Last January while i was in Vegas for CES, someone knocked my beloved hoe off of her life support. Usually she is good for about 4-5 days tops when not hooked up to the wall. I have 11 year old batteries under the bottom...and they have for sure taken abuse but as long as they were on their intellicharger by the end of the evening they did fine. This time though, i came home to about 2 volts. She has been sitting ever since. The shop is a VERY busy place so it is easy to ignore it and let it collect dust. But i couldn't take it anymore! Join me on this journey to revive my Hoe! The ORIGINAL hoe! The hoe that made you want a hoe for yourself!
Today i unboxed and fabbed up the bracket for my new Mechman 400a Alternators. It's ALMOST done! Just need a longer belt! What is a 6 Phase Alternator A standard alternator is generally 3 phase. This means that there are three “legs” of the stator that fire in succession as the alternator spins, A-B-C-A-B-C-A-B-C producing alternating current.
6 phase alternators have two 3 phase stators inside the alternator that are slightly out of phase of one another. The two stators fire in succession like this: A-a-B-b-C-c (the second stator is in lower case) Because they are slightly out of phase with one another, there is a cancellation of electromagnetic harmonics that makes the alternator run more smoothly and more efficiently. This allows for cooler operation, more output from a smaller overall housing, and MUCH better durability.
The rectifiers turns the AC current coming out of the stator into DC current. DC current is what is used in an automobile. By passing trough the diodes, half of the AC current is burned off in the form of heat as it is “rectified” into DC current. That heat is what eventually kills alternators. By having (2) rectifier plates, there is much more surface area to dissipate the heat. This is especially important in a high output alternator- as the more amperage the alternator makes, the more heat is generated. Also, by having (12) or (16) diodes (depending on which 6 phase alternator you are talking about) instead of just (6) or (8) diodes in a 3 phase alternator, the heat and electrical load can be distributed more evenly throughout the rear of the alternator housing.

I'm running a single 300 Hi-Amp alternator from "Ohio Generator", it made a huge difference in my modest 1,800-watt dual battery system. Everything runs better through. The car, the system's performance. It may be hard for some to make that final jump, but so worth it in the end. Just a comment from a fella on the shallow end of the pool in this hobby. Your system, I love it!

I bought a Mechman for my Acura, after six months it broke, shipped it back to them,they received it and left the alternator on the shelf for two months,once I called for update,they forgot they had it,I was mad as hell,I will never buy from them,now I have Mike Singer.Good luck with that Steve.

AWESOME! I have a Mechman 400 that's going in my 2000 Silverado to run my audio system and a 240 amp to run the electrical.
I would love to see the engine bay get dressed up a bit. Laser etched metal reservoir tanks? Some pretty accents to compliment those pretty alts. Great content as always.

my kia charges at 14.4-.14.1 but when im driving while full tilting I see the voltage spikes in the 15s sucks when the voltage is controlled by the pcm usually have to turn on the ac or headlight for it to charge in the 14s other wise it sits in the 12s

Steve I just talked to mechman about going with 4 500’s and the there not making them after this order there filling also he recommended me not using for alternators on a six rib pulley how dose your run and drive ?? Any issues
