Washington Fan here. To this day it amazes me how much Kirk gets dogged and was dogged at the time when he was on Washington. Washington did him real dirty with those consecutive tags and, despite being a fan, I was glad he was finally able to escape the abysmal situation in Washington. I really hope he's able to come back and get a shot at a ring. Forever a Kirk fan!
What forever amazes me is letting a 29 yo quarterback with a pro bowl and a 25+ TD 4k season three peat walk in free agency. Not trading him for valuable draft capital, no extension, just letting him hit the free agent market like he’s Bryce Harper. A first and 2 3rds is the bare minimum that front office would’ve netted. Why did that happen?
@@chicagodude8888Because, wildly, some teams don’t care about making smart decisions. Trades, draft pick, etc… Some team owners only own a team because it’s extra capital and they give zero shits about if their team is good or not or who is in their front office.
I love Kirk. I’ve loved Kirk. I’m a redskins fan. We gave up on him and ruined our trajectory. We’ve been endlessly spiraling since the departure of Kirk. Kirk has turned three recievers into some on the best in the league. Diggs Jefferson and thielen for a few years.

I like the guy. I’m a Falcons fan and would like to see him on my team. Also, I’ve been watching the Vikings since the Tarkenton era (go bulldogs) and I know how hard it is for them to win in the postseason. Not gonna judge Kirk based on that.

Kirk is a guy who will absolutely make an average offense seem much better than it really is. But he’s not quite on the level where he’s going to single-handedly carry a team. He just for whatever reason isn’t always good against the best. He’s a lot like Stafford was on the Lions.
It may have seemed that way when he was on a crappy Washington team. There were SO many times with the Vikings/ Zimmer that Kirk had the team in a position to win but the defense would give the game away. It was a completely different story with KOC (as it usually is). In 2022, Kirk led the Vikings to a 13-4 season in 2022 with his arm despite having a 28th ranked run game and a 31st ranked defense and the greatest comeback in NFL history. In 2023, The defense was also still learning Flores' system for the first few games and weren’t causing turnovers like they did in the 2022 season. Once the rest of the offense and the defense finally got their crap together, Kirk’s' excellent play led the team to winning football (ex. beating the 49ers on MNF, without Jefferson in the lineup) and got the Vikings back in the playoffs. Kirk has also had bottom of the league pass blocking his entire time in MN which didn't majorly improve until the 49ers game last season. Burrow was a checkdown king last season. PFF noted that he had a lack of pass protection. But in Kirk's case, he gets stuck with "he just for whatever reason isn’t always good against the best." That's the Kirk Cousins' experience.
1 playoff win doesn’t really silence the critics. Especially since a 1 playoff win QB is now the standard for good Vikings QB’s. Jordan Love matched Kirk’s playoff wins in his first starting season. Kirk is a glorified stat padder who had the honor of JJ catching his passes.
@@Bdbdb736 Not a stupid take, Vikings are really trying to defend a 1 playoff win QB. Kirk is good, but not worth the money especially now that he’s suffered an ACL injury. Kirk’s regular season stats don’t mean shit for a franchise that have yet to win a Super Bowl. I don’t care about your ‘debunking.’ Kirk has become the standard for Vikings QBs and he hasn’t even sniffed the NFC championship round yet. Really shows you how desperate the Vikings have become.

That's not his fault that's WASH fault the franchise tags they gave him inflated his value then he outperformed them he himself wasn't a 30 mill QB but he was valued at that by his FA if they just extended him to a 20-25 mill deal he's fine
Remember…. in the 2023 off-season, Kirk offered to take less (than his 35 million) for a three year deal and the Vikings GM said no as he only wanted to offer Kirk a one deal and draft his own quarterback. All those stories before free agency that Kirk wanted “45 million” were people’s opinions and not based on any facts.
@@BostonBori92 What he got on the franchise tag was his market value ..... which was for a starting quarterback in his prime with no injury history. 20-25 million is what a backup quarterback would have made.

@@BostonBori92 How is his market value higher than it should have been??? I've read so many articles that it is unheard of for a quarterback in his prime with no injury history to hit free agency. Kirk gets paid like he does BECAUSE of his performance and durability. He throws 4000+ yards and 30+ TDs every season like clockwork. His career passer rating is 98.2. which is the 8th highest passer rating in NFL history…in NFL history. He’s 5th all-time in completion percentage. Kirk Cousins betrayed the Vikings. He was given a 100 million dollars! And the best he could was lose. Had the best three receiver trio by far. I guess a 100 million wasn't enough. Good luck with your new wideouts, and tight ends. They are not going to bail you out of your mediocre talent.
The Minnesota Vikings FAILED Kirk, plain and simple. #1 By neglecting the o-line in pass protection (it was bottom of the league under Zimmer) for the team's pocket passer #2 having one of the worst defenses in the league for most of his time there #3 incompetent and outdated coaching by Zimmer who fired his OC every year and didn’t surround him with talent to consistently win (like every other successful team does for their quarterback) The one year the Vikings protected the quarterback to the tune of average (in 2017), they reached the NFC Championship. But yeah, let’s blame the quarterback for the lack of wins like he’s a tennis player at Wimbledon. Forget the other 24 players who are on the field and affect the outcome of the game.
