My dad flew on UNHAS a couple days ago. Nice airline and the crew even let him take a photo with the plane. Shame they only serve water on the flight. On a real note they are a fascinating airline and cool logistical study. Nice video!

To be fair alot of UN peacekeeping and aid forces have been attacked while operating insane logistics. I mean Black Hawk Down was made into a movie because it was Americans who were killed, but this happens to lots of UN peacekeepers and aid workers all of the time, while they are performing some insanely complex work.
So what you’re saying is that I have a good business case in creating an airline that flies where the UN does but at a lower price?

I just wanted to point out that there actually WAS a Hooters Airline, from 2003 to 2006. I remember seeing ads for it at the time.
The fact that you present this factually while respectfully talking shit is my favourite thing.

The real question we should be asking is what was wrong with the original lines that had to be de-dubbed in clearly a totally different physical space that sounded totally different. They were about things that could have been dicey, so my money is on Sam first having said something a little too close to the line

On the bright side of taking off from Newark Liberty, at least there's the chance Tony Soprano gets to see your plane as he's driving on the NJ Turnpike while listening to Woke Up This Morning by Alabama 3. And the airport has an Amtrak-NJ Transit hub...unlike other airports that don't have transit at all

there are actually still several international routes from Kabul on commercial airlines - including between Kabul and Doha on Ariana Afghan Airlines

I saw their planes in Islamabad in December 2021 as they were operating to Afghanistan. There were three of them, and they were really small planes (probably sat 10-16 pax max).
My father needed to go on a business trip to Orlando when I was little, and so he used it as an excuse to take the family on vacation. We flew on Hooters Air. I had in-flight teddy bear graham crackers.
Being half as interesting as Sam from wendover is quite a blow!!!

Alaska Airlines was built around this concept too of doing flights where no one else would in rural Alaska.
So was Qantas (Queensland and Northern Territory Air Service). Alaska and Australia are mostly empty for the same reasons. The predominant weather and terrain is something very few people want to live in.
FYI, Air India never suspended its services to Afghanistan either.
Plus, India sends humanitarian aid to the people of Afghanistan via India's port in Iran. (Since land route is blocked, as Pakistan doesn't want aid to reach Afghanistan).
