    pretty cool u showcased the old school classic lures. pretty cool a fellows trying to produce them here in nz now. i still got one of the grim reaper lures but never used it haha got it hidden somewhere haha. i remember the old shows they showcased those lures so much especially wen jigging for both snapper and kingfish

      Thanks mate, yeah it was awesome to see how these lures are made locally and the improvements Dean has done. The next video will be awesome too because we only fished with the grim reapers and caught so many fish. Using them as micro jigs instead of just spinning lures makes them so versatile and effective.

    In 1989 I won a competition with Grim Reaper lures. I had to return the packaging to go in the draw. The prize was a trip to the Three Kings Islands a speed jigging rod and reel, a bunch of lures and a Grim Reaper hat. I lost the hat somewhere in my travels but still have a few lures , the rod and reel and the memories of a great trip.

      Wow, winning that competition must have been a dream come true! It's a shame about the hat, but the memories and the lures are priceless. Thanks for sharing your story!

      Yeah some great lures with a lot of history. It was super fun to watch them being made as I had no idea about this process before we went there. Lot's of work goes into making them.

    Amazing! Would love to get my hands on some of the tiny 6gm black/gold trout versions. Those were deadly in the lakes!

    • @Fishingreminder
      @Fishingreminder  3 месяца назад

      yeah black and gold is the best color from my experience as well. Could also paint them over with a bit of nail polish to get the black and gold effect. I actually might give that a go :) the small pink and white can also be quite good for trout.

    Very interesting, I’ve had these in the past, will have to give them another whirl with that hook arrangement

    • @Fishingreminder
      @Fishingreminder  10 месяцев назад

      yeah the jig assist hooks and the UV color make all the difference. We caught so many snapper with them. Next video will be all about fishing with these lures.

    Awesome video guys, you put that together really well. It's always interesting to see how lures are made, it's definitely a craft and I totally understand how much positive intention goes into each and every single one he makes. Dean is actually my brother, and if anyone knows about jigging for fish - it's Dean! 😊
    Great video, awesome lures! New subscriber right here 😊

    Great video as always! Amazing channel! I’m visiting my bro in law in Feb from uk. Could you please suggest some land based and easy kayak sots for me to try . He lives in Titirangi. I’m a super keen lure and bait fisherman. Thanks again for your great videos!

    • @Fishingreminder
      @Fishingreminder  9 месяцев назад

      Thanks John. There are a few nice spots out from Titirangi for land based fishing. Kayaking can be a bit dangerous in the Manukau harbour because of the strong currents. But for land based spots, just out from one of the beaches at low tide/incoming, fishing into a channel. Then there is a popular fishing wharf in Cornwallis. My favourite spot for fishing would be Whatipu. A bit of a drive but it's awesome for rock fishing and surfcasting. Have a look at our video about fishing and camping spots in Auckland. We showcase a bit of Whatipu there.

      Thanks for the information about fishing near Titirangi. Very helpful! We will try some of those spots you mentioned in your camping fishing spots video near Auckland. We will hopefully do a trip to the far north and that spot you featured at houhora heads looks amazing! Keep making the videos! Best NZ fishing channel on u tube! Cheers John.
