- For my new Food Network series I got to visit the beautiful Greek island of Ikaria! I found out the secrets of why these people live for so long and tried a whole load of delicious food too!

Thank you for visiting Ikaria. It has a magic all its own. It's not built up for tourists and the people are poor, but real. As you go inland, people in the isolated towns still often use words Homer used (it is rumored he settled there in his old age), and their ancient Greek mixes with the more modern Greek. So steeped in history! And yes, they often are healthy even in their old age. My cousin is 92 and she has the body of a 20 year old, always running up steps, walks miles a day, laughs, is loving and kind. All the family is. I feel so out of shape when visiting home.

I went to Ikaria this summer. I miss the place so bad that I was looking up Ikarian videos and found out Donal came there too!! Amazing place, wonderful foods, beautiful people! Oh those hitchhiking, never ending sunny days on the beaches ..

Fabulous!!!!! My family is from portugal & madeira. My partner & I along with our 5 year old just travelled around part of europe in january. Greece is on the list for our next holiday.

Ágata González When my friends and I went to Athens, we kept going to a place that served the best lentil soup. I think we had it like three times in the week we were there. Lentil soup and bread, don't need much more! (well, wine. Aretsina, please). :)

I had to laugh. Your "little plane" looks like a de Havilland Dash 7 or 8. Made in Toronto where I live, these STOL aircraft connect to many cities in North America as well as the rest of the world. If you want small aircraft, come on over here and travel with a bush pilot who fly the infamous Beaver float plane landing on the thousands of small lakes here.
I am enjoying your new series very much but next time, come to Toronto, which according to the United Nations, is the most cosmopolitan city in the world. No need for you to fly all over Europe, you can find all the ethnic foods you have shown and so many more right here. Tonight I plan to have Pide, a Turkish style, elongated pizza. Oh yum.😋🍕
I just checked with Olympic Air and was right. You flew on a Dash 8, made in Toronto and holding around 100 passengers, and is certainly not tiny. A million years ago, when I flew the Atlantic on Stratocruisers or Super Constellations, these planes held only sixty or seventy people! Ah, you young kids of today!💺😉😱🙀
Well, I'd be dead or at the very least, lying in a hospital bed because I'm allergic to stings, lol. Well, its wasp stings I think I'm particularly allergic to so I think that means I'm ok with bee stings? Maybe?!! I don't know. But I wouldn't risk it for a biscuit I tell you, teehee.
