying to have to listen to a non-runner and all his stupid little comments, while he tries to be funny for over 2hrs. Can we just have running commentators please?
Running this was the best day of my life ❤️
Same

Same here. Who would have thought 1 year later races world wide would basically be "erased" or cancelled.

I love the New York City Marathon
I plan on running 2021 even if I have to do that fundraising thing
Beautiful 💓
Who would have thought 1 year later racing events worldwide would have been erased because of a pandemic.
Hmmmm...... at time of writing..why are there only 5 comments....?? Guess the spark has gone....!
Wow! Nice 👍

1:58:32 A mile and some what left?
32:30 Men's Marathon
I'd rather watch the race than adverts and organisers
