  • In this video, the crew starts the paint & body on the 68 Mustang. This build will take heavy inspiration from the old Steve McQueen "Bullitt" Mustang. It will sit on a Roadster Shop "Spec" chassis with Baer 6-piston brakes on all four corners. It'll wear “Highland Green” paint and have "Challenger" Schott Wheels to keep that torque thrust vibe. And to top it off, it'll be getting a 6-speed Tremec manual and a brand new 5.2L "Aluminator" V8 making 580hp at 7,800 rpm! We'll have more videos on this one as it moves farther along in the build process. Stay tuned!

    Before this channel, I always wondered how these custom builds could be so expensive. I totally get it now. I don't know much about cars, but I love watching artists at work.

    How doesn’t your painter get mesmerised by the magic he’s performing in front of him And then mess the rest up 🤷‍♂️ there’s a lot of skill in that shop, right through every step.

    I went to school in the early 80s to learn bodywork and nothing can be more difficult or rewarding than doing all of this correctly. Not a lot of young people are going to want to work this hard anymore. This is an art and you never stop learning always advances with new and better techniques.

    I love sanding a car, getting it ready for paint; I just put in my ear buds, grab my block, get in the zone, then ROCK OUT WITH MY BLOCK OUT!

      @@dcooper8588 Thanks! Give us a call at (314) 567-4200 and ask for Chris, he can give you a timeframe and work out an estimate for the refinish. Fair warning, we're booked out quite a bit and will most likely not be able to schedule you in for this winter.

    Is that sanding blocks with Duct tape on them at 3:57 for better block control, or do they sell blocks like that?

    • @ClassicCarStudio
      @ClassicCarStudio  10 месяцев назад +2

      Yeah, the guys make those handles out of duct tape or gorilla tape. Not sure anyone sells anything like that.

    I see that you start off wet sanding at 800 what grit is final wet sanding before polish

      Curious as well. My suspicion is that it went to 2k or 3k depending on what they started with on buffing.

    • @ouloupz4410
      @ouloupz4410 10 месяцев назад +2

      ye for finish, but you have to go deep with 800 and finish on 8000 or 6000, when you have 5 coat of clear u can go 800 1500 2K 3K 8K @@SupercarSeany

    • @ClassicCarStudio
      @ClassicCarStudio  10 месяцев назад +1

      Usually we’ll be at either 3000, 5000, or 8000 before we start polishing. It just depends on how smooth of finish the customer wants. For example, we won’t typically go this high for a factory correct finish on a factory restoration.
