Great video!! I’m familiar with the sky buckets in Busch Gardens Williamsburg. They are fun! But getting in and out can be a bit of a squeeze for ladies with big hips like me. But I made it work. The last time I was there, the buckets weren’t working. And this year/season, the park isn’t open because of COVID. 😢
I thought I might have a struggle but it was very easy -- I did snag the strap of my back pack, which was slung on my arm, on the door as I exited -- which is why you hear me apologize -- the host help untangle it. Otherwise I was able to get on and off without issue and the ride was comfortable overall.
I love this ride much better than Disney's Skyliner because this ride is open and you can feel the rush of air that cools you off even in the summer time. It allows you to hear all the sounds of the theme park and the animals too. It's a little more bouncy too which makes it more fun. I love roller coasters too but I was deadly afraid of going on one that went upside down until I finally tried Rock N Roller Coaster at Hollywood Studios. I LOVED it! Now I can't get enough of upside down coasters.
You know Pammie, these are the kinds of experiences I usually skip. I'm such a thrill seeker at theme parks. You inspire me to want to take a chill pill and enjoy attractions like this.
I love that the videos inspire you that way. That's totally my intention. I want show you what is possible, point out the challenges and show you the solutions. From personal experience I know it is a lot easier to enjoy something when you know what to expect .... a little bit of knowledge help you relax and enjoy yourself. I truly hope that seeing a 50 year old 330 to 380 lb woman get on roller coasters and sky rides, and boat rides will inspire others to try the same.
Great video, Pammie! I have only the vaguest of memories of the park, I was very young when we went. I’m almost sure that we went on something like this, but I could be wrong.
Thank you, Jenny! This ride that serves as transportation has been in the parks for as long as I can remember. I started visiting Busch Gardens as a toddler in the early 70s and I seem to remember it back then. It's just as fun as I remembered it.
I am having a lot of anxiety lately and coming back to your videos for some soothing company. It is SO STRANGE to see no one wearing masks in these old pre-pandemic videos! I hope someday that’s not a strange sight anymore and we can all enjoy theme parks without fear of illness again. Thanks for these videos Pammie. You’re keeping me sane and you don’t even know it!
It does go quite high but it feels secure. But, you should never put yourself in an anxious place when you go to a theme park. If you are unsure about a ride, skip it and do something you know you will love.
In Williamsburg, there's a special loading area for people with wheelchairs. (At least there was in the 80's when I worked there). We would get the passengers in one gondola, and put their wheelchair in one right behind them. Each station has a side-track, for those who need extra assistance entering or exiting the gondola. Side note: Sometimes I would hear kids complain about having to sit facing backwards, so I'd tell them they could twist the pole in the center, and rotate like the teacup rides. PRANK!!! lol
Thanks for this tip! I did not see a side track at BG Tampa. There was just one loading and unloading area. You still get as much time as you need to board and exit because there is lots of room for gondolas to park as they wait to unload. Your info about the wheel chair is accurate -- the same is sometimes done for some larger strollers.
so not the point of this video but i must know, and i realize this was filmed in Feb and the chances of you remembering are slim to none, but WHAT is your lipcolor???? i am OBSESSED with it. perfect berry color!!!
When I am doing a long day of vlogging in the parks when it is cool out, I almost always wear a LORAC lip stain. It goes on like lipstick but even if it gets worn away from drinking water or eating -- the stain remains behind on your lips. And bonus -- it stays put and does not get sticky or gooey. Here's a link to where you can buy my exact shade, Thrill Seeker -- great lip color name for a lady who goes on a lot of roller coasters, right?! amzn.to/2PokmD7
Great review. Would you say this was more enjoyable than the Skyliner? I've always been nervous about the old school style gondolas and how they would react to my weight. Keep up the great work!
Both! LOL -- The Skyride is much cooler in the summer months because there is no glass enclosure. Because you are traveling over animal habitats and portions of the theme park -- the Skyride views are better. However these gondolas do sway a bit in stiff breezes and they do rock and sway heading into and out of stations. This may be a bit much for folks afraid of heights. I was riding solo so the gondola was tilted as I left the station and again when I arrived but the hosts held it steady and balanced it out so I could get on and off easily. Once I was off and running -- the gondola balanced out. The Skyliner seats are more spaceous and there is a ton of legroom -- making it more fun for plus size and tall people. The enclosure makes it a bit quieter in the gondola too and the ride is much smoother and overall more peaceful. The Skyliner gondolas feel more substanial and therefore give the impression of more safety -- however the Skyride has been in operation for about 40 years without issue -- so it's definately safe. People who have a sense of adventure and love thrill rides are going to enjoy the Skyride much more. People who are about luxury and peace of mind will enjoy the Skyliner more.
Thank you so much for your eagle eye. I was able to very quickly edit the thumbnail to the correct name which is Skyride. Hopefully this will help avoid confusion for other viewers. Thanks!
Thank you Pammie that was so helpful and fun. The views are so cool. I wanted to ask a few questions: Are we able to grab on to something to help us step up into the gondola? I have such awful knees and am plus size. Also, does it rock away from you when getting in and out? Thank you so much. Hope you and your family are staying safe and Well. Your hair is always so beautiful. God Bless 🙏🤗🦋
You are welcome. About your questions .... Yes, you can grab a hold of the vertical bars on either side of the doorway to the gondola. Take a look at this clip and you will see people hanging on to those bars as they board. I don't have the greatest knees in the world either and I had my hands full so I did not use them and I was fine. As you board, the host holds onto the gondola so it doesn't tip. I was getting on alone and that should have made it tip considerably but it did not. As you exit two hosts "catch" the gondola as it arrives at the unloading spot and they hold on to it while you disembark to keep it steady. Take a look at this clip from the video that shows me getting off and I also got a shot of other people getting off too.... ruclips.net/video/P-SMG6VP9QY/видео.html I believe the ride is set to automatically have the gondolas sit paused and waiting to enter the boarding area if it is backed up. So, you don't need to rush. Before boarding, take a deep breath, relax and know that you are going to get on just fine -- then carefully get in the car - it may help if you are the first in your party to board.
@@PammiePlusParks Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. You are such a great Guardian Angel! 😇 I re-watched the video and paid closer attention to the boarding and un-boarding. I love the videos so much and have taken to making list as I watch your videos. Hope you and your family are well! Take Care!! 🤗🙏🦋
There are a number of rides and experiences that do work for large people, but some of the coasters are a no-go. I hesitate to say this park is not fat friendly because the ride hosts and employees are super kind and friendly. Plus, there are shows and animal exhibits that many can enjoy. Some of the rides won't work for fat people or people with mobility or sensory concerns but there is so much to do at the park that many folks may still find out worthwhile to visit.

Oh my goodness Pammie! You are braver than me. I would be so scared up there. Ferris wheels scare me too. What's strange is I love roller coasters. 😆

I’d like to see more of that park. Never been. Thank you for your reviews

That looks like a nice ride, though as someone with a bit of a fear of heights, I don't know if I'd actually ride the Skyride.

That looks like so much fun! My kind of ride for sure! My Dollywood trip is just a month away would be nice if they had something similar!
Such a classic at BGT this is a must ride when I go (if its open and not a long line lol)
It was a beautiful, cool day in February when I went -- perfect for sightseeing on a skyride.
@@PammiePlusParks I miss cold days! This summer heat sucks!

I have never visited Busch Gardens Williamsburg -- but I believe their rides are very similar to Busch Gardens Tampa.
Have you ever been to Cedar Point?
Not yet but hope to someday.
