The ESEE 6HM is only $128 on Amazon in my opinion it's the best model of the ESEE 6 line, I don't have one but if I could it would be the 6HM. On Amazon the ESEE 6 is going around $140.
Looking at the Architect 5.5 in Magnacut, but as I understand it's not great at making sparks on a ferro rod, given it's rounder spine edges. Question, do you think you could make those edges sharper with a little grinding are would you just be ruining the knife? I've also heard that jimping on the top is pretty aggressive and not the most comfortable if your choking down on the knife? Thoughts?
For the Cold Steel SRK, I don't know if it's overpriced in Europe or what? But in the Knives and Tools shop, the CPM 3V is at 292€, and the SK5 at 60€. It's either much more expensive or less expensive than the $80/100 price range???
@@billvan5219 I'm not a moron, I have the appropriate gear with me all the time. Why would you not go into a heavy knife use situation without a field worksharp with you? @@AndrewBradley-kx4bb i like elmax. Just wary of having it on a hard use knife. 3v, cruwear, magnacut, nitro-v, etc are steels I personally prefer on blades that size.
Lower price get the verusteleka Terava Jakarri puukko. Higher end but not a bank acct breaker get the Cold Steel Republic. They are versatile, comfortable and rugged like a fixed blade survival knife should be.
You can buy the ESEE 6 with scuplted micarta handles for $130 at Chicago Knife Works, but the AK 6.5 in 3V with similar accessories (micarta handles, sheath, clip) is $270. So I don't think they're really comparable budget-wise.

I know Moras have a cult like following but run of the mill Moras aren't full tang so can't really be considered a survival knife IMO. I have $20 Rough Ryder fixed blades that are full tang and superior to basic Moral in everything (that matters in a survival situation) except feather sticking.
@@spocker22 BS, for batoning (something you may very likely need in a survival situation) full tang is extremely important for durability/so it doesn't break.

Architect is the best kept secret! Excellent knives at very reasonable prices, plus their choice of steel's are great!
Agreed!
Agreed but the full price on an ak is way above 200
Architect knives are awesome!🔥
Agreed
Just checked on the AK knives website and the price for an AK 6.5 in CPM-3V sheath included is $273.57. That's almost twice the price for an ESSE 6.
Nowhere near twice. Amazons price for ESEE 6s are in the $200s
Twice the price of an ESEE? Not true, but it is 29.6 Billion times better than an ESEE. Good LUCK with your blades!
I just bought an Esee 6 with 3D handle brand new from Chicago knife works for $122 this month.

Living is Europe is the problem. In the states it’s not rare to see the SK5 version for $30 and the 3V for $100.
Th thing I like about my 1095 over my magnacut is field sharpenability
Get better at sharpening.

I'm just not sure about the apocalypse. Looks great, but I'm not sure about elmax on a blade like that.
I have an Elmax blade in a Fallkniven but haven’t tried it yet
