  • CPD launched the Crisis Co-Responder Unit (CCRU) in December 2021 after the pandemic revealed a need in the community.

    I guess the question is, does it make a difference. I see the numbers of what could have been, but does that mean those who could have been arrested or hospitalized would have been to begin with? The real proof can be measured by those who have been served by these two units having a reduced number of future encounters with law enforcement. It will prove or disprove itself.

    So in this latest dystopian nightmare, your neighbor calls this team on you because you caught them stealing your packages. This "team" shows up with this "expert" and decide you need to go to the hospital. Then they continually harass you for up to 3 years.

    Compaired to the entire defund the police movement, this is a better idea.

      The badly communicated idea of "defund the police" is use the funds for things like mental health experts...
