Ultimecia's death animation/explosion is in my opinion the best death animation in all the FFs I've played, the sound of the impending explosion charging up, how everybody braces for it, the negative blur effect while she is going supernova and the loud multiple explosion sounds makes that scene bring chills to my spine to this day.

Beating this game was so satisfying and the final boss battle was so epic, I was on the edge of my seat. Ironically, Squall and Rinoa were the only 2 remaining characters before finally finishing the end boss (Zell got his ass whopped near the end) I remember casting triple of everything because all of my GF’s and other spells were taken away. I don’t think there will be another rpg that will match this experience. I wish I had recorded it 💛💛
Now that I think about it, that would've been cool. In the last battle, when you lose all your other teammates, Seifer and Edea step up to help the last remaining teammate. Either that or Laguna, Ward, and Kiros as well with older looking models (and Laguna's periwinkle blue Hawaiian shirt.)

A dual limit breaker sounds better for a future final fantasy game. Have them get both limit breaker and give a choice to partner up attacks. I wanna see the graphics of the attack
When i first played this game, i was using mods to improve the UI, text fonts and some textures. So then when i was in the final battle for some reason the mods started to break, the letters started mixing up with the original font, sometimes the music would stop working, etc. It literally felt like space and time was breaking lol

Looking at this again after so long, it really is amazing just how much Squaresoft was able to squeeze the technical capabilities of the PS1. I hated this game, but I can't deny that some serious work went into it.

That has been debunked. If you think about it, she pretty much was watching everything, from the host of the sorceress who she would possess, when she would send her consciousness back in time. I keep reading about something Dr. Odine had that became this machine she uses in her present to send herself back in time, but I haven't understood what exactly he created to become that machine. Remember when rinoa wouldn't wake up, after Disc II? That was Ultimecia in her. She could experience everything her host did. Think of it as everything Squall was saying to Rinoa when he was carrying her in Fisherman's Horizon, she was listening to everything too. She also had access to Rinoa's memories too, which would explain how she knew about the ring and it's name(she will name her GF as any name you give the ring). This is how Ultimecia references that awkward dance with Squall and Rinoa from Balamb, in Dissidia too.

I played ff since number 1. This is the game that killed it. Never beat the lion with wings. Guess never getting doom train at the beginning via card game was the key. Only fame I got to level 99, and then boss would let me fight 20 min, then one shot my team as he was 99. I didn't want to start over so left it uncompleted.
i remember beaing this with just squall left after she killed everyone and absorbed them and i ran out off healing items lol was just constant limit spams till i managed to win lol

Edea can't use The End, Seifer is only a party member in the first part of the Dollet siege from Disc 1 (which is right at the beginning of the game after the Ifrit fight, who is the first boss), and Edea is only a party member while the party is travelling to Esthar (both to help Rinoa, who goes unconscious after the fight with an Ultimecia-possessed Edea in Disc 2, and for Edea to get rid of the sorceress powers that Ultimecia gave to her, as shown after you defeat the latter in Disc 4)
This really was an underrated game.I admit when I first played it I loved disc 1,but then by the end of disc 2 the story was getting a bit to confusing and all over the place-squall and the main cast actually grew up together as kids but didnt remember it or had amnesia-ish cause there summons they use in combat has a random ass side effect of empowering them but also washing some of there older memories away? I mean guess thats not bad its just ultra random as hell lol,but after that first playthrough and then a couple more playthroughs while its not perfect and still a bit messy at times the story really is overall very good and fun,and there friendship is shown pretty well throughout the game,Squall was definately a Cloud clone in many ways of his personality traits,but while thats a bit generic it still makes him likable enough and he warmed up to his friends as the game went on and it showed,so anyways Story i give it a solid 8 out of 10,a bit to ambitious for its own good at times but overall still better story then most games in FF series or just period in all video game history,like compared to Ff 9 or 10 I really hated 10s story ,8 was an absolute masterpiece,Graphics at the time were very good for what they were going for,basically more realistic approach then 7 had,which led to lower resolution overall then 7 had at times-that Gurad shading technique part 7 had was the shit-but a more realistic approach and for the time the Graphics were solid and still are fun and likeable today as well, sound as usual Music maybe not the best in the series but has more then enough classics thatl be rememberd all time so sound/Music like 9 out of 10, gameplay/combat the magic junction system was obviously flawed 3 hours of gameplay likely went into drawing magic repeteadly from enemies alone,but putting magic onto your stats to boost your fighting abilities/skills was pretty interesting, kinda overlpy complex and arguably not as rewarding or as unique as it should be given its complexity,but its still a unique cool rare system that hasnt been done at all since,and led to some pretty awesome fight /skill attribute/combinations/defensive specialtiies and etc.Limit breaks as usual were fantastic 100 percent,not a bad limit break in the mix really from any character,and the Characters were also pretty good,Squall is likeable enough and warms up to you over time,but he really was a straight up Cloud clone personality trait wise,and the supporting cast were for the most part solid even the more less interesting/side characters like Selfie and Quistis were more then good enough and likeable enough to have around,and Irvine is awesome.About the only criticisms I have of the game would be that I wish the story coulda been jus ta bit more refined/polished, it had all these great elements ideas and lore but just kinda all meshed together in a big hodgepodge of randomness lol,but it was cool though just hard to follow and sort of random as hell at times,the Boss battles were also pretty great-but the weird decision to not get any fight exp from boss battles was pretty strange decision to make,though ultimately not a big deal,and the only other crticism I have would be that the world while overall cool and felt connected and well written coulda used a couple or few more at least minor/mid level towns/cities/loactions,seems like there was basically only like 2 major cities in the entire game,but overall fantastic epic game very underrated and top 3-5 in the entire series easily.They need to return to the story styles and feel of games like these,15 seemed like it had potential and is great and 1000 times better then that 13 abomination,but still its like they have lost something since 7-8,ah well still a great series and can always replay 8 on a pc with somewhat better graphics .so sound 9 out of 10,graphics, 8 out of 10,gameplay 8 out of 10,story 9 out of 10.overall score,9 out of 10.
And the awesome implementation of being able to play in flashbacks was a really fricking awesome part of the game, also very rare and unique and hasn't been done since anything like that really,it was surprising that FF 8 really only had 6 major characters to play as/have on your team as far as permanent members go,most of the other ff games have a minimum of 6 to as many as 6-10-15-20+,though modern ff games have seemed to have an average of around 9 main playable /team characters to choose from/use, but 8 only had the major 6,but that was obviously because they added the badass flashback sequences where we got to play as Laguna and Kiros and Ward, and then temporarily have Edea on your team when she wasn't possessed and was her good self again, which was cool her limit break is the best,but was short-term kinda.

couldnt have, the end shows edea and cid together and it shows rinoa pointing at the shooting star while facing squall, it later shows the same scene from their perspective. Squall is much alive
As far as I know, the only way to get Seifer or Edea for the final battle is to use a Gameshark (or similar cheating device). (EDIT: But I've only played the PS1 version. Maybe other versions make it easier.)

I mean guess thats not bad its just ultra random as hell lol,but after that first playthrough and then a couple more playthroughs while its not perfect and still a bit messy at times the story really is overall very good and fun,and there friendship is shown pretty well throughout the game,Squall was definately a Cloud clone in many ways of his personality traits,but while thats a bit generic it still makes him likable enough and he warmed up to his friends as the game went on and it showed,so anyways Story i give it a solid 8 out of 10,a bit to ambitious for its own good at times but overall still better story then most games in FF series or just period in all video game history,like compared to Ff 9 or 10 I really hated 10s story ,8 was an absolute masterpiece,Graphics at the time were very good for what they were going for,basically more realistic approach then 7 had,which led to lower resolution overall then 7 had at times-that Gurad shading technique part 7 had was the shit-but a more realistic approach and for the time the Graphics were solid and still are fun and likeable today as well, sound as usual Music maybe not the best in the series but has more then enough classics thatl be rememberd all time so sound/Music like 9 out of 10, gameplay/combat the magic junction system was obviously flawed 3 hours of gameplay likely went into drawing magic repeteadly from enemies alone,but putting magic onto your stats to boost your fighting abilities/skills was pretty interesting, kinda overlpy complex and arguably not as rewarding or as unique as it should be given its complexity,but its still a unique cool rare system that hasnt been done at all since,and led to some pretty awesome fight /skill attribute/combinations/defensive specialtiies and etc.Limit breaks as usual were fantastic 100 percent,not a bad limit break in the mix really from any character,and the Characters were also pretty good,Squall is likeable enough and warms up to you over time,but he really was a straight up Cloud clone personality trait wise,and the supporting cast were for the most part solid even the more less interesting/side characters like Selfie and Quistis were more then good enough and likeable enough to have around,and Irvine is awesome.About the only criticisms I have of the game would be that I wish the story coulda been jus ta bit more refined/polished, it had all these great elements ideas and lore but just kinda all meshed together in a big hodgepodge of randomness lol,but it was cool though just hard to follow and sort of random as hell at times,the Boss battles were also pretty great-but the weird decision to not get any fight exp from boss battles was pretty strange decision to make,though ultimately not a big deal,and the only other crticism I have would be that the world while overall cool and felt connected and well written coulda used a couple or few more at least minor/mid level towns/cities/loactions,seems like there was basically only like 2 major cities in the entire game,but overall fantastic epic game very underrated and top 3-5 in the entire series easily.They need to return to the story styles and feel of games like these,15 seemed like it had potential and is great and 1000 times better then that 13 abomination,but still its like they have lost something since 7-8,ah well still a great series and can always replay 8 on a pc with somewhat better graphics .so sound 9 out of 10,graphics, 8 out of 10,gameplay 8 out of 10,story 9 out of 10.overall score,9 out of 10.
And the awesome implementation of being able to play in flashbacks was a really fricking awesome part of the game, also very rare and unique and hasn't been done since anything like that really,it was surprising that FF 8 really only had 6 major characters to play as/have on your team as far as permanent members go,most of the other ff games have a minimum of 6 to as many as 6-10-15-20+,though modern ff games have seemed to have an average of around 9 main playable /team characters to choose from/use, but 8 only had the major 6,but that was obviously because they added the badass flashback sequences where we got to play as Laguna and Kiros and Ward, and then temporarily have Edea on your team when she wasn't possessed and was her good self again, which was cool her limit break is the best,but was short-term kinda.

cody holden FF7 was pretty boring, imo. I couldn't get into it. But then again I'm not the biggest FF fan, having only completed a handful of them. Maybe I'll finally get into it with the remaster. Haven't attempted 7 since childhood.
I would say I do hate the bandwagon that 7 has because I don't understand how it has it. maybe because it was the first proper 3D FF, I dunno. For the record... FFVIII is my favourite and always will be. Ive played FFVII and yes it was a great game but IMO its NOWHERE near as good as FFVIII....
If they fix some elements of the story, it can be a strong game for a remake.

couldnt have, the end shows edea and cid together and it shows rinoa pointing at the shooting star while facing squall, it later shows the same scene from their perspective. Squall is much alive

As far as I know, the only way to get Seifer or Edea for the final battle is to use a Gameshark (or similar cheating device). (EDIT: But I've only played the PS1 version. Maybe other versions make it easier.)
