- Emilio Estevez's career in Hollywood spans over four decades, with a diverse range of films that showcase his talent as an actor, writer, and director. One of his early roles was in the 1982 film Tex, where he played the lead character of Tex McCormick, a teenager who gets into trouble with the law. This film marked the beginning of Estevez's journey in the film industry, and he soon became a part of the iconic Brat Pack group alongside actors like Rob Lowe, Andrew McCarthy, and Judd Nelson. Yet, in addition to movies like St. Elmo's Fire and The Breakfast Club, Estevez also cranked out a number of classics, like Repo Man, the Young Guns movies, Judgment Night, Freejack, The Mighty Ducks movies and so many more, before kicking off a solid directing career. So what happened to Emilio Estevez? We'll tell you!

Emilio Estevez is excelling behind the camera, not just in front of it. One of my favourite works of his is "The Way", where he directs his own father, Martin Sheen.
The Way is such a good film. It is definitely one of his best works,
That film rocks, makes me wanna walk the pilgrimage.
“Judgment Night” is probably one of the most underrated thrillers of the 90s, I always said it was amazing movie
The soundtrack was awesome
@@arturkarpinski164Exactly, soundtrack was big thing when realeased..I was 17 yrs old and everyone my age thought it's song collabs was great idea (eventhough we thought few bands on soundtrack were lame)
Yeah it's really good 👍
Facts!!!
@@TheMasonson perfect combination of Rock and Hip Hop
“Young Guns” was such a fun and enjoyable 80s action flick. Always a rewatchable movie
He was in Mission Impossible Part 1. A fact most people forget.
hasta lasagna, don't get any on ya
He has one of the most violent deaths in the franchise, he was just in the opening sadly
Hell he wasn't even in the credits
I didn't forget. I'm still mad that they put one of my favorite actors in there and killed him off almost immediately.
@@sim4344I agree. I was expecting him to be in the movie a lot longer. Then he was dead. I think that is why I don't like the first one that much.
80s kids: I love him in Breakfast Club
90s kids: I love him in Mighty Ducks
…me, born in 89: I love him in Maximum Overdrive
I loved Maximum Overdrive when I was a kid amd I still love it!!
Emilio did not play the lead character Tex, that was Matt Dillon. He played Johnny Collins. Might want to fix that!
@@jenisedaiso you made this mistake twice?!?!
'80s kids & teens be like, 'The Breakfast Club'!
'90s kids be like, 'MIGHTY DUUUUUCKS'!
My first introduction to him was Night at the Roxbury. Pretty nuts considering he isn't even in the movie.
Telling us to "shut up" after comparing him to Orson Welles was unexpected and had me chuckling before I even had my shot of rum! 🍻
I valeted his car at a hotel in Chicago once like a decade ago and he was super sweet and tipped well. I thought he was Martin Sheen at first because I hadn’t seen him in so long. He looked so much like his dad.
There was an oral history of "The Mighty Ducks" in Time magazine back in 2014, and everyone interviewed had glowing remarks about Estevez. Estevez himself declined repeated interview requests for the article.
The Mighty Ducks came out in 1992, not 1995.
Yeah, that caught my attention, too!
I saw him in Malibu 25 years ago. He looked through the window at me and laughed.
Men on Work and Young Guns... My youth was awesome...
He was in the Brats documentary by Andrew McCarthy
Repo Man is one of the best movies ever!
It's a great film indeed!
A Repo Man's life is ALWAYS intense.
It's so bizzare but funny!
💖💖
“I don’t want no commies in my car. No Christians, either.”😂
I liked him... Definitely remember from the mighty ducks
A Repo Man's life is ALWAYS intense.
Even though he did not show up in the movie, I love the Emilio reference in A Night in the Roxbury.
Matt Dillon was Tex. Estevez was supporting actor.
I love he kept his name. And his director works is wonderful
He's looking more and more like Martin his father.
I Met Emilio Estevez at “The Public” prescreening in 2018
How was he?
@@makitoni I work shows as an Audio/Visual tech. We didn’t have to put any lights on him because he had an aura around him.
We're you like "Emmillliooooooooo!!!"?
@@natelevy1040 yeah pretty much
Did he smell good?
I'd love if you created a video on what happened to the entire Brat Pack. But the Hulu Documentary "Brats" probably already covered that.
I very much enjoyed that film “the Public”. I didn’t find it “too preachy”. I was happy to finally see a film that deals with homelessness in a compassionate and politically conscious way.
It's cool you released this, this week because the real Mighty Ducks in the NHL just returned to the OG Mighty Ducks logo! (mostly OG).
I love Emilio. I'm excited to see his new projects. I'm especially excited that he's heavily involved in the new Young Guns film. He has a true love for that franchise and he will make sure it is done right.
Brat and Pack does not rhyme. It is simply a play on the "Rat Pack"' label.
I always thought he was an underrated actor. You could see by the way his career fizzled out in the 90s that the whole Brat Pack thing held him back.
Oh, come on!! Emilio didn't play Tex, Matt Dillon did! Estevez played his best friend! Did you even see the film? It was written & directed by the writers of Over The Edge (another classic film about teen angst).
He said Emilio played Two-Bit, which he did. And Matt Dillon's name wasn't Tex, it was Dallas.
@@jenisedai02:59 - if I were you, I would watch the video again. Emilio & Matt made two movies together. One right after the other. Both were based off S.E. Hinton novels. The first one was Tex. The second one was The Outsiders. Matt Dillon played the lead in Tex while Emilio Estevez played his best friend Johnny and Meg Tilly played Johnny's sister. It's a great film. You should watch it.
@@TheNameisPlissken1981 You didn't specify, and I've had multiple people call Matt Dillon's character in The Outsiders "Tex", so it's an understandable mistake. Especially when the video spent so long on The Outsiders and about 2 seconds on Tex.
@@jenisedai I love how it's my fault! Next time, I will be sure to break it down so even a child can understand.
@@TheNameisPlissken1981 I didn't say that. It's my fault for answering too quickly and not stopping to think that they might have been talking about a different movie- basically falling into the same trap other people have fallen into of mixing the two movies up.
It's a real pity the actors of his generation aren't seen that often anymore, most of them have more acting talent in their little toes than the younger big screen stars of today that all look and sound the same. Signs of the superficial times of today, I suppose so maybe it's a blessing too because movies nowadays are just so ultra dull in every imaginable way, full of gloss but very little substance and talent to hold it all together.
Got to love The Outsiders and Men At Work. Not to mention The Breakfast Club, The Might Ducks, and The Young Guns movies. And most importantly Maximum Overdrive.
Well u made me want to go watch mighty duck 1 and 2. Maybe 3. I can't even tell u the last time I have seen any of them but i loved them growing up
A.i written??
Emilio and Charlie look just like they’re a father. Martin Sheen is a silver fox.🙌
The Mighty Duck Man, I swear to God, I was there....
Young guns 2 was one of the greatest films ever i have literally seen it over 200 times,no joke at all.
I completely forgot about Maximum overdrive, I was rewatching Tremors last year, and I was thinking "whatabout that truck movie that looks like its set in the same town" Maximum Overdrive..thank you
I just watched the documentary on Hulu called Bratz about the bratpack and their rise and demise. I was really excited to see Emilio Estevez talk about things and his interview was the most lackluster. He seemed like he was the most offended by the phrase and the typecasting. I understand that, but he didn’t have to be such a jag about it him and I was hoping that this would really help propel him back into the limelight.
Before starting the video, there better be a Night at the Roxbury reference!
Darn...
Judgment Night is still one of his best films and I hope the new young guns film is great too. 🐴
According to the BRATZ documentary (which you should have watched as part of your research) they didn't like the name because it didn't necessarily make sense and they felt the author of the article was being dismissive for no apparent reason. Also apparently they weren't necessarily friends in real life outside of them working together.
Do one on Christian Slayer . Both of these actors are my awesome child hood .
I can’t hear his name without doing the Stan Smith EMILIOOOOOOOO
The Mighty Ducks didn't come out in 1995, it came out in 1992.
Mind blowing that he grew up in the same household as Charlie. One so grounded, and the other so delusional. But I still love them both.
It's hard to believe Emilio Estevez and Charlie Sheen are brothers. They're completely different.
My first favorite actor before they trained kickboxers in the thespian arts. My buddy still wears his Army jacket he bought after seeing _Wisdom_.
"The Way" from 2010 is worth to check out!
The Mighty Ducks was released in 1992, you said it was 1995.
I grew up on the Mighty Ducks. Sometimes though, anytime I heard Emilio's name, I think of "Night at the Roxbury" 🤷
The Awesomeness That Is The Estevez Family! 👊😎✊😎👍😎👌🍁
I have never heard Young Guns described as a classic Western. I thought it was silly fun with some good scenes and good characters trying to compensate for an okay story
I think him growing up under a massive father and name (SO much respect for him not selling out like Dad and Charlie did for fake Sheen hollywood made up name) along w being 5’ 7” were constant driving forces that contributed to his overall awesomeness
"Look, someone threw away a perfectly good white boy!" is a line that will never leave my head. If you haven't seen Men at Work- watch it!
While you're at it you better watch the movie "Better off Dead". That's where the "They gone and threw away a perfect white boy." After John Cusack's character tries jumping off the bridge then he backs out and "Bugar" tells him to "Take it easy bud!" And taps his shoulder hard and he ends up falling off the bridge into the garbage truck and as he's pulling down the street in the garbage fill dump truck two black guys say that line. "Better off Dead" came out in 1984. And "Men at Work" which is a much funnier movie and a better movie. Both are great. But "Men at Work" came out in 1990 man. Same year as "Young Guns 2". They were playing the same time. Emilio directed it and his brother Carlos, a true great brother starred in it with him. But the fact that the movies came out six years apart and neither Emilio, Charlie or anyone was in John Cusack's break up movie except for Curtis Armstrong and everyone's favorite Pedo Dan Schneider, ntm Elizabeth Franklin as well, who was big back in the day. And extra fact. John Cusack's ex in the movie was the first person to get killed in the "ANOES" by Freddy in the first film of the franchise. Tiiinaa!😮 So to you my friend we all give you a big giant "Golf Clap" for your lack of movie knowledge in general. And saying it so proudly. You made my day
@@Thathorrorguy12FU Wow, you need a life.
@@Thathorrorguy12FU but just for the record, I've seen BoD. The delivery of that line was fine. The delivery of the line in MaW was much better and is why it stuck in my head.
Find someone else to bother, I'm not a big fan of blocking but I'm not completely averse to it.
“Small town in Oklahoma”
Tulsa is the 2nd largest city in the state
Emilo did not play Tex , in The movie Tex .... That was Matt Dillion.... Really good work🤔
St. Elmos fire was BEFORE breakfast club? My head just exploded. FreeJack is a masterpiece!
They both played at the movies in 1985. Breakfast Club came out earlier that year and then St Elmo's Fire Kate that year. Both made big money.
@@Thathorrorguy12FU I was born in '86 and always assumed st. Elmo's was a few years after breakfast club, trippy.
Emilio wrote, directed, and acted in about 7 movies. That’s pretty impressive. Theres a small contingent who appreciate “Wisdom”. I like it for it's 80's-ness. The movie is really hard to find. Emilio is pretty embarrassed of it and apparently doesn't like to talk about it.
I think as an actor, his best performance was in The Breakfast Club. That monologue he does in it is really great. But I also think he kills it in 'Young Guns" as Billy the Kid. The guy was just as talented of an actor as his brother. I think it was just that he wasn't always given the opportunities in part because the 90's were that good to him and I think he wanted to make his own movies. Here's hoping that Young Guns 3 happens.
You didn’t cover “That Was Then, This Is Now”. It’s my favorite Emilio Estevez movie. His father bought the rights to the story and Emilio wrote the screenplay and starred in it.
No shit. And that was also another film Emilio was in that played in the movies in 1985. Dude was in three great movies in one year. Also that was the third character he played in a movie based on an SE Hinton book. First was "Tex" then "The Outsiders" and last "That was Then, This is Now" all three were great! And WTF did this guy miss that movie for? He was a troubled teen who really got in deep in that one. Ntm Morgan Freeman and Craig Schaefer! Wow Joblo!
You jumped from Judgement night (93) to mission impossible (96) to mighty ducks and quote it being 1995… mighty ducks was 92…. I was enjoying this video up to that point. Plus, you mentioned him starring with C Sheen in Men At Work but not in Young Guns… shame.
Could you do one of 'WTF happened to Bill Pullman'?
You forgot about the movie Nightmares (1983) where Emilio got stuck inside that video game.
What about his films' soundtracks? _Repo Man_ and _Judgment Night_ are two pretty iconic ones.
From being part of the Infamous Brat Packs to starring in the Mighty Ducks "Quack Quack" Emilio has had a solid career as member of the Sheen/Estevez family
The film mightn't have been a hit, but the soundtrack is awesome and the artist was chosen specifically by King and he went to some lengths to secure them.
@11:25 The Mighty Ducks came out in 1992.
Matt Dillon played the lead character in Tex! Emilio played his best friend!
"Quack quack quack mr. Ducksworth!"
The mighty ducks was released in 1992, not 1995
he made that mighty ducks money and retired lol. only coming back for a few films every now and then
I read somewhere that Emilio is the most profitable actor of all time if you compare how much his movies cost to make vs how much they grossed. I think Van Damme was second and Mel Gibson was also high on the list
Do Judd Nelson
Strange that nobody talks about That was then, This is now with Chraig Schaffer. I love that movie allthought I know its not the best. Emilio,s acting in it completly sells it.
Always Loved Emilio. Men At Work is a Classic amd Young Guns, I mean COME ON....ITS YOUNG GUNS....NUFF SAID..
And I was like EMILIOOOOO!!!
I love the movie Maximum Overdrive. It was one of my favorites when I was younger.
Freejack was awesome!
“How great is Emilio Estevez? He’s a Sheen, yet he chooses to be Mexican, he makes a number of classics, and then is smart enough to know when everyone’s had enough of him, and just disappears. EMILIOOOOOOOOOO!”-Stan Smith
Hello Bob!
Bye Bob!
Best dollar 80 I ever spent!
It's actually goodbye bob but I was thinking the same thing when the video started.
I first seen Emilio Estevetz in D2: The Mighty Ducks. I recently seen Maximum Overdrive which was okay.
Mighty Ducks was 92, not 95.
Emilio's the man!!!!
I didnt know Emilio was Martin's son, I always just mistook the 2 for each other
This put some doubt in what I'm being told: Matt Dillon as Texas "Tex" McCormick
Nobody gonna mention how well he age
I feel like Emilio Estevez is still happening.
Tex was played by Matt Dylon not Emilio. He played Tex’s best friend in the film.
Let's face it:
Emilio Estevez is William H. Bonney. He should've gotten an Oscar nom for his portrayal.
And yes...JoBlo made a goof on The Mighty Ducks...its 1992 not 1995.
The accent is in the second e, Estévez.
Anybody else remember the Mighty Ducks coming out before 95, like 92 or so. Mandela Effect
Men At Work is awesome!
Is the writer and/or narrator in love with Emilio Estevez or something? I've never seen a RUclips video before where a man repeatedly references how handsome another man is before. Hey, if he's into Emilio, to each his own, but it's a tad odd to hear over and over again.
But you gave some love to Men At Work, so I'll let it slide. That's always been one of my favorite movies. Him, his brother, and Keith David are just too damn funny to not enjoy it...
Loaded weapon shoulda had 3 sequels and men at work is great
No mention of "Rated X"?!, another brotherly sheen/estevez combo.
I love maximum overdrive and Ac/Dc soundtrack, the movie is badass, and please don't down play the mighty duck animated series, I loved that cartoon
I love you Joe Blows! Love you ALOT!
Bro you Didn't bring up 1986 Wisdom that's an Underground Classic... ps: I don't have Hulu I need your account Thanks Champ🥊
freejack was cool as when i was kid.
Cool!
