Thanks for sharing the video. I flew on Air India recently and agree fully with you. The hardware definitely needs replacement. I suppose they are working on it and hopefully things should get better soon. Regarding filming out of the 787 window, I suppose it is something with the design of the window itself? I had similar issues filming out of a Qatar Airways 787 window. They seem somewhat scratchy and opaque, compared to windows of other aircraft types. Hope you had a good time in Australia and a nice flight back.

Sorry to see so many issues with your seat! Sadly, Air India has been a much neglected step child for many years. But I feel we are all rooting for it to succeed under Tata. Hope your stopover in Delhi and the onward journey were good.

Travelled Twice in the last month on this route , the service levels of Air India were definitely better than Emirates and couple of other airlines that flyout from the same airport. What I cant get my head around is issues such as screen not working , broken armrests and worn outseats I am sure are known to them and there isnt a big push to get these issues sorted asap. I understand the new management is looking into this but till that time would you let your brand take a beating ? Certain issues are absolutely easily addressable and it needs to be fixed. I am not 100% certain whether they are looking into these at all.

It will take a while for TATA to get this airline together again. Honestly, apart from the cabin, seats etc. The staff either need to be re-trained or let go as well.

Air India is seeing huge changes and improvements. Earlier widespread nepotism and corruption resulted in Air India generating almost no revenue from business class and 1st class. Most of the passengers in these cabins were politically connected, senior government officials or people with connections who booked economy class and travelled in business or first class.
After the privatization these cabins are 90% occupied by paying customers. However my sources and data analysis indicate that Air India is loosing about 10% to legacy nepotism and corruption by legacy staff. I expect this to come down significantly as the Air India is focusing on these losses.

  • @monsterhunt8624

These are old legacy aircraft inherited from Govt. Hundreds of new aircraft have been ordered by Air India. First one has already arrived in India last week. All these old aircraft will be replaced with brand new ones. Tata already runs Vistara airline in INdia, which is the country's best. They also run Taj hotels, which is iconic luxury hotel chain. They will totally transform Air India in another one year

Old legacy aircraft in the sense that they are left-overs from the Govt. which ill-maintained them when it was running Air India and whose interiors are in shabby condition. Tata doesn't want to spend money on them as they are buying brand new aircraft. The first of them arrived last month@@ahmadkidwai3141

Air India has significantly improved. Indian government basically sold a piece of junk and Tata group is doing a wonderful job fixing the airline. The widespread corruption and arrogance of the staff has more or less disappeared.
A recent incident about water leaking from the intentional loose water bottles kept by a group of passengers who were black mailing the airline to upgrade them on next international leg. Unfortunately they were caught by a video taken by another passenger.
You will see these types of events to bring the airline down by vested people who have lost the privileges they had enjoyed when the airline was run by the corrupt civil aviation ministry.

You guys just display the lack of your understanding of what it takes to redo the interiors. That too in an era where there are supply chain issues. Tata's took over this airline during the pandemic. Even some of the most established carriers like Lufthansa have postponed their cabin refurbishing plans because of supply chain issues. The Tata's have committed 400 mill to the effort.

This seat is less than 10 years old, this is obviously an indicator of lack of cleaning and maintenance, as most airlines seats last 10-15 years, and never reach a state like this. Not related to supply chain issues.

There's a big difference between refurbishing and maintaining an aircraft. No matter how old an aircraft is, if it's not taken care of by the passengers as well as the maintenance staff it'll show it's age sooner. There are plenty of airlines with much older planes and still look brand new to this day. There's a reason why most airlines don't send good planes on Indian routes because they know people will damage it.
I am pretty sure even after Tata refurbishes all the aircraft after few years they'll all have the same fate. Indians need to learn it's not their property and need to learn to take good care of it when flying as well as maintenance staff to properly do their job.

I have no intention to defame Air India. Instead, I have very big hope for the Airlines with the new owner the Tata group and I think I mentioned that several times in the video. The food was good and the crew was supernice and motivated and they did a very nice job.
The thing that got me disappointed was the state of the cabin. The new owner has announced an ambitious program to refurbish the cabins but I now understand that things like this takes some time to implement. This together with delivery of new aircrafts makes me having big hopes for Air India and as I said before, I have no interest to slander the airline
