It might be a good idea to become a vassal, as leading armies is one of the only ways to increase the leadership perk. It goes extremely slow otherwise.

You could have cheesed this by just joining an ongoing siege by sneaking into the castle. Defenders usually win in this game 4 to 1 and you get a literal instant army of gear and freed prisoners.
There was a time in development when all crossbow troops in the game were equipped with tournament bolts and did blunt damage. By the time I was fighting in big army battles I was pulling in enough prisoners to ransom or convert them and fund my war effort while replenishing any losses I took.
lol same I watched all the rim world ones now I'm on this. Kenshi looks like a fucking weird acid trip game and I don't know what it is and it scares me so I passed on that seires.
Those Battani Fain Archers are, by a very large margin, the best unit in the game. Also you are going to have a tough time chasing down bandits once you get an army. Horses will allow your infantry to move faster, as well as boost your inventory size.

you should probably get the RecruitablePrisonersMods to be able to recruit high tier troops and Distinguished Service mod if you still want companions and want to get them without hiring them you can probably find both easily by searching them by name but if you want i can post the links here too
I actually love this game and it’s strange seeing Ambiguous Amphibian being (somewhat) less knowledgeable in a game than I am. I kinda just always expect him to be incredible at games but it’s nice to see that he’s not instantly great at all games I love… although he’s totally better at the combat than I was when I started
Forest Bandits are actually some of the best archers in the game. The only foot archers that are superior are the Battanian Fians, which they can be upgraded to, but cost an arm and a leg to upkeep.
Highly suggest farming forest bandits (They eventually upgrade to the best archer unit in the game) and steppe bandits for some half decent cav (Mountain bandits can sometimes spawn on horseback, but I think those are just their chiefs). Consider farming peasants too since they cost nothing to maintain and eventually upgrade to mercenary units. EXXXXTRA TIP: Buy a store ASAP. I suggest a woodworking store in Battania. It'll pay itself back in literally 2 weeks and after that it'll fund another store while reducing the amount of denars you have to pay your men, its easily the best investment you can do in this game.
You could litterally loot tournament arrows at some point to shoot them down non-lethally, and there where wooden hammers available to take them down non-lethaly! ah well, little tip; if its blunt it will knock out enemies instead of killing them.
If you use blunt tipped arrows Like the tournament arrows, you would get more prisoners that way. But I love the vid so keep it up. Tell the tale of Jack Sparrow!!!
In 1v1 matches, if you press E while blocking when he goes for an swing, you can smack him with your shield wich stuns him shortly, during that stun you can get a safe attack in. That way you can whittle his health down without ever getting hit, just needs a tiny bit of practice and you good to go, never lost an 1v1 with that tactic.
At least in the previous Mount and Blade, if you wanted to make prisoners you had to use blunt weapons. You could even tell your army to only use blunt weapons, and there would be no deaths, no matter the number of enemies.
To increase speed on the world map you could buy horses for your man once you are more financially stable. They will autmatically ride them and give you a nice little speed boost. Also try to always have enough money to pay everyone in your army since if you don't not only will troops flee in battle quickly but they will also start leaving your party by themselves.
Leadership improves only when commanding an army as in faction lords get together army. For your own party you can keep morale high all the time and over time leadership improves. Keep a stack of each food item in the game for extra morale and get your highest stewardship person to be quartermaster.
It's super late, I know, but I believe tournament arrow quivers also are higher capacity, so like 30 shots by default and so having 2 is like 60 shots.
Don't forget to choose a speciality for you and your clan members in the clan menu. As this means they gain exp in that skill and uses that skill for group actions (like healing your squad).
I've tried doing this: getting tons of prisoners and peasants to form an army to seize the empire like the glorious Ming Dynasty... Yeah it didn't work out.
Fun fact shooting someone in the leg can often be more lethal than the chest irl. So many veins and arteries running in the legs makes for a good chance of bleeding out. Hence why the argument of "wounding them in the leg" is probably less kind than people intended when referring to self defense/law enforcement. Imagine it'd be even more likely with arrows. Just seems messier
In the turnaments if they have heavy armor hit them in the head, usualy u can do like 20 dmg in the head instead of 2 in the chest...and you can run around him clockwose while hitting him its a good strategy especially if you dont have a shield..hope it helps
You should try this challenge again some time, after you've spent more time with the game, because I think there are some several ways you could manipulate the game to make this challenge easier. I'm going to try it myself. Seems fun!
Anyone who tries this kind of thing, if you see a red skull when they go down it means they died, using blunt weaponry raises the chance of knocking them out by a lot I think nearly makes it a sure thing. If they are in the game yet a two handed maul from horseback against looters would make some quick progress.
There's a perk either in Archery or Horse Riding that allows you to use any bow you want while mounted. When I tried it the perk wasn't working or there was some other bug causing a problem but hey maybe that's been fixed now. Incidentally, there was a Roguery perk that was supposed to let me recruit bandit parties rather than fighting them but either that perk wasn't working either or I was an idiot and never figured out how to do it properly. One or the other.
From what I've been told the Disciplinarian perk currently doesn't work without using the community patch mod (That fixes a various few perks that don't work in the game, including the horse/bow perk that allows you to use any bow on horseback) Also I'd recommend getting some steppe bandits, they turn into some really nice mounted archers after they're fully upgraded.
