Granger looks like Ian Fleming, the creator of James Bond, it is uncanny that he also had a talent for writing.

The late (and great) British film critic Alan Frank was hired to ghost-write Granger's autobiography. Frank said Granger was the most unpleasant person he ever worked with - and Frank worked with everyone who was anyone in Hollywood and Britain. None of the stories Frank told about Granger could be recounted here because of the language Granger regularly used - drunk (frequent) or sober.

So that manuscript of his autobiography Stewart always claimed to have written when living with of his daughter who also helped, which was leather bound then later auction after his death was a lie. It was sold at auction as being written by him or did he just spend hours writing it all out after for appearances because it was his handwriting that's great trouble to go in order to claim credit.

Cary Grant was a true Hollywood legend, a term that is now used too easily, Stuart Granger was just a British actor who was successful in Hollywood but there is only only one ever Cary Grant but. Particularly when he worked with the greats like Katherine Hepburn James Stewart and numerous others but of course when under the director Hitchcock

I always found Granger to be exceptionally attractive and sexy! I can see him in just a few Cary Grant-style roles, such as in Father Goose and Charade. I think he would have been terrific in Suspicion.
I love Young Bess, though it doesn't tell the entire sordid truth about his character's fall. (But then, it isn't a documentary, is it?)

His a good actor and very charismatic, he would've done well in the roles he lost if he had not messed it up. But he was honest about being a difficult character

I think you are right. Granger thought very highly of himself. He appears to be a difficult man.

Cary Grant was not as smooth or as natural as Stewart Granger. I could never seen Carrie Grant doing King Solomons mines.. could you imagine Cary Grant in the jungles getting Dan Druff on his shirt?
can you imagine Carrie Grant in a fist fight in a movie. I don’t ever remember seeing him kicking up some dust with anyone.. in fact, in the movie to catch a thief, Grace Kelly looked like she had more muscle in that beach scene, and she probably could’ve kicked his ass.. same thing with Sophia Loren. She could definitely have bitch slapped the crap out of Cary Grant. That wouldn’t happen with Stewart Granger.
this is not a fair comparison between the two actors.. Stewart Granger is more like Clark Gable. Carrie Grant is more like Pee-wee Herman.
