  • Our Shoftim (שֹׁפְטִים‎) parashah this week from Deuteronomy 16:18 - 21:9 provides a kind of constitution for Israel- and a basic societal structure for all the descendants of Israel - The parashah sets out rules for judges, officers, kings, Levites, prophets, cities of refuge, witnesses, war, and unsolved murder victims.
    Shoftim is the 48th Torah Parashah Study - and means "Judges" in Hebrew and covers how Moses instructs the people of Israel to appoint judges and law enforcement officers in every city. “Justice, justice shall you pursue,” he commands them, and you must administer it without corruption or favoritism. Crimes must be meticulously investigated and evidence thoroughly examined-a minimum of two credible witnesses is required for conviction and punishment. In every generation, says Moses, there will be those entrusted with the task of interpreting and applying the laws of the Torah. “According to the law that they will teach you, and the judgment they will instruct you, you shall do; you shall not turn away from the thing that they say to you, to the right nor to the left.”

    And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.
    And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.
    But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me
    And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?
    And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased.
    Matthew 14:28-32
    No matter how bad it looks to you,always focus on the Lord.
    Only when you focus on the storm will you then start to sink.
    All storms are created by The LORD to help you learn to focus.

    You know the idiom, "throw the book at him"? The book referred to is the Bible, and yes the Old Testament as well as the new. It was the foundation for a moral people governing themselves... i.e., a Republican form of government... which is what the American States were originally set up to be.

    Question does Torah allow for human sacrifice as an atonement for sin at passover, which has nothing to do with sin atonement that should be done at the day of atonement

    • @AssemblyofCalledOutBelievers
      @AssemblyofCalledOutBelievers  Год назад +2

      Human sacrifice the Torah does not promote... but it is a Jewish concept that he who does not suffer and die for his own sin suffers and dies atones for the sins of others. Until this day the practice of Orthodox Jews going to the tomb of the patriarchs in order to extricate virtue from them persists from this concept. Midrash Rabah mentions, 'Rabbi Chia Bar Abba said, 'The sons of Aaron died on the first of Nissan. Why is their death mentioned in connection with the day of atonement? This is to teach you that just as the day of atonement brings atonement, so to, the death of the righteous brings atonement.

      @@AjNotsri You are making an assumption scripture doesn't say the passover lamb was a peace offering you apparently misunderstand the whole Ideology behind the passover Anyone who thinks that a man can pay for another man's sin has a total misunderstanding of Torah, torah says you take personal responsibility not divert personal responsibility to a man God, But what am I talking about who don't like eating human flesh and drinking human blood.

    How do we recognize a false prophet?because in dvarim 13 we read that a false prophet might come and whatever dream or vision come to pass but then tells us to follow other mighty ones we did not know. Isn't this a bit true with the Jesus they preach that says we can eat any food and there is no more Torah. This make it difficult for our Judah to recognize they brother Joseph. Is there still a Sanhedrin today? Who do we consult in matters of Torah t
    in our days and how would we know that they judgments is correct.? What is the meaning of rightly dividing the word? Thank you.🇮🇱🇿🇦🤗

    A few questions
    Q1. Did the king have to make one copy of the Torah, or two. Other translations read as one. My Torah app gives this:
    Shoftim 17.18
    And it will be, when he sits upon his royal throne, that he shall write for himself two copies of this Torah on a scroll from [that Torah which is] before the Levitic kohanim.
    וְהָיָה כְשִׁבְתּוֹ עַל כִּסֵּא מַמְלַכְתּוֹ וְכָתַב לוֹ אֶת-מִשְׁנֵה הַתּוֹרָה הַזֹּאת עַל-סֵפֶר מִלִּפְנֵי הַכֹּהֲנִים הַלְוִיִּם
    “And it shall be, when he sitteth upon the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write him a copy of this law in a book, out of that which is before the priests the Levites.” (Deuteronomy 17.18, JPS)
    2. Why is a heifer used ? Deut 21.1-9
    2a. Why must its neck be broken?
    2b. Why in rough valley deu 21.14?
    2c. How was the neck to be broken?
    2d. Is there a connection to the red heifer?

    • @AssemblyofCalledOutBelievers
      @AssemblyofCalledOutBelievers  Год назад

      One copy, as the text reads "he shall write him a mishneh hatorah hazot (a copy of this torah) in a sefer".
      In regards to the red heifer there were only nine (Par. 3:5) of these ever burned throughout history from the time the instruction was given to Moshe and Israel, and the tenth and last it is said will be prepared by the Messiah (Yad, Parah Adummah 3:4). Although it was impossible to prepare the ashes of the red heifer after the destruction of the Temple, its use did not cease with the destruction, since there was still a supply of the ashes. As late as the amoraic period, those who had become ritually unclean through contact with the dead still used to cleanse themselves with it (see Nid. 6b, Y. Gilat, Mishnato shel R. Eliezer b. Hyrcanus (1968), 252; Neusner (1987), 146ff.; and Sussmann, 306-16). Several homiletical interpretations of the red heifer are given, one being that it was to atone for the sin of the golden calf, so that the mother - the red heifer - should purify the defilement caused by her offspring, the golden calf (PR 14:65a and see the whole chapter). Nevertheless, the rabbis of the talmudic period never really solved these problems (Urbach).

      Perhaps these heifers are representative of the disciples of Jesus and the red heifer is representative of Jesus? Jesus does refer to himself in the female gender as a hen.

    • @SeanRhoadesChristopher
      @SeanRhoadesChristopher Год назад

      The fact that the nation of Israel was to be a nation of priests, we can connect the heifer with the priesthood that was to appear. Let us assume that the elders and leaders of the nearby cities who appear at the site represent those who repent and follow Christ in obedience, then let us compare and contrast this with kings and rulers of armies who do not follow Christ. They would represent the leaders who did not preform the ceremony. We see an example of this in the book of judges. See Judges 19:1-21:25. Then we can say that those found dead are the saints secretly killed such as Abel by his brother Cain. Moreover we can say that those leaders who came where truly innocent of any wrong.
      Deuteronomy 21:4-8 (KJV)
      4 And the elders of that city shall bring down the heifer unto a rough valley, which is neither eared nor sown, and shall strike off the heifer's neck there in the valley:
      5 And the priests the sons of Levi shall come near; for them the LORD thy God hath chosen to minister unto him, and to bless in the name of the LORD; and by their word shall every controversy and every stroke be tried:
      6 And all the elders of that city, that are next unto the slain man, shall wash their hands over the heifer that is beheaded in the valley:
      7 And they shall answer and say, Our hands have not shed this blood, neither have our eyes seen it.
      8 Be merciful, O LORD, unto thy people Israel, whom thou hast redeemed, and lay not innocent blood unto thy people of Israel's charge. And the blood shall be forgiven them.
      Revelation 18:24 (KJV)
      24 And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.
      Revelation 19:19 (KJV)
      19 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.
      Revelation 20:4-6 (KJV)
      4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
      5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
      6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

    isn't just what you do but what you don't do. Not just what you did but how you did it. Not just what you said but how you said it. Love is so simple yet the simple make it so hard. Love Is full of knowledge yet even the smart don't get it. Love doesn't cost a fortune yet fortunes are spent trying to gain it. Love does demand of you yet you are not willing to sacrifice for it. Those who only seek what love can give and do for them, do nothing for love and others and in such selfish pursuit, in turn rob themselves of love's best gift. Make this year the year you seek to sow love and not just reap it. Be love and not just think it. Do love and not just say it. Talk love and just don't fake it. Seek love and just don't chase it. Embrace it but don't enslave it, share it but don't dare boast in it. Enjoy it but don't abuse it. Free it and watch it come back. Invest in it and watch it pay back. Wash your life in it, light your darkness with it, eat your food with it conduct your business with it and above all else Serve God in it. For whatever love is and is not, it's all of, for and From Him. He is LOVE! "
