For all those ‘bitchin’ on price…. I am in Australia and have zero affiliation. I AM a Builder with 35 years experience… I have all the knowledge, tools and workshop needed to build a unit like this. Firstly, Plywood- the days of cheap, light, stable plywood are looong gone! You can buy cheap materials and you get exactly that- ‘cheap’. To buy 1 or 2 sheets of quality, reliable light plywood will cost me around $200- per sheet. Hardware- good reliable piano hinges… are NOT ‘cheap’. Try getting that aluminium frame- custom made- and see what it costs you! The time required in planning and development…. Essential for seamless deployment of the unit… Nope, I’d rather buy the unit… and enjoy all that glorious time I saved; out in the Bush!

It would also be nice if you could access the drawer or personal storage underneath from the inside of the vehicle too, so that when you are inside and all cozy you don't have to go back outside and open the trunk to get something out of storage that you may want. Maybe you can make it so the bed panel can lift from the top to access the contents underneath while inside? Other than that inside access issue, this is a really amazing system!
A collapsible ladder and some CAD cut plywood should not be 800 dollars. 200-300 max or I can just buy an exped mattress and save 500. Great idea. Just priced way outside the market in my opinion.
@@cj57 I had a carpenter friend made one for my RAV4. I paid him arms length for his time and I I paid for the materials. It was still cheaper than the product here.
Why do people ALWAYS, always have to put people down for the price, as for knock offs, look at Roadloft,, Van Packers, Freeway which has warehouses in the U.S. (all are from Montreal coincidentally, wonder if the three got together and didn’t get along and went their separate ways,) or River Leaf which I am partial to as it’s made in the U.S. and see if it’s so bad.) Yes, it can be done cheaper if you are like the poster with who has a carpenter friend (not everyone does) or like in many You tube videos, a no build with just a mattress in the back, and NO platforms (I do know why there is so much talk about cheapness, you ARE cheap if you camp in a minivan. ) And maybe the builder who is providing JOBS doesn’t want to hire people at McDonald wages and give benefits so yeah, it costs more.
@evangewho56 I wasn't putting the company down. I was just surprised how pricey it was. For a Canadian buyer, by the time it gets here, with the exchange rate and the custom duties added, it would be really steep.
I like the design. Would be nice to have, and doesn’t look hugely difficult to add, the capability to raise one or two of the sections at the head end so one could have a sort of lounge chair before flattening the bed out for sleep.

7:47 I am hoping that this young man is getting fair compensation for his efforts in selling this product. I say this because, I have seen MANY homeless people video's and it seems that MOST of them have better quality footwear than this young man does. I 🙏🏻 that he has already gotten a pay increase because people have commented that the price is WAAAYYY more expensive than the product is worth. If he owns the shop, then good for him, but I still feel that he should be wearing supportive, PROTECTIVE footwear working in a shop. I grew up working in a machine shop and good shoes were imperative before entering the work area. Thank you for taking my comment into consideration. 🙏🏻 Yes, I AM an elderly 60 year old 👵 woman. 😅

People always try to take advantage of a situation. Same thing happened with tiny homes. The moment people find a more affordable way to live independently, if not out of necessity, it becomes popular and everything about it becomes expensive. It’s disgusting. If everyone marked things up a reasonable amount for the cost to make it we would all be able to live better. Instead the model is always make it as inexpensively as possible and charge people as much as possible.

I setup my minivan with 2 beds all the time. I still have room in the minivan for the important things. I also use a Thule rooftop cargo carrier and sometimes a trailer hitch cargo carrier too. I have more storage than I can even use. Cheers!

If you set up 2 beds you have no room for storage.
