I started taking chemical engineering classes as a junior in college 39 years ago. My class was 20% women. The Society of Women Engineers was well established, and provided women encouragement. Fast forward to 2017. My guess that women have even more encouragement then when I was taking classes. Currently classes are about 20% women. Back in the eighties, women faced some occasional prejudice owing to working in a male dominated field, but also were granted extra mentoring and encouragement. Fast forward to 2017.
