- Listen and learn from Rabbi Isaac's new Dvar Torah teaching on the 11th Torah Parashah Vayigash (וַיִּגַּשׁ), Hebrew for “and he drew near” and the first word of the parashah from Genesis 44:18-47:27 referring to how Judah drew near to Yoseph to interceed on behalf of Benyamin.
In this parashah, we see the reoccurring theme of intercession as Judah intercedes on behalf of his brother Benjamin, and then Joseph reveals himself to his brothers and then intercedes to Pharaoh for land in Goshen for his family coming from Canaan. Jacob comes down to Egypt, and Joseph’s administration of Egypt saves lives but transforms all the Egyptians into bondmen.
So the main themes we see in Vayigash are intercession and unification… pointing to not only the need to seek unification with our brothers but also to God in total Oneness!

I read this Parshat reading earlier on the Shabbat but while cleaning up tonight's dishes and listening to you talking it hit me like a ton of bricks. Genesis 26:5 says, "Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws." Which means there had to be a knowledge of God's laws passed down orally from the beginning to the righteous Patriarchs long before they were ever written at Sinai. I need a glossary of terms to understand some of these non English words you are saying. Like what is a midrash?
Shalom brother welcome... these few terms introduced in the videos are hebrew to help the student of the word understand more of Jewish terminology and thinking. A midrash is a discussion on the topic, i.e. an “exposition” or “investigation” used in two senses. On the one hand, it refers to a mode of biblical interpretation prominent in Jewish study and literature; on the other, it refers to a separate body of ancient commentaries on the Torah using this interpretative mode covering the last two thousand years. We hope that understanding these hebrew words introduced in the video teachings help people in their studies understand Jewish thinking better and thus build more unity between Christians and Jews. yes people today are slaves to a false system and don't even know it. If people are not prepared for the tough times ahead they will sell themselves once again (the mark of the beast) just to buy food... thus we see a dual prophetic application we need to ponder and be prepared for.
