- Today we're looking at the new MOOG MARIANA. I'm excited to show you how good it sounds, @MoogSynthesizers really did a good job. Probably the best sounding synth plugin for bass sounds right now.

Probably the best sounding VST for bass sounds right now. Change my mind! loll And by the way, when I say ''first synth plugin'' I wasn't talking about the apps obviously. 🙂
Yeah it sounds great. It's not the first Moog VST but it does sound great. Very hardware like. Someone at Moog has good ears or they hired someone as a consultant with good ears. It's funny though you can hear the filters aren't ZDF filters. Not as nice as say something like Diva but the oscillators, the core sound of the thing, is closer to hardware and nicer than Diva in that sense. Interesting how different developers focus on different areas. I have a Moog Sub37, Grandmother and Matriarch so I won't be buying the VST but I'm really impressed. It really does take you into that hardware realm.
@@Screaming-Trees Yeah 100% idk If it's true but I read that the Mariana was supposed to be the software of an hardware synth that never came out. Maybe that's why it does feel like hardware.
I'm looking at that Sub 37 for months now...One day I'll press the cart button. haha
I have 3 MOOG plugs on my MAC
MODELD, model 15 and…the incredible ANIIMOIG Z.
But, you’re right in that it’s the First under new ownership .
I heard most of the employees got let go. I hope that’s NOT correct.
Anyway, GEEAT DEMO and food show! I had dismissed this one, cuz I recent memories of my Taurus Pedals. So THANKS for showing me how Expanded this synth is!
Mark
@@Tonepusher Haha nice. I would say maybe Grandmother is a better choice. If budget is a concern or just overall. Such a great sounding synth for not a lot of money and very, very flexible. I would a bit like baby bear's porridge. Just right. Right amount of features and still minimalist leaning.
@@Screaming-Trees There's a couple Grandmother for sale near my place...I might check that out too then haha I know they sound great but never tried one. You got me curious now, damnnn haha Sub 25+grandmother then? haha 🥲
THIS - an example of how the GOOD AD of the VST plugin should be presented on the RUclips! Thank you!
haha thanks man :)
Wow was für ein Song Mega geil schade so kurz 👌🥰
thanks man :)
Sick!
thanks 🤘🏻😊
Ooooh! Interesting! Since I'm also a big fan of metal and synths, this channel and plugin could be very interesting! I own the Minitaur, but having a plugin with a similar vibe, would be interesting! Thanks for this cool demo!
thanks man! 🤘🏻 Not enough synth/metal on youtube!! haha Does the Minitaur sound good? Sometimes I feel like buying one 🤔 hehe
@@Tonepusher I think it's really nice and beefy! Could be that I just want to hear it, but it sounds richer than a plugin.
If you're considering buying one, look into the Sirin too (2nd hand) if you're into leads. But having Cubase as my DAW too, any mono synth, whatever the range, you can quickly sample it and turn it into whatever synth you want it to be! Here's a video I made years ago where you can nicely hear how beefy it is (at the end) ruclips.net/video/Hw-J8EfQmEc/видео.htmlsi=d4udoEjeSN27OhID
@@DEADLINETV Nice, I love the bass sound at the end of your video. I does sounds beefy and rich...Now I want one too haha
Yeah I should sample my synths too haha There's not enough time in a day!
@@Tonepusher For music making, just sample them on the go. But I hear you, and with so many good VST's, emulations and sample packs out there, why should you.
Nice video! Subscribed!!
thanks man! 🙏
...looking forward to your presets on this one! :) Get on it!
Haha well, at this point I think I have to do it now 😂 What type of music or you into?
@@Tonepusher ...good old ebm and old 90's industrial. Thats my game.
@@_hardpot Amen haha
@@Tonepusher Please do a Doom or Argent Metal preset pack using this synth. Id buy them instantly.
Would also be cool if you included some of the moogerfooger FXs in some of the presets as well
@@cstm1080 I like that idea a lot haha Monday morning I'm on it
Love this one, there are another 2 Moog plugins on Mac, Model D and Modular that you can run inside your DAW.
Yeah I forgot to mention that I'm on PC and always been so that was new to me haha But yeah I love that synth! A bit heavy on the CPU though! But for bass sounds it's probably my go to right now.
Yup - shame they're only for Mac. I have them and work with the Model D a lot.
This synth looks beautiful. I especially like the modulation graphics and it sounds great.
It's not Moog's first plugin but it is the first for the PC.
Yeah one of the best interface that there is right now. Veeeery easy to use 👌🏻
indeed. iOS users have been blessed by moog for quite a while now, with Model D, Model 15 and Animoog 1 and 2.
Looking forward to soon getting Mariana and the Moogerfooger plugins on iPad.
I think this plugin will blow up moog sales...very good strategy and price. 💪🏼
haha 100% I think they should've done that before. That's the plugin we didn't know we needed lol
@@Tonepusher, yeap...I will give it a try...😂 😂 😂
@@florinchelniciuc831 You should! hehe
The first moog plug in was the model D (on iPad, on Mac m1)
Yeah I know, I forgot to say that it was on PC :)
Animoog was released before Model D I think ... So Animoog was the first ...
awesome! was the intro tune made with it?
no, just the end song! BUT I'm pretty sure it can sound like the intro too hehe
It sounds good.... too good! Seriously.
100% !
I feel Eisbrecher vibe 😀 Cool stuff, definitely worth trying!
yeah man I love Eisbrecher. First album is a claaassic 🤘
@@Tonepusher absolutely, same here, the second album was also good enough, but comparing to the latest ones... the band has had better times 😀
@@maximkazakov6662 hahaha yeah well now it's more guitar oriented and the production is insane which is cool too but I feel like all the songs sounds the same. Creatively speaking the first albums were much better.
@@Tonepusher thanks god, I thought I was the only one who stopped distinguishing their latest songs from each other... Here it is worth mentioning such a band as Unheilig, the latest albums/songs also ceased to differ from each other, but at least the guy closed the project at the peak of its popularity, which in my opinion is much better than the thinghs that happen with Eisbrecher now.
@@maximkazakov6662 yeah 100%... Henning Verlage is behind that project I think. Great producer, he knows what he's doing hehe But sometimes bands fall into the ''let's do what's work'' instead of creating which is something I can understand too as we all need to put food on the table! haha But yeah Unheilig 2008 album is soooo good. Great choruses.
Any plans on partnership with Splice for Tonepusher?
Not really, tried in the past, never got an answer back. I'd be open to discuss with them :)
when I first heard a Mariana Demo I was "meh" but now I am impressed
haha thanks man, yeah I feel like all the demos on youtube sounds the same 🤷🏻♂️ It's cool to hear something different!
Can it play closer by NIN
haha well it can play whatever you want!
whats the name of the preset at 3:18?
It's called ''Pressure Bass''
I don’t think it is the first, all the iOS AUv3 work on M1 mac
Yeah I should've clarified! hehe I was too excited to install that on my pc 😬 haha
Diva: exists
I agree, DIVA also sounds great! But it's getting old too. At some point the king has to be replaced! haha
This synth is like highlander. There can only be one.
hahaha
I really like the song you created! I definitely don't think this is the best sounding VST synth though.
U-he Diva was released 10 years ago and sounds arguably better, The Legend (Synapse Audio) and even Invader 2 (E-Phonic) sound about the same. Then there's Serum, Vital, Hive 2 etc. Which are different beasts altogether.
Thanks man hehe
100% agree with you. It's been years since I used Diva though. But tbh I think the filter and low-end of the Mariana are sooolid haha I should get back to Diva and test that out 🤔
@@Tonepusher For sure man! I think with Diva some of the 3rd party sound banks really show it's true potential. Check out Night Time Diva (By Swan Audio I think?). I sounds absolutely incredible for retro analog sounds.
@synthdrift wow I just listened to it, great presets! I think I'll make some packs too hehe 🤘
I have to agree that U-He Diva pretty much has the crown. It may be 10 years old, but it is also modeled after synths that are much older than that which is timeless. I can't see trying to improve something that really needs no improvement as far as sound modeling goes.
@@unisynmusic In the end it's a matter of taste. But it's true that Diva sounds insanely good in general. However, for guys that are into ''darker'' music, it wouldn't be my first pick.
I guess I’m old .. but distortion is something kinda nobody wanted when I started out with my 1st synth (Minimoog) in the late 70’s. Fortunately you can get classic ‘clean’ Moog style bass on this. I still own the same Minimoog I’ve had for years now and it just literally collects dust and looks cool sitting in the corner of the family room. Plugins do the same job .. and I don’t have to hassle flipping the darn thing over .. ripping off the bottom cover .. and clean the gold contact rods every 3 weeks (that gets old when you get old ya know) 🙄
Haha yeah distortion is the new cool thing
But the original Minimoog has something in the sound that plugins don't have, don't you think? But you're right it's SO much easier to make music with plugins hehe
wow! Proud owner now. Preset name at 1:57 ? Thx!
It's a sound that I made seconds before recording! I guess I should make a preset bank? haha
💪@@Tonepusheryes!😁
@@mikrosajt haha what genre of music you're into?
All kind of Electronic music in minor is inspiration 😁 But lately really into the soundscapes of the melodic techno genre. To name on artist: Stephan Bodzin. Also various artists on the Afterlife label.
YES PLEASE - something aggressive!@@Tonepusher
Everybody will buy one. Trick will be making it your own.
Yeah, pretty much any synth can sound like YOU want it to sound.
0:20 - 1:10 This is sarcasm, right? Right?
This plugin is a performance killer.... Not usable for me by 32gb ram.
Yeah...I know, imo it's probably the only big downside. This and the Filter Envelope on a different page then the LP and HP filters.
Dr Robert A Moog's surname is pronounced like "Mogue" so that it rhymes with "Vogue", not so that it rhymes with "Moon".
C unit award goes to you pal. Get a life
Even the great man himself Bob, didn't mind how it was pronounced so why do you?
Another groundbreaking soft synth?
haha well, I sense sarcasm here? haha not groundbreaking, but I think it fills a hole in the market for sure. My favorite synth for bass sounds right now tbh.
Sounds great, then sound card chokes / cpu dies, maybe its a bit ahead of its time
hahaha yeah it's heavy af compared to other softwares
I'm getting 2% per instance on my 16gb I7 laptop.
I stopped the video when the guy said "it even has it's own filter" hahahahaha ridiculous
It's rare that a synth has a SEPERATE filter dedicated to the sub osc my friend. Most of the time it's going through the main filter OR straight out.
FAT‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️🏆🍺
haha yeah it's impressive
Friend, Moog is pronounced like vogue. It’s a new soft synth that sounds good but not the best sounding by any measurement other than your opinion.
That's why there's a question mark :) But I do think it's one of the best i've heard though. And your right, this is only my opinion 🤷🏻♂️ hehe
I don’t see a question mark in the title - so it comes across as a rather bold statement… if you don’t use saturator, this synth is a wet noodle. All the sonic power (in this synth design) comes from it - sadly it’s distorted a bit too much to sound “good” to me. But it can sound in your face impressive for sure.
Yeah, in America it may be pronounced like vogue, but for over 40 years In England, almost without exception, people have pronounced Moog the same way Tonepusher does, ie like moo with a g at the end.
@@eddie1441 Good to know! Well I'm french Canadian, and we do also pronounce it like that hehe I didn't think it would make people angry haha ooh good old interwebz
@@PlugInGuruVideo Hey Skippy even the great man himself Bob, didn't mind how it was pronounced so why do you?
UI is a nightmare. The sound gets tiring as it's distorted and sounds thin and shrill after a while. Go back to Diva and you'll see.
haha well, I don't agree with you obviously, but it's okay haha Probably the best low-end and filter I've heard from a vst. Diva will always be Diva though, legendary hehe 👌
All I say is, do some comparisons. I agree, the Moog sound is there. And that is great. But the implementation is terrible for sound design, or even the casual user unless you're happy with RSI. Compare the low end to Diva in its Moog mode, or Softtube Model 72. Not a significant difference for me. Btw, UAD's Moog filter, is great. Hopefully they release it natively.@@Tonepusher
It is native already @@RJ1J
@@RJ1J Never tried the UAD Moog Filter, but they do make grrrreat plugins. I designed presets for OPAL before it came out and it sounded really good too.
I think I'll reinstall DIVA now :D haha
@@RJ1Jwhat do you do for work?take a seat 🤡
I mean, diva sounds better
hmm yeah Diva sounds great also! I guess they have different texture. I feel like the lowend is better on the Mariana though. 🤷🏻♂️
A sad end for Moog . This isn’t Moog. It’s just brand licensing to another developer.
Well I do agree that it's not really ''brand aligned". But if you want to survive in 2023, I guess they had to do it.
"Sleek and intuitive"... I don't know about sleek, but it's definitely not intuitive.
Haha well after a month I still think the UI is really well done and easy to use. The modulation matrix can be ''hard" to understand for beginners but besides that it's great
@@Tonepusher I just don’t like that envelopes are not in the same view as oscs.
Otherwise yeah, it looks good.
@@Metalovai dude I agree 200% on that one haha the back and forth is really annoying...probably the only downside imo. Mayyybe the fact that you can't choose between layer 1 or 2 for the FXs. But I didn't dig deeper yet Idk if you can change that yet.
Well, that was a complete waste of my time. But still, those facial axpressions must mean that it is beyond great.
Thanks for taking your precious time to comment :)
Absolutely not, unfortunately
haha which one would it be!? 🤔
