    I’m 5’8” and weighed about 380 last time I was on this. I have lipolymphedema, so most of my weight is from the waist down. I fit just fine on Mission Space.
    However, my first time riding this, I was 27 years old and there wasn’t a choice between orange and green. It was only “orange”. I loved it! As I get older (now 42), I can’t handle the spinning. I get motion sickness and sometimes a headache. I’m so glad I can ride the green side with my husband and 8-year-old son. It’s a great attraction.

    I just rode this for the very first time earlier in the month. I'd been coming to Disney since the late 80s, but when this came out, I was too scared. Admittedly, I was TERRIFIED when going in! I thought I'd do green just to get a feel for it, but I mistakenly went into Orange. My heart was pounding...But holy crow, I loved it SO much that, since it was close to the end of the night, I told the girl at the end that I'd see her in a few minutes and looped back around to ride it again! Anyway, if I hadn't had a fast pass for Soarin', I probably would've gone back a third time, to be honest. It was that fun...although I admit I had a mild--brief--headache after the second time.
    Isn't it crazy, though, how even just a simple screen can be enough to trick your brain? I found myself needing to hold onto the railing when I watched the new Canada pavilion movie, because some of those flying shots made me feel like I was really moving!
    PS (sorry for the long comment!) - I had to look up whether this was plus-size friendly before I went on, and I found myself wishing you'd made a video on it! So I'm glad it's finally here, for future visitors! :D

      I love long comments and detailed stories -- it makes my day! I can't wait to see the new Canada movie -- haven't seen it yet. So glad you enjoyed the orange version of this ride. It is thrilling but for me -- I just can't do it. However my ride on the green this time around was really wonderful and I had zero issues.

    I find it super interesting that you normally are not prone to motion sickness and feeling it on this ride. I rode this ride a few years ago and I get motion sickness pretty easily (I can’t stand VR, it kills me) but, I was actually able to ride this twice before feeling kinda sick...I think it must have been some sort of fluke or something :P

    • @PammiePlusParks
      @PammiePlusParks  4 года назад +1

      In the orange version of the ride I am positive that the reaction is the combo of G-forces and motion sensor. This was my first time trying the green after the renovation a couple of years ago and I feel like this ride was more gentle than before -- I had zero issues this time around.

    This is one of my favorite rides...I always feel like an astronaut!
    I will say, your mileage may vary, but my mom is very claustrophobic but she rode this ride and said she did very well because they blow cold flowing air on you the whole time you’re in the ride vehicle! Don’t take that to mean that no one will have issues, but if flowing air helps with your claustrophobia you may find this ride more doable!

    Best way to avoid getting nauseous is to look straight ahead. DO NOT look away from the screen or close your eyes. Also, do not eat anything within an hour or two before riding. If people followed these rules, most could ride the intense side with no problems.

    I rode this for the first time in June 2017, We chose the Orange experience. For a few seconds I thought I was going to pass out during the launch sequence. I didn't, but I'll probably choose the Green experience the next time. I don't normally have any issues on rides so I was a bit surprised. However, it was the very first ride of our vacation only a couple of hours after landing in the humid Orlando weather (we're from RI and it had been a very mild start to summer for us so the heat/humidity was a bit of a shock). ...I'd also been up since 4am. I don't know if any of that contributed to they way I felt. It was still an enjoyable and very thrilling ride.

    • @PammiePlusParks
      @PammiePlusParks  4 года назад +1

      I am sure all of that played a large role in your reaction. For me -- I am able to tolerate motion sensor rides or G-force rides -- but a ride that combines the two seems to be a bit too much for even a hard core thrill ride junky like myself.

    This ride sounds like fun so I'll definitely check it out. I really appreciate your videos! I saw that you wore compression socks. Do they help leg pain or just keep swelling down? I've never worn them before. How do you figure out what size you need or are there plus sizes? Thanks in advance!

    • @PammiePlusParks
      @PammiePlusParks  4 года назад +1

      Both! Due to cancer treatment many years ago I have a mild to moderate case of lymphedema that causes fluids to pool in my lower calf whenever I spend a great deal of time on my feet, walking or even when sitting for long periods of time. The socks help keep that in check but I also noticed that the support seems to prevent pain in my calves from hours of walking. In fact - they feel like they add a spring in my step and I believe I have more energy as a result. If you have a medical need for support socks - talk to your doctor -- they can write you a prescription so that they are covered by your medical insurance. My case is mild enough that it is mostly controled by ensuring I don't sit or stand too long an d through elevation of my feet and legs. I buy my socks from Amazon and wear a large or XL men's sock which works well for my calves. If you get medcial grade, prescription socks they are really expensive but they come in a variety of sizes to fit your leg length and calf width. If you are like me and buy them over the counter --- check the sizing chart and purchase a pair that fits your calf width. Here's a link to the exact style I wear: amzn.to/2HDgN8s

    I am wondering if you have any experience with the little loungefly backpacks disney sells. Thanks for any info!!

    • @PammiePlusParks
      @PammiePlusParks  4 года назад

      I have never tried them on -- they are super cute but I prefer my accessories to be scaled to my body size -- even if the straps fit I would probably not use a mini back pack as I think it would look very small in comparison to my size. That is just a personal preference though. I am sure they are very cute on -- but I like my bags a little larger.

    I rode mission space once when there was only 1 version, the intense one. I never wrote it again and never tried the less intense version. I don't know whether I should try it again.

      This was my first time trying the green version since the ride renovation a couple of years ago I and I have to say it felt a lot more gentle and mild than my previous experience. I had zero motion sickness issues and enjoyed it quite a bit.

      Oh my goodness! I hope you heal quickly and completely from your car accident! I am planning to try to ride the new ride in mid-March, close to my birthday.

    I got very dizzy on the intense side. I had to lay down for an hour in the kids play area. I now stay away from spinning rides

      It's interesting how people who don't normally have motion sickness will feel it on this ride. Oddly -- I have been on rides with a similar G-force set up with zero issues and I've been on motion simulator rides that were similar -- it seems to be the combination of motion simulator and G-force that does me in.

    Pammie, I am going back to Orlando for my husband's 50th bday at the end of this month. I wanted to know which rides at Epcot take photos of us while riding? I bought the Photo Pass and see on a map where we can get photos taken but we always purchase pictures on the rides. Would you mind sharing ?

      I think the only rides at Epcot that currently have photo ops are Frozen and Test Track'. Ride photos usually are reserved for roller coasters or thrill rides. At this time, these are the two most thrilling rides at Epcot. When Ratatouille and Guardians of the Galaxy open, they might have photo ops.
