His parents are both famous professional singers in Kazakhstan. His mother is an Opera singer and his dad is a Pop singer/Producer (and Dimash’s manager). I think Dimash inherited all those skills, from his parents and more, because he also composes epic songs!

According to movie trivia, the film's composer Eric Serra designed the futuristic pop-opera to be technically impossible for a human to hit some of the high notes so quickly after another. Therefore, Albanian Opera Singer Mula-Tchako had to sing the notes individually so that they could then be arranged digitally. But Dimash.......oh, dearest Dimash.....he sings with his own voice. No digital effects, just his incredible, alien range.

I have absolutely loved ❤ this song from the very first time he sang it. His vocal skills remind me of a ZIPPER! You know that You Tube video, where a girl is standing in front of her horse, and the horse has a good grip on the zipper of her jacket. And he's just going wild zipping her jacket up and down and up and down so fast it's a wonder he didn't break the girl's zipper. So funny! Dimash is just like that horse. Zipping wildly through through those vocals! He takes my breath away!

The human that was asked to sing this for the movie and lipsinked of course, said she could not sing a couple of the notes well enough . So with the technology that we have these days, it was done with a computer. So here we have a man singing it in a live performance. -- Huge difference don't you think.
I have heard that in one of his performances of this song, he sings a semi-tone lower though I'm only repeating info from another critique.
It still must be said that this young man is truly a genius and most certainly blows the doors of conventional genres to a places no one yet can find.

it's 20+ years of practicing, a lot of the higher register has been practiced more recently in the past 10 years. there's a compilation of SOS over the span of like 9 or 10 years and you can tell how much he's improved in just a short time later on.
