- When it comes to making leather patterns in adobe illustrator there are some pitfalls that are common to run into. One pitfall is when you curve the corners of your leather patterns the holes no longer line up correctly and adding pockets will become difficult. In this video I share with you a simple fix so your leather patterns will come out with stitching holes that are straight and symmetrical around the entire leather craft pattern. Can you make video on how to make flat french holes ?
I would have to look deeper into it. It most likely would be creating the shape of the hole and then creating shape to path. I also ran into this software but I have not tried it yet but it seems to create French holes at a quick glance. If you try it, let me know what you think. Great! That is how I felt when I finally figured out the solution. This needed to be solved for me otherwise I would not be able to make patterns in a easy fashion. I had to share the info knowing others must be running into this problem. Thank you very much for the comment. :)
Ok, I have been struggling with this for awhile. Great ideas, however there is one major flaw with the way you do this. If you tell Illustrator to "fit" the holes, it will look all pretty, however I guarantee that your 4mm stitching punch will NOT line up with the holes, because there are tiny small gaps between various holes to make it "look" uniform. You will have to punch EACH hole individually.
Tell me that I'm wrong. If you look at Make Supply Leather, his video here ruclips.net/video/QJKkdOiOmnE/видео.html, you will hear him mention to NOT adjust the holes to fit. Just my two cents but I know this from spending hours on this problem.
I agree with the Make Supply video under those circumstances. My video deals with a full circle and not a half circle like the makesuppy video. I made my video inspired by a few of the makesupply videos on this topic. They have been very helpful to me and his videos (which are great) always delt with stitching holes on half patterns and when I did a pattern with stitching holes on complete pattern (stitching holes that go around the hole pattern) I ran into the conundrum he describes in the video you are pointing out. For this reason I had to explore a way to fix this solution when it comes to patterns that deal with stitching holes that surround the entire pattern. So far I have been able to use my 4 mm pricking iron perfectly around the entire pattern using this solution.
So, no you are not wrong under those circumstances. The big difference is in how different the patterns are in the videos. This technique is the solution for stitching holes that go completely around the entire pattern. If you have not tried it, give it a shot and make a small card wallet with 2 simple pockets and see if it works for you. Enjoy and thank you for the comment.
