      @ intro:
Does your skin feel dry and cracked?
Then don't play survival, but live with nature for a change. Leave off all the creams for your face and hands, air the house thoroughly three times a day for 5 min and cycle at least 10-12 miles every day, regardless of whether it's raining or snowing. The only exception is if there is so much snow that riding is really no longer possible, then jog half the distance! Plus a change in diet. Avoid highly processed foods. Instead, buy fresh fruit, vegetables and meat and cook for yourself. Cut out glutamate, sugar and salt completely and your body will reward you with unprecedented vitality after the detox!
You can bet that within a year your skin will be juicy as a baby's bottom and will never crack or feel dry in the cold again!

Sword and machete tip, you don’t want a lanyard so much as a cord to wrap around your hand because you don’t want a blade that big flailing around if knocked or shocked out of your hand so having an ability to drop or retain it as you like is nice. Also, for fine carving put the handle in your armpit, edge up and you can use the tip in a really steady way for fine work since the blade is braced at both ends.

My experience is 1075 is more suited for thicker tools, meeting harder use, as axes, and 1095 for thinner blades, as knifes. Yet handling batoning well. And the 1075 and 1095 are both so soft one can field sharpen them on any stone found in a creek. As you said, just keep em dry! :)
