I love that style of fishing though usually I more often go the softy way. Will have to try the slow jigs too. We did try softbaits out of Thornton but struggled to get past the Kahawai.
I've dropped down to 24 gram on the softbait rod Ray, good distance and hook ups from the beach. I still use the 80 gram you gave me years ago, I just tie good knots and use good line.

We got the jet boat stuck on that Tarawera River bar once...had to wait for tide to come back in so could drive it off 🤔 That was a big splash alright, just at the end there.... I keep watching to see someone catch a Tarakihi...one day, aye ... Kia Ora....👍🙏
Chur brother Rico, hope you are well bro. We went and tried the 24 gram ones on small spin rods with braid and were getting some great distance and hook ups, fish staying on with smaller hooks. Way better fishing 🎣

We managed to get the snapper beneath the kahawai school swimming around and through us a couple of times. 🎣
Good spinners or lures, but $15 for a blue and white 80grm, sorry my bros that doesn't make sense to me.
